Stops evolving threats and offers peace of mind
We use the solution for wireless scanning, reporting, and monitoring.  The product is not resource-intensive.  The tool's most valuable feature is virus scanning, which has saved us from malware and ransomware.  We need to be able to whitelist data at the backend.  I have been using the product…

Helps to manage and implement DMARC for clients
The product helps me manage and implement DMARC for my clients. It makes the process easy, which is otherwise complicated.  The tool's most valuable features are hosted SPF and DMARC records.  EasyDMARC should improve white labeling.  I have been using the product for a year.  I rate the…

Reliable and straightforward to set up but does have mail flow issues
The stability is good. The spam filter for email is good. The solution can scale.  We have found the initial setup to be straightforward.  I have some concerns about Proofpoint mail flow rules. It's not smart. Proofpoint has a lot of false alarms. Even their mail flow rules are not the best…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It also gives me good visibility because, with Defender, I'm using a Microsoft product to defend Microsoft products. The integration was really seamless and I have wide visibility because it picks up almost everything. Literally, I can see almost every activity that happens, from the e-mail to the workstation itself."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 has improved my organization's security. It makes it easier to manage the infrastructure without the help of third-party applications."
"The deployment capability is a great feature."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is data backups that we can provide through ticket requests."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365's most valuable feature is its performance."
"Safe attachments, safe links, policies, and the ability to protect from zero-day threats are the most valuable features."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 helps people to work remotely. It is a secure solution. We don't need to use our company's computers or get VPN connections to the networks. I can control how they share screens and what they send to the devices. It keeps our organizations confidential and sensitive information safe."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is the ease of use."
"The tool's most valuable features are hosted SPF and DMARC records."
"The most valuable feature is the option to edit the inbound security."
"I like all the features with Proofpoint, such as how it filters the spam and marketing mail, lost reality mail, blocks phishing attacks, blocks malicious attachments, and stops phishing links. Also it can defend against the business email compromise impersonation technique. It is a complete solution for all email attacks. It filters for the bad, malicious attachments. If there is any executable file, it can be deleted. It is a good, complete solution."
"The solution offers very good flexibility. You can blacklist or whitelist with ease."
"The solution's technical support is good. I rate the technical support a ten out of ten."
"Proofpoint Email Protection's advantage is that, when it's working properly, it tends to catch more threats as compared to other products."
"Proofpoint Email Protection is stable enough and does its job of virus, malware, and email scam detection. Setting it up is not too complicated."
"Its anti-phishing functionality is the most valuable. Certainly, the biggest problem I have is phishing."
"The setup was easy."

Cons

"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 should be more proactive."
"Several simulation options are available within 365, and the phishing simulation could be better."
"There is room for improvement with the UI."
"The company should focus on adding threats that the solution is currently unable to detect."
"The only thing they should improve is the licensing model. They should stop changing it. A year ago, the five features I mentioned were included in one product. Now, three of them are bundled into one product, and you have to pay extra for the other two. I don't mind paying extra, but I don't want them to change it every year or every six months. I need to know what I'm looking at and not worry about it next year."
"There's room for improvement regarding the time frame for retrieving emails."
"The XDR dashboard has room for improvement."
"One area for improvement is integration. For example, when it comes to external SaaS platforms, we were not able to get a lot of information on integrations with such apps for security and authentication."
"EasyDMARC should improve white labeling."
"The stability and UI are the two areas of the solution with certain shortcomings that need improvement."
"I want Security Awareness Training in there as a package deal. A lot of companies are starting to value email security a little bit more and take it a little bit more seriously, and the great product that we link together with a lot of these sales is a training product called Security Awareness Training. It is an upsell that we do with Proofpoint, and it is definitely something that I recommend everybody with email security to look into. It would be great if Security Awareness Training is included with the email security."
"The accessibility of Proofpoint Email Protection, particularly access to product trials, could be improved. It's hard to get a trial for Proofpoint Email Protection, and many customers prefer not just to do the POC or demo but try the product out."
"There is room for improvement in detecting and preventing phishing attacks. While the solution performs well in some aspects, it struggles with phishing threats."
"Proofpoint Email Protection has a new approach to email security with its API feature. Currently, it only works with Office 365. In the future, it would be beneficial if it also works with Gmail, as Check Point is currently the only brand that has API email security for Gmail. It would be beneficial if Proofpoint Email Protection could add this integration, they would be more competitive with other vendors."
"Pricing for the platform could still be cheaper."
"Proofpoint has a lot of false alarms."
"Integration and filtering out who you want and don't want to have integrated ID could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing has become expensive."
"It's a user-base subscription."
"Microsoft Defender is expensive. I typically recommend it only if clients have the budget. Otherwise, I would suggest an alternative."
"I was working in the government and it was too expensive for us to use our Microsoft products."
"Compared to other brands, Microsoft Defender for Office 365's pricing is competitive."
"The pricing is normal. Considering its popularity, it's not overpriced."
"From the pricing point of view, like any other product in the market, there is scope for negotiation."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is an add-on to the Office license. Many customers are purchasing this solution."
