It's an excellent solution for data mobility and disaster recovery, but the CLI can be difficult for beginners
Dell VPLEX currently requires Flash Player to access the GUI. It would be better to have a web-based HTML management interface. The encryption could also be improved. When the host writes data, it goes from VPLEX back to the physical storage. The physical storage device will do encryption or use an algorithm called Data Address Encryption. If there are vulnerabilities between the host and the storage device, you can lose your data. I suggest encrypting the data before it is sent from the host to the storage. I would also recommend using the NVM protocol in VPLEX. It still has Flash Player and a local SATA disk built into the Flash Player. You need to Flash the disk to SAS and then SATA. The NVM protocol is better.

Cloud storage has simplified SAN and NAS management and now optimizes costs and provisioning
The best features of Everpure Cloud include a consumption-based model, where there is no need for on-premises storage space. I only pay for the size I use, and there are continuous moderation sessions, so hardware upgrades and software enhancements are not required. All of these are managed in the back end, suggesting necessary updates. The consumption-based model benefits my team and organization by allowing us to easily buy the required space and sizes for cloud-based storage. I do not need to add any nodes or controllers to the array side, which helps us reduce costs. Additionally, with this moderation session approach, I might use a storage array for three to five years before needing to buy something else, which I can avoid with cloud storage. The main advantage of the features is that I can buy and pay for whatever model I choose, making budgeting easy and cost-efficient. Everpure Cloud positively impacts my organization by enabling me to provision LUNs and manage everything from the cloud side conveniently. If any hardware issues arise, I need to contact the data center team; however, having everything on a single platform allows me to resolve issues easily and minimizes downtime.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best part of the solution is the virtualization layer due to the fact that, for all our pain points during migration, we use the virtualization with VPLEX."
"The capacity to migrate machines onto VPLEX is great — it's very clean. We can migrate machines and add arrays easily."
"For a new application setup, it worked like a charm."
"VPLEX/VE is an amazing feat of engineering."
"VPLEX offers a large compatibility matrix and valuable features."
"It’s a great product; very reliable."
"Mobility enables us to carry out an internal migration of data."
"With the help of EMC VPLEX we simplified the architecture and improved the response time."
"Everpure Cloud is cost-effective, and in our comparisons with the Dell PowerMax solution we were able to negotiate better commercial terms while achieving performance that is similar and close to the same performance we get on PowerMax."
"Everpure Cloud positively impacts my organization by enabling me to provision LUNs and manage everything from the cloud side conveniently, and having everything on a single platform allows me to resolve issues easily and minimizes downtime."

Cons

"Based on our requirements, we bought this product for doing online data migrations without data disruption, but we realized that there is a limit to backend storage that can be encapsulate to it."
"Initial setup was a little bit complex when connecting to VMAX."
"With Dell VPLEX, there are some bugs with Broadcom."
"Dell VPLEX should improve its integration and user interface and be easier to configure."
"These are all pretty trivial for larger customers but VNXe as a main production storage array running a workload important enough to give it a multi-site stretched vSphere cluster is something I think is unlikely to be present in those customers."
"It needs to improve the thin reclaim on certain arrays."
"The administration is difficult, so we want to add hyper-converged infrastructure."
"Today, it needs a huge effort that is not acceptable during disaster recovery."
"I would like to see improved unified storage capabilities. Although they call it unified storage, Everpure Cloud is lagging behind for file workloads."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"VPLEX is a little bit expensive in my personal opinion."
"We struck a great deal with Dell EMC, so for us, VPLEX was not very expensive."
