Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the ability to put health checks in place not only for the infrastructure but for some of the services that are on top of the infrastructure.""What I like best is the configuration management functionality.""The containerization of different objects was very helpful in building an org structure. Being able to separately manage your MSP clients with separate visibility was also helpful.""Scalability is a highly rated feature of this solution. It is better than some of the other tools that I've used in terms of scalability. We scaled it to tens of thousands of devices.""The most valuable feature is the event correlation mechanism.""The granular access control that it provided so that you could only see devices that were related to what you were working on was great. I couldn't see the entire inventory of devices. I could only see the ones that were related to my work. It has got a very granular access control component.""Spectrum is great for root cause analysis. It has excellent correlation event management. Spectrum's stability and scalability are also amazing.""The fault management is perfect."

"It is a very valuable tool. It goes out and does a discovery, which is a great process of it. You could have something like a rogue DHCP server, and it will identify it, and then you can see to which switch port it is connected. It is quite an impressive tool. I really liked it because you didn't have to install an agent on anything. It would just go out and do its discovery. For me, that's great."

Cons
"The solution could improve by allowing the ability to monitor the network shortly after installing the software and adding an auto-discovery function.""I would suggest improving the web GUI to improve the device monitor configuration and to improve or to integrate the new tool for reporting.""It takes some time to learn how to use this solution.""Event correlation only works on one server, rather than on all of the servers in the same cluster environment.""It's not a great performance management tool. Its reporting capabilities are not very good at all.""Integration with some other tools, and integration with some Network Packet Broker, need some improvement.""Its visualization can be improved. It doesn't have a very advanced GUI. It is very basic and simple, but it does work.""For my use case, incident coordination was an area of improvement. The internal software engine for coordinating outages could use improvement because sometimes, we used to get false alerts for unrelated devices. They did a really good job of trying to make sure that you got one major alert and any of the subsequent devices downstream were just additions to that, but occasionally, the engine wouldn't properly catch the right things, and we used to get a flood of alerts."

"Its price can be improved. Their support can also be improved a little bit. In terms of features, it did everything I wanted it to do. With more features, I would have to start installing network agents or something else, and I don't want to have to install anything. This was the value for me about this device."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The price is very high."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "Currently, a perpetual license but some services are moving to a subscription"
  • "The price is good enough to expect an ideal solution. It's expensive."
  • More DX Spectrum Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Its price was a bit excessive. The device that I had died. It is under warranty, and they want $20,000 for another one. I just don't want to spend that kind of money, so I'm trying to find an alternate solution. They have annual maintenance on it, which probably was 10% a year, so it all starts to add up."
