Manageable, provides excellent support, and easily integrates with other products
One central area for improvement in Cisco is its product line offering. Cisco has ISE and other products, such as DNS Center and other components. Instead of small to medium-sized customers purchasing devices and maintaining the devices, it would be great if customers could have subscriptions. A CAPEX/OPEX model instead of that Cisco code, where the pricing model is subscription-based, would give much better flexibility for the customers. The pricing and model for Cisco Cloud Services Router and other Cisco products could be improved. One good example of what I want to be added to the Cisco Cloud Services Router in its next version is for it to be more of a plug-and-play product. For example, Juniper has developed QR codes, so if you need to plug in a device, you scan from your phone and connect to the internet. That's it. You can provision the device remotely through the cloud orchestrator, so I want to see a similar function or feature in Cisco Cloud Services Router.

Routing has supported carrier-grade services and has needed more affordable security options
The features of Juniper MX Series Routers that I find most useful are its nice scalability, redundant power supply, and routing engines. Redundancy is maintained in the router itself, including power redundancy and routing engine redundancy. The routers run mostly all the protocols required for the managed service provider, and security-wise, they also have good features, allowing us to provide IPSec VPN services from the routers. These are the basic, mostly used features that we are utilizing. For Deep Packet Inspection, Juniper MX Series Routers have firewall filters and commands related to routing engine protection, and then packet inspection features are configured. In traffic management with Juniper MX Series Routers, I leverage the policer, shapers, and quality of service parameters for traffic management. I also use OSPF traffic engineering features and MPLS-TE; these are a few features that I employ for traffic management.

"Overall, it is a solid product and a good router."
"It provides us with highly secure, reliable, and easy-to-manage 3G/4G LTE WAN cellular and wireless LAN connectivity for mobile environments."
"It handles stress very well. We have not reached a point of needing to worry about its capabilities."
"The most valuable feature is the SNMP traps that I use to monitor the router and the availability of the network."
"The most important feature is that it is designed for mobile vehicle communication in harsh conditions."
"I would rate the stability a ten out of ten. We never had any issues."
"The solution's main features are its security and ease of use."
"Technical support is great, they are responsible and experienced, and we have been satisfied with the level of support we get."
"Overall, I find this to be a good product; the features are completely stable and customers are happy with their investment, although there is occasionally an issue with the reliability of certain modules."
"It is a very stable product."
"I would say it is very user-friendly."
"The flexibility of the MPLS configuration is very good."
"Juniper routers are very capable and can be scalable."

Cons

"There should be a system in place to help existing users make an easier transition to the newer interfaces."
"Cisco Cloud Services Router could improve by having more features. It is lacking features, such as virtualization and containerization. Additionally, there should be increased security and connectivity between routers."
"The ease of use within the AWS environment needs to improve. Sometimes, it is very esoteric in how you use it. Therefore, you have to learn to use it, then you are able to."
"The AWS version seems to be a lot less reliable, and we had a lot of issues with the initial configuration."
"A CAPEX/OPEX model, where the pricing model is subscription-based, would give much better flexibility for the customers. The pricing and model for Cisco Cloud Services Router and other Cisco products could be improved."
"Cost is a big factor. We would like to see the price reduced."
"Over the past couple of years, I've noticed that the Cisco CLIs and web-based interfaces have changed. As such, there is a bit of a learning curve for people."
"Technical support could be better. I am missing a single pane of glass, where I can see all the connections, etc."
"Currently, I don't have specific concerns or ideas for improvement. Regarding functionalities, I appreciate the user interface of Juniper Elite. Additionally, I'm exploring the use of Juniper Routers in a Parliament environment, particularly with Baragon, and so far, I find it to be a valuable feature. We're currently facing an issue as we're in the process of building and dealing with the software, specifically transitioning from R2 to RC. It's like when there is an update in the routers, and in the process, there are chances to end up losing some of your settings. The challenge arises because the recommended configurations for RC do not align with our features, necessitating a reevaluation of many features. It would have been more efficient if the initial recommendation had been for RC, avoiding the need to redo our research. This has resulted in a loss of time for us, and we've encountered this situation multiple times."
"In my opinion, to improve Juniper MX Series Routers, Juniper should make the MS-MIC card required for IPSec support more affordable, as it is currently costly."
"It is not scalable, unfortunately."
"Finding market expertise is hard."
"The integration could be better. It was a difficult configuration with integration with other systems."
"The solution could improve by providing better training to allow more sales of the solution in the market."
"There are areas for improvement in Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. One aspect that could be enhanced is the pricing; many clients acknowledge the quality of Juniper switches but find the pricing challenging, especially when compared to competitors like Huawei. Additionally, from a feature perspective, there's a desire for improved clarity and ease of configuration in Juniper switches. Some users find it difficult to understand and configure certain aspects, necessitating the use of external tools. This complexity, especially for Internet service providers, can be a barrier. Addressing these concerns could further strengthen the position of Juniper switches in the market."
"Better documentation to assist with implementation would be helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost needs improvement. It is very expensive through the AWS Marketplace."
"We never buy the product on the AWS Marketplace. We only download it. We always use BYOL. We never buy the license in the AWS Marketplace, because it's very expensive."
"The should make the Dynamic Multipoint VPN solution more affordable."
"The price is a little high, more than what we wanted to pay. This is one area where we would like to understanding how the price could be brought down a bit more."
"Purchasing it through the AWS Marketplace was very simple. We went through the AWS Marketplace because it was the easiest way to get the product up and running very quickly."
"The pricing is good for what it offers."
"Purchasing the product on the AWS Marketplace was very simplistic. Our organization was trying to centralize our billing costs, and simplicity was best."
"We would prefer to go through the vendor instead of AWS, as we have a relationship with the vendor and can get discounts directly from them. Going through the vendor, it is much cheaper for us. Though, we would still keep it hosted on AWS."
"The pricing of Juniper MX Series Routers is okay compared to other technologies."
"I would rate it around a three. While I'm not deeply involved in pricing discussions, I believe it is comparatively more affordable than Cisco."
"The price of this solution is better than other competitors, such as Cisco. We receive a lot of discounts which make the price less expensive and attractive."
"There is a license for this solution and the price is very competitive. The cost is less expensive than some competitors, such as Cisco. There are additional costs for support licenses."
"The solution is more expensive compared to other solutions."
"The prices for Juniper MX Series Routers are reasonable."
"I would rate the pricing model a seven out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. It is not cheap."
"$300 to $400 is the hardware cost and for licensing cost, it may be around, for support and all, $100 per year."
