Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of ExtremeAnalytics is wireless intrusion prevention."
"The initial setup of ExtremeAnalytics is straightforward and user-friendly."
"The solution's scalability is a ten out of ten."
"The application response latency is valuable and suitable for troubleshooting."
"We were able to throw AppDynamics in there, identify the root cause within probably 45 minutes, which took our process time from 33 days down to 18 days, and then a few more efficiencies were found a few hours later, which brought it down to three days."
"Once you use AppDynamics it feels like you were standing in the dark before."
"We are so much faster in responding to issues than we've ever been before."
"Quicker turnaround on finding/resolving issues or improving performance, which leads to improved client experiences."
"You have a live view of what happens when something goes wrong on the production or support side. You don't have to scramble and do guesswork. We can identify the query that creates the bottleneck or slows the performance of the database system. It can give you points on how to debug and fix the system."
"I've been really happy with it and everything we want it to do, it's done."
"Being able to install it on-prem and monitor our on-prem infrastructure is important for us... Most of our infrastructure is on-prem. We have highly scalable systems and AppDynamics will help us monitor our load on-prem. Our systems range from simple to the most complex and it gives us the visibility across transactions, in one dashboard."
"The auto-discovery of the logs is the most valuable feature. It requires minimal configuration, we just need to set up on once and it automatically detects through the code."

Cons

"There are issues with cloud distribution of the servers, and it could be faster."
"ExtremeAnalytics could improve application control. The URL filtering is not working properly. We have had issues with the reports and heat maps not working as expected. We have been receiving download errors when attempting to retrieve the heat maps and reports."
"The solution's stability needs to be improved."
"The price could be slightly improved."
"We are having a problem where one of our tenants has had issues with availability over the past two months. There is a lot of downtime for the SaaS tenant."
"The limitations are often due to the vendors not supplying all the profiling features to AppDynamics."
"The integration part in AppDynamics with other systems is an area with a little difficulty, especially when it comes to the configuration area. The integration of AppDynamics with other products takes a lot of time."
"The granularity of historic data could be improved."
"It could be more user-friendly for beginners."
"At this time, we don't have much visibility on the virtual environment, monitoring, and all other things."
"The scalability could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution is approximately $100 to $120 and is paid annually."
"The pricing is an eight out of ten."
"The pricing needs to come down."
"The licensing cost is fairly high"
"AppDynamics Database Monitoring is expensive. I rate it a seven to eight out of ten."
"We have two different licensing models for this solution. One of them is the agent based model, which requires payment per agent. The other is an infrastructure based model, where the price is based on the CPU core. For the infrastructure model wholesale level pricing applies. All of the up to date licensing prices for this product are available on the manufacturers website."
"As a technical person, and as an application development team, they all understand that this is the right tool for us. But when it comes to budget and financial matters, it takes days and weeks to convince upper management to buy this tool. So they should do something more on licensing costs."
"There were no added costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"We have purchased a few licenses for AppDynamics Database Monitoring and the price is high."
"There is a license for the solution and we paid approximately $2,000. There is also an additional cost above the standard license which cost us approximately $3,000."
