Has improved performance for mission-critical workloads and enabled seamless non-disruptive upgrades
The availability is 99.99%, which is the main factor any customer would need because their data should be available whenever they want to access it. This is one main critical thing. It is very easy to upgrade since Pure Storage FlashArray handles it well. Everything is non-disruptive now; previously, there were forklift shifts, but now that is not the case. Pure Storage FlashArray says no to forklift upgrades. Usually hardware requires downtime, but Pure Storage FlashArray has improved their footprint so that they are not asking for downtime; everything is just a non-disruptive activity, which is why customers are more inclined towards Pure Storage FlashArray. Customers want more of the models in their environment due to the performance they are giving, and everything is in one Pure1 Array console where we can view all the models on one page or just an orchestration tool. You don't miss anything; you have replication, notifications about replication, and details about which host groups replication is happening in and if that replication is successful or failed. On a daily basis, our purpose is to create volumes for infrastructure; our daily activities include creating volumes and mapping them to the host, doing any migrations from a VM, clearing the data stores, and carving the volumes to those VMs. One key factor is the data compression with a ratio of 5:1, focusing on space efficiency, inline deduplication, and the compression Pure Storage FlashArray works on; that is a major factor we can suggest to any customer. Analytical capabilities are crucial. Daily, we check the throughput and consumption, and Pure Storage FlashArray provides predictions for one year regarding usage. This prediction helps plan updates well ahead. For support, we just raise a case, and they follow up and get it done. There is also AI readiness, but with the model R2, we don't have much of that AI readiness. For others, we do have AI readiness that predicts capacity based on daily or monthly trends, enabling us to analyze how much space we need or if we need to expand the disk shelf. From an operational point of view, a good feature is that if you accidentally delete a volume, it will be retained in the destroyed state for the next twenty-four hours, which is not the same with any other vendor. I have worked in this storage domain for the past fifteen years, and this option is remarkable, benefiting any L1 or L2 engineer. Additionally, from a compliance perspective, Pure Storage FlashArray has REST APIs enabled. I have not explored automation much, but from a security standpoint, it is strong with encryption data. If you want to automate, you can easily integrate with all clouds and explore Pure Cloud for scheduling workloads, including volume creation. Customers find benefit in Pure Storage FlashArray's single management pane of glass due to the dual controller and active-active setup. If one of the controllers goes down, all workloads automatically shift to the other controller, ensuring their data is safe and accessible at all times. This is a highlighted feature that any customer desires because their data should always be accessible. For SAN workloads, we use Pure Storage FlashArray because for SAN FC fiber channel, we don't use it; we use NetApp for NAS activities. We have clearly split this, so SAN is for mission-critical applications, while network-attached storage handles file systems. This architecture helps us maximize the benefit from Pure Storage FlashArray due to the significant workloads from this giant retail client. From a footprint and energy consumption perspective, you can see energy consumption from the Pure1 storage portal on a daily basis, and it is very compact. The three models we use consume only three units, which is quite low. From a footprint and data center perspective, it doesn't occupy much space. As everything moves to cloud, there are requirements to avoid excess spending on data centers, and Pure Storage FlashArray is efficient in energy consumption and is environmentally friendly.

Seamless upgrades have boosted reliable block performance and simplified data center operations
Using block storage with Everpure Evergreen One has helped my production workloads primarily through performance and reliability. The performance is excellent because of Pure's simple architecture with just two controllers. Everpure Evergreen One offers exceptional features, including hardware that is compact and does not occupy multiple racks in data centers. The cooling and electricity savings are significant, and the ease of management means that even someone without any experience can manage Pure. The ease of management has helped my team because storage provisioning is straightforward. You can provision storage with just two clicks without waiting. There is no spinning, no loading, nothing—just one action, assuming you have already completed the zoning and added the hosts and host groups. Everpure Evergreen One has positively impacted my organization because the Evergreen model provides a hardware refresh every three years, essentially giving you new hardware and better performance, which is one of the coolest things. From these hardware refreshes, I have seen specific outcomes including no downtime at all. I performed a controller upgrade from M series to X, and it was seamless—no downtime, just one controller replacement at a time, with no performance issues and data still accessible.

