A Robust Solution with Enhanced Automation and Process Improvement Identification Capabilities
I recommend that users invest more time in the initial setup of the process architecture within the tool. It is crucial to spend time designing how the process architecture works as it significantly impacts how the tool behaves. This upfront investment can prevent the need for extensive reworking later on.

Reporting has improved with strong administration tools but performance and memory still need work
Compared to the new tools, MicroStrategy is still on the old mechanism, the attributes and metric creations that are still a bit vague compared to other tools. They can actually improve on the go, having derived metrics or derived attributes in MicroStrategy. If they have something like that for the attributes as well, it will be good. A pain point is MicroStrategy memory fluctuations that we couldn't actually read that much. If they can improve that performance, that would be great. MicroStrategy struggles a bit with large data volumes, but they are coming up with new ideas. They have moved to Intelligent Cubes, which can actually handle better data handling. They are coming up with good measures to handle big data.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One notable software-related benefit from a user perspective is our improved ability to identify opportunities for automation and process enhancement just by gaining a clearer view of the processes. There are two valuable aspects. First, setting up the process architecture is commendable. Second, not having to maintain different versions of processes is a notable benefit. The solution is stable. The support team is responsive."
"The most valuable feature is the integrated manner in which all the capabilities of the Enterprise Process Center platform work together and make it easier to complete the documentation of processes."
"MicroStrategy has a mobile component which helps our sales team track and showcase insights to stakeholders without any problems."
"Highly scalable: It is not a bottleneck for leveraging a high-capacity analytical database."
"The most effective features of MicroStrategy for data analysis are those that cater to user needs."
"I would definitely recommend MicroStrategy over anything I've worked with before."
"All the business units rely on the information provided by MicroStrategy for their decisions on daily basis, which increases data accuracy and saves time to build reports."
"Saves time and empowers business users."
"I am a report developer and find it a very useful tool."
"Blending and mashing is valuable since users right now are currently tied up with the traditional way of getting data from databases prepared by IT, and this feature will enable business users to immediately have access to different data sources, whether from IT or from their personal files, and allows them to combine these sources, and create reports and visualizations quickly and easily."

Cons

"However, on the process mining side, there's potential for improvement to gain deeper insights into process functionality. Additionally, there's always room for enhancement in the user interface."
"As with all such platforms, Enterprise Process Center is a complex tool and there are many capabilities and features that take time to learn."
"MicroStrategy's mobile dashboard is still not a RESTful design."
"At the time we moved away from relying on it, the solution was really lagging as far as visualizations and ease of dashboard creation."
"It would be good if it had greater analytics so we could build these visualizations by ourselves with scripts."
"The product is designed for enterprise. A lightweight version would be easier for a smaller workgroup."
"MicroStrategy lacks that community support. You're either stuck figuring things out yourself or paying expensive fees to MicroStrategy consultants for help."
"We have used tech support many times. Sometimes they're knowledgeable. I would say that there is a lot room for them to improve."
"This solution is missing enhanced features in the dashboards."
"The web developer tool for documents creation does not have all the features of the client version"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"My advice for anybody who is implementing this product is to understand what options you believe you are going to want to implement and rollout in the first three to five years, but spend the most time understanding what the set-up costs and pricing will be in the first two or maybe three."
"The pricing for MicroStrategy is always on the higher side. They should seriously start thinking about their pricing and licensing strategy."
"The solution’s licensing cost is expensive."
"Pricing, in general, is high. With Power BI, you get mobile with the license, whereas with MicroStrategy, you have to purchase mobile for extra."
"They gave us a good deal."
"It is expensive. We would like to extend it to many users, but we are currently restricting that because the cost is a constraint. If we are given a chance, we would love to expand it."
"There is no subscription, I am using the free version."
"They offer yearly as well as perpetual licenses."
"While initial cost of MicroStrategy is still on the higher side, the long-term benefits brings down overall cost of ownership significantly as compared to other tools like Tableau/Cognos."
