Sentiment score
7.3
MEGA HOPEX support is praised for responsiveness and knowledge but varies by region; documentation and community resources help resolve issues.
There is plenty of documentation available online for assistance, making it straightforward to address any issues.
The response time is pretty good because we have someone in-house, who is an expert from Informatica, in our team who can help us with any sort of queries usually.
Due to the tool's maturity limitations, solutions are not always simple and often require workarounds.
If they are unsure how to resolve an issue, they keep customers informed, providing updates about progress and ensuring communication with the product team to deliver accurate responses.

Sentiment score
7.3
MEGA HOPEX is highly scalable for enterprises, supporting many users, though performance may require customization and cost consideration.
It scales well to teams of one hundred plus people.
As a SaaS platform, IDMC is quite scalable and provides complete flexibility.

7.8
IDERA ER/Studio is generally stable, though occasional issues exist with older versions, complex models, and server performance.
Sentiment score
7.7
Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud is generally stable, with newer versions being more reliable and support enhancing consistency.
Sentiment score
7.3
MEGA HOPEX stability has improved over versions, though minor issues persist, with users rating it 7-9 out of 10.
Erwin is a very stable product.
Stability is crucial because IDMC holds business-critical data, and it needs to be available all the time for business users.

Room For Improvement

IDERA ER/Studio needs deployment, licensing, documentation, performance, and feature enhancements for better user experience and functionality.
IDMC requires UI improvements, better system connectivity, performance enhancements, cost reduction, AI features, and improved support and observability.
MEGA HOPEX's complex interface and integration issues require improvements in usability, reporting, reliability, and diagramming features.
Both Erwin and ER/Studio do not have AI or machine learning features for automation.
I also want to see integration with other Informatica products, such as IICS, to leverage the metadata from EDC.
The tool needs to mature in terms of category-specific attributes or dynamic attributes.
The observability concept in Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) needs improvement as the capabilities are not up to the mark compared to the industry.
MegaHOPEX lacks comprehensive features that a governance tool should have, particularly in data governance.

Setup Cost

IDERA ER/Studio is costly and complex to license, but many find its features offer valuable returns.
Informatica IDMC's pricing is seen as high, with nuanced licensing, leading to user concerns compared to competitors.
MEGA HOPEX is expensive, with prices varying based on licenses; additional features and services increase costs significantly.
In terms of pricing, ER/Studio is slightly more expensive compared to Erwin, by about five to ten percent.
The setup cost may have been around $1500 to $2000.
It ranges from a quarter million to a couple of million a year.
The licenses are too expensive compared to before, which is why customers are now preferring other data metadata management tools like OneTrust, Collibra, and Azure Purview.
I think the costs are reasonable for the kinds of features that Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) has.

Valuable Features

IDERA ER/Studio enables comprehensive data modeling, collaboration, and automation with user-friendly interfaces and integration with versioning tools.
Informatica IDMC is a robust cloud platform offering seamless data integration, real-time streaming, and comprehensive data management features.
MEGA HOPEX provides comprehensive IT portfolio management, intuitive interface, customizable features, and aligns IT with business strategies efficiently.
It has strong versioning support and can even integrate with third-party versioning tools like GitHub.
When we built an application, it facilitated the development process by providing the skeleton of the application and the foundation for functions.
In on-premise, we call it EDC for metadata management, while in cloud-based technologies, it is known as the Metadata Command Center, which serves the same purpose as EDC concerning CDGC.
The platform's ability to pull in data from other platforms without the need for an additional integration tool enhances its appeal.
Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) can connect to pretty much any application, including Oracle Analytics and Power BI, and it works quite seamlessly.

Used for data modeling and has a scripting language to write your own scripts
The solution has streamlined our data modeling processes quite a bit. It's a central focus in our data modeling and data cataloging efforts. The tool's reverse engineering capability to bring in existing database structures and create models from them has benefitted our data architecture needs. With the tool's data dictionary capability, we're able to maintain consistency in our models, name use, and actual data domains. The solution's reverse engineering helps with understanding legacy databases. In fact, I've been asked to reverse-engineer several more legacy databases so that we can have them modeled and cataloged. The solution is deployed on the cloud server, but it’s only within our network. The solution has a lot of capabilities. I like the fact that it has a scripting language that allows you to automate and write your own scripts. I think that's been a big bonus for us. I highly recommend the solution because of its capability for logical models, where you can put your business definitions and logic. While less expensive, some other tools can't do that. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Match and merge functionality is still the best but cloud version needs more functionality
There are various areas for improvement in IDMC. Enhancements on basic data management functionality and the UI front, such as multiple templates and improved grid views, would be beneficial. Bulk data management features could be improved from the UI perspective to get to the level of the on prem versions of Informatica MDM. The tool needs to mature but missing small but important features, like restricted dynamic attributes functionality, data inheritance rules in master hierachies, identifiers not being passed in jobs is a drawback.