Provides good object storage functionalities
MinIO should provide an easier subscription model for companies that don't have a huge amount of data. Our company has a maximum of 100 terabytes of data. The solution should provide more bugging tools in the open-source version to encourage people to buy the support services. It's not an easy decision. If I go to the management and tell them that I need to buy a service, there should be an easier subscription model for companies that don't have huge amounts of data. For me, getting a subscription for 15,000 a year for a system already in production might be a bit hard. I think MinIO supports a minimum of one petabyte or 100 terabytes of data. Since we don't have such huge amounts of data, buying a subscription for the solution is a bit difficult. Hence, we're only using the open-source version for now. If MinIO becomes really crucial for our business, we could ask the management to get a subscription.

"The Evergreen program is excellent, and the pricing is quite reasonable. My friends who work there are doing very well and consistently achieving strong results. Like any company, they experience occasional downturns but perform impressively overall."
"The most valuable features in Pure Storage Evergreen One are the SLAs, which are tied to the kind of services that we are going to run, and these SLAs govern the consumption and the reporting as well."
"Everpure Evergreen One has impacted my organization positively because, as an SI company, when we buy it in bulk and share it among multiple other customers, it helps us with the shared model and how we can handle the entire workload."
"Everpure Evergreen One has positively impacted my organization because it is an easy sell regarding flash storage."

Cons

"Pure Storage can improve FlashArray by providing more logging visibility to customers. Currently, there is no log visibility."
"Pure Storage's logs could provide more visibility to the end-user. The logging algorithms are different from those of other vendors. For example, Cisco's logs provide extensive troubleshooting data, whereas Pure Storage logs offer limited information. We have to contact support to get more information."
"I would like the ability to swap out the network adapters into it. So, without taking out the whole controller, I would like to be able to swap adapters. This would make things easier."
"In the next release of the solution I would like to see Vormetric native block encryption."
"In the next release, I would like to see file-level encryption."
"During heavy load situations with 100K IOPS on one specific port, it requires more granularity level for distribution."
"I like what they're doing, but some of my customers complain that they do not have all the bells and whistles and knobs to fine-tune workloads that some of the competitors have. In my opinion, that's good. All customers don't have dedicated storage gurus, and they can get themselves into trouble if they fine-tune too many of those high-performance knobs, but they do get knocked down. Pure Storage takes a hit in the minds and opinions of some of the customers because they cannot customize things as much as compared to a legacy storage provider's appliance such as NetApp, Dell EMC, or even HPE. I personally think 95% of my customers are better off letting the system fine-tune itself. That was something that you needed to do 12 or 15 years ago, but now with all-flash, the technology can handle what it needs to handle. Customers just end up shooting themselves in the foot if they are tweaking too many default settings."
"What it needs to do is work a little closer with solutions, like VMware, so it understands the particular workloads that are on it. Today, it does not understand the applications which are running against it."
"Everpure Evergreen One could be improved by being slightly more flexible with the pricing model."
"The only potential drawback is that Pure Storage might be overkill if you don't need microsecond response times."
"It would be nice to have support in Swedish."
"I'm not sure if any improvements are needed."
"Customers are very happy with Everpure Evergreen One solutions; however, it could be improved with better prices and availability of new storage or flash arrays."
"Many customers report that the starting price is quite high. However, the overall total cost of ownership can be reduced over time due to features like the Evergreen architecture, which allows savings through less management and environmental benefits."
"I would love to explore more options on what Pure Storage Evergreen One can offer in general, mostly from the cybersecurity perspective and air gap."
"To me, I think it's a little expensive. Then again, you get what you pay for."
"We've had a few crashes because of excessive use. We struggled a little to learn where the problem was."
"Lacks documentation for non-Kubernetes users."
"The product's initial setup phase is complex."
"An area that could be improved is the limited storage provided in the free version of this tool."
"The scalability is one of the limitations we have found. We are looking for another solution but they must provide the same characteristics, such as an affordable price and continuity."
"The monitoring capability is really bad and needs to be improved."
"MinIO can sometimes crash because of the dependency in underlying OS software layers."
"We had minor bugs occasionally."

"Dell and Pure Storage offer competitive pricing, but Pure Storage might have a slight advantage."
"Pure Storage FlashArray is expensive."
"There is always room for negotiation."
"The pricing is an issue. However, being all-flash, it will always be sort of expensive."
