Pros
"The most valuable features are both its budgeting and forecasting."

"We only buy the services we need. We don't have to pay for other things we don't.""The most valuable feature of Splunk Cloud Platform is its flexibility and readiness because it's already prebuilt, and everything is click-to-go.""For my current requirements, the tool theme seems to be meeting my requirements, from a cost and requirements perspective.""I like the fact that we do not have to maintain all the cloud infrastructure. That is probably the main thing about the Splunk Cloud Platform.""The most valuable feature is we don't have to deal with any back-end server maintenance because the solution is cloud-based.""The solution is user friendly and has extensive uses.""The most valuable feature of Splunk Cloud Platform is the alerting feature.""Splunk Cloud Platform's most valuable features are enterprise security and ticketing integration."

Cons
"We have been advised by the owners that the budgeting tool is no longer going to be supported with future development, so my recommendation would be for them to continue to invest in development. Otherwise, at some point we will have to migrate to another technology."

More Hubble Cons →

"The search for bulk data needs to be improved. When we were looking for the flow, we had to search really hard. I wanted to request the Splunk team to add some features for better search because getting the flow of the bulk data was sometimes hard.""Splunk should increase the frequency of new feature releases, particularly those related to real-time operational flow monitoring and analytics reporting.""Support is the bigger issue when we have a problem. When we need their help, it takes weeks or months to actually get resolved.""The pricing model makes the product costly.""They need to provide more training options.""When one of my customers needs an app, and I am able to find that app on the Splunk base, I have to create a ticket and wait for five days for them to download the app into the cloud environment. That is probably one of the main things. It is painful because I have to wait to get that app in the cloud.""The administration could use improvement. We have to rely on support more often than we're used to.""Splunk Cloud could improve by having pre-defined templates. It has very good design views, but there is no predefined template. You have to define your own. If they could add predefined templates for different use cases."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "The licensing is based on the amount of data that we send to the cloud on a daily basis."
  • "The price is something that people complain about."
  • "The licensing costs depend on the state of your environment and the fees are paid on a monthly basis."
  • "The pricing model makes this an expensive solution."
  • "There are additional features that you would need to purchase depending on your use case."
  • "The cost of using Splunk Cloud Platform is high, but the value it provides is worth the investment."
  • "I am familiar with the pricing and licensing model a little bit. I am not sure about the particulars of the actual price that we have, but I do like the idea of going towards a more CPU-based approach rather than the ingest approach because it allows us the ability to ingest more data if we need it."
  • "It is a touchy subject because we are locked into it. That goes back to the rehydrating data. We cannot have the retention that we want to store for legal and compliance purposes because that is seven years' worth of data for some of the indexes, so we ship them off into S3 buckets and install them there, at which point they are invisible to Splunk, so we have to rehydrate them, but we cannot rehydrate those pockets into Splunk Cloud. We have to rehydrate them into a self-hosted version of Splunk, which can take days to set up and get going. I would not call Splunk's licensing and pricing predatory, but they have made it very difficult to maintain the independence of your own data."
