Backups become efficient while cost concerns remain
I am still working with IBM and we are transitioning to other tools rather than using IBM InfoSphere Optim. We use other tools, but I cannot recall the name because I am not the one currently handling it. It has transitioned to other architects. For IBM InfoSphere Optim, we are still currently using it, but we have transitioned to the newer version, the latest one with support for AWS S3. I cannot identify a main competitor for IBM InfoSphere Optim because we have transitioned to other architects, and they are the ones looking for other tools. The last comparison I did was almost 4 years ago. I am not using any AI technology with IBM InfoSphere Optim. I rate IBM InfoSphere Optim a seven out of ten. The tool is good, but the price is not favorable as it is the most expensive part. I can recommend IBM InfoSphere Optim for enterprises.

Easy to understand layer flows, reliable, and excellent support
We are using Informatica Data Archive for clients' legacy systems to confirm the data from their legacy system to the new system based on the SQL Server The most valuable features of Informatica Data Archive are ease of use, and the flows from one layer to the next are simple to understand. The…

Provides good stability and has an easy implementation process
It is a good tool for monitoring databases. It enhances the overall visibility within the database The older version of the product works with Flash technology. Although the latest version works with Java, it still requires Flash technology. It should utilize only a Java plugin to visualize your…

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We like that we can easily restore the database with just a few clicks. The database is linked as well."
"The compression feature is valuable because it achieves around 80% compression."
"I feel the solution to be a bit faster than the traditional methods, which makes it easy to customize."
"The most valuable features of Informatica Data Archive are ease of use, and the flows from one layer to the next are simple to understand."
"One of the most valuable features of Informatica Data Archive is its performance."
"It is a stable solution...The initial setup of Oracle Enterprise Manager was straightforward."
"We use Oracle Enterprise Manager for a lot of services like ERP and PLM."
"The job subsystem, monitoring subsystem, alerting, grouping of targets, and reporting features are valuable to us."
"We can manage everything in our environment."
"There are a number of different user interfaces you can choose from."
"The dashboards are great for gathering analytic information and seeing where the problems are."
"We use it extensively for performance tuning testing, monitoring, and configuration."
"What I like most about Oracle Enterprise Manager are its features, particularly the active session history. It provides insights into SQL, and I use it regularly to identify potential issues."

Cons

"While the solution is very supportive of Db2, it is not so friendly when it comes to IMS databases."
"We're looking for a solution that can be implemented on AWS. IBM InfoSphere Optim can be implemented on AWS, but it costs more than double what we're currently paying. So, it's not really of good value for us."
"The potential room for improvement for IBM InfoSphere Optim is usually its cost, as it is too expensive."
"Informatica Data Archive could improve by providing training. Training is one area where we lack, there are not very many trained resources in the market for sales, GPM, proposals, new offerings, or new features that are being added to this solution. It would be really helpful for consultants, like me, to understand the new, cool features these solutions are constantly adding. Training is something, that should be in place."
"The recovery features could improve in Informatica Data Archive."
"I would like to improve the cost."
"It is complicated to run it on Google Chrome."
"My opinion is that this solution needs to improve consolidation. That is what our business needs the most right now."
"Technical support could be faster."
"Setting up the Oracle Enterprise Manager is challenging as it requires setting up a separate server."
"The solution has a very large resource system. It's too big. There are too many items."
"The solution is not as simple as people say it is."
"RMAN tools need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"IBM InfoSphere Optim is a very expensive solution. Actually, it's the most expensive archiving solution that we have."
"The price of Informatica Data Archive is reasonable. Different versions of the solution are available, such as the professional edition and enterprise edition."
"It's expensive."
"Be careful to only enable the packs for which you have a license as this is an issue we see time and again."
"The solution is inexpensive to purchase."
"It is part of Real Application Testing, so no new investment is necessary for clients who already are already using RAT."
"Based upon 3 days of implementation by a single person, plus licensing costs would be approximately $60,000, including the virtualized hosts."
"Evaluate your requirements carefully. Elaborate DR and HA setup of OEM can become expensive."
"As with all Oracle products, care should be taken when using any features to ensure that they do not activate licensed features that have not been paid for."
"The basic functions are free. You only pay license fees for advanced features."
