Simplified threat detection and reduced policy deployment time
The standout features of Check Point Security Management are unified policy management, real-time visibility, and automation capabilities, making it a powerful tool for security management. Consistency across environments with Check Point Security Management helps me ensure that instead of maintaining separate rules for firewalls, cloud workloads, and data centers, we apply one unified policy that covers them all. This reduces misconfigurations and ensures compliance, proving to be a time-saver because rolling out a new rule or updating an existing one takes minutes, not hours, because it is propagated everywhere automatically. Automation is one of the most valuable aspects of Check Point Security Management, and it often does not get enough attention compared to headline features like unified policies or visibility. With policy automation, routine tasks such as rule creation, compliance checks, or policy updates can be automated, reducing human error and saving hours of manual work. Check Point Security Management has simplified administration in my organization because instead of juggling multiple consoles, everything is managed from a single pane of glass. This has reduced complexity and saved significant time for our IT team, improving our operational efficiency. For a policy update, I used to spend two or three hours across multiple consoles. Now, with unified management in Check Point Security Management, it takes thirty to forty minutes, resulting in about a seventy percent reduction in effort, greatly boosting productivity.

It consolidates all logs into one place and provides required features and functionalities
Every once in a while, our IBM cloud operational implementation gets behind. Sometimes, when we have a customer event, we do not get access to the latest logs for about 30 minutes, particularly for the sites that are heavily utilized. This is clearly not good. It is impossible to do RCA when you can't look at the logs that pertain to the time period in which the event occurred. It could be more of an operational problem than a feature problem. I don't have visibility about whether it is a LogDNA issue or just an operational issue.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"HA Structure provides good coverage and works fine."
"It has brought significant improvements, including features like spam and anti-spam measures, intrusion prevention (IPS), and advanced filtering."
"Check Point Security Management has had a very positive impact on my organization by making security operations more efficient and reliable."
"Based on my experience with Check Point Security Management, it is an excellent solution for managing all security gateways from a central console where I can access all logs and security events triggering on different security gateways."
"Security Management gives us complete visibility into our security operations, allowing administrators to identify and address problem areas, reduce unnecessary costs, and improve efficiency. It offers detailed reports on network usage and security, which helps my company to monitor and control its security expenses."
"Check Point Security Management has had a very positive impact on our organization, as the centralized console has reduced the time spent managing policies across sites by more than half."
"Having the possibility to use Smart Event to check for threats on a broader scale helps after a security incident and also makes it easier to check - instead of looking through different logs."
"One of the most outstanding characteristics of its centralized administration is its great computing power."
"The solution aggregates all event streams, so that if there are any issues, it's all in the same interface."
"We haven't had anything yet that we couldn't do through LogDNA."
"LogDNA consolidates all logs into one place, which is super valuable."
"With LogDNA, which brings all the logs together in an interleaved stream, it allows us to take a transaction and relate it to other contextual events making the gathering of evidence for auditors and our internal RCA much more productive."

Cons

"In my experience, the place they can improve the most is in the technical support where I have had some serious problems that could not be solved in time due to a lack of knowledge of the assigned engineer."
"When the logs are too heavy for the security management server, the CPU spike will be high, causing our management day-to-day activity to lag or become difficult."
"Policy installation time can be reduced."
"Sometimes there are some performance issues that cause certain operations to run slowly, however, that may just be due to the hardware it is running on needing to be stronger."
"We are not sure if there is a centralized security console available. It would be beneficial if all firewalls could be integrated under one management console."
"Also, the cost of the license is too high, it's too expensive."
"Check Point Security Management can be improved; the recent R82 version is AI-enabled with increased security but I have encountered issues during upgrades, requiring backups to prevent potential disasters."
"The Security Management server could be improved."
"No ability to encapsulate a query or a filter, and communicate or share that among the team."
"Every once in a while, our IBM cloud operational implementation gets behind. Sometimes, when we have a customer event, we do not get access to the latest logs for about 30 minutes, particularly for the sites that are heavily utilized. This is clearly not good. I don't have visibility about whether it is a LogDNA issue or just an operational issue."
"Scalability could be improved; we are using it through the IBM cloud deployment and on some of the data centers that are very heavily used, there is a significant lag in the event stream, sometimes 10, 15 minutes behind, which makes the RCA impossible."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If one will be very expensive, and ten means low price, I rate the tool's price as a three out of ten."
"Check Point is much cheaper than the competition ($4/server as compared to $17/server)."
"Do the homework because Check Point is rather expensive."
"The solution is expensive and there is an annual license."
"This product can be used for 25 security gateways on a basic license."
"The solution is expensive."
"Price-wise, it is an expensive solution."
"The pricing can be estimated around 3 or 4 out of 10 in terms of expense."
