We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I'm a big fan of SecureX, Cisco's platform for tying together all the different security tools. It has a lot of flexibility and even a lot of third-party or non-Cisco integration. I feel like that's a really valuable tool.""The most valuable feature is the access control list (ACL).""There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""Provides good integrations and reporting.""Web filtering is a big improvement for us. The previous version we used, the AC520, did not have that feature included. It was not very easy for us, especially because the environment had to be isolated and we needed to get updates from outside, such as Windows patches. That feature has really helped us when we are going outside to pull those patches.""The content filtering is good.""I like that Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is reliable. Support is also good.""I have access to the web version of Cisco Talos to see the reputation of IP addresses. I find this very helpful. It provides important information for my company to obtain the reputation of IP addresses. The information in Talos is quite complete."

"SSL/TLS traffic inspection features are used for advanced threat prevention against secure SSL traffic.""Check Point is one of the few solutions that pay attention to cloud security. Many others mostly focus on providing on-premises solutions.""Check Point CloudGuard technical support is good.""The solution has been quite stable.""This solution brings us closer to having a better security score, which helps us a lot in complying with information regulations based on security.""The comprehensiveness of the CloudGuard’s threat prevention security is great, especially once they integrate Dome9 in the whole thing. That really ties the whole thing together, so you can tie your entire cloud environment together into one central location, which is nice. Previously, we had three or four different tools that we were trying to leverage to do the same stuff that we are able to do with CloudGuard.""It really is a pretty complete solution.""I like the firewall and the virtual machine. I also like that it's compatible with Amazon Web Services and Azure."

"Remote access is excellent.""The solution is easy to use and the Panorama feature is good. The software management or the malware blocking and some authentication management system are good.""The most valuable feature of this solution is how it keeps up-to-date with viruses.""It gives a more accurate assessment of a virus in terms of whether it's truly a virus, malware, or a false positive. We have some legacy software that could pop up as being something that is malware. WildFire goes through and inspects it, and then it comes back and lets us know if it's a false positive. Usually, when it finds out that it's not a virus, it lets us know that it's benign, and it can exclude it from that scan, which means I don't even have to worry about that one popping up anymore.""You have better control because you define apps. You just don't define ports. You define apps, and the apps are monitored in the traffic. It is more specific than the Cisco firewall when it comes to our needs.""Intuitive threat prevention and analysis solution, with a machine learning feature. Scalable, stable, and protects against zero-day threats.""The most valuable features of this solution are sandbox capabilities.""The most valuable features are all of the security features in terms of protection and SSL and VPN."

Cons
"I believe that the current feature set of the device is very good and the only thing that Cisco should work on is improving the user experience with the device.""They could improve by having more skilled, high-level engineers that are available around the clock. I know that's an easy thing to say and a hard thing to do.""Web filtering needs improvement because sometimes the URL is miscategorized.""It would be great if some of the load times were faster.""Maybe the dashboard could be a bit better.""Implementations require the use of a console. It would help if the console was embedded.""In a future release, it would be ideal if they could offer an open interface to other security products so that we could easily connect to our own open industry standard.""The maturity needs to be better."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons →

"CheckPoint CloudGuard could be better at solving cases.""The solution lacks the capability to scale effectively.""This application can be more integrated with web application firewalls. Better integrations would provide more granularity, which would be helpful for focusing on the application itself and preventing attacks. It would be good to include the cross-domain search. If you have multiple firewalls that are managed on the same platform and you want to check who is using some particular objects or where a specific ID is being used, it should provide an option for this kind of search instead of having to check one by one on each firewall.""As an administrator, I can say that among all of the Check Point products I have been working with so far, the Virtual Systems solution is one of the most difficult.""The initial setup is complex and could be made simpler.""Check Point CloudGuard Network Security could improve by making it easier to configure.""The memory and hard disk capability could be strengthened.""It is somewhat problematic in the area of the cloud."

More Check Point CloudGuard Network Security Cons →

"They can keep on doing more updates. As new malware and viruses are coming out, they can make sure that WildFire is up to date.""The only problem with this solution is the cost. It's expensive.""The cost of the solution is excessively high.""In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of Palo Alto Networks WildFire, each release is based on malware that has been identified. The key problem is an average of six months from the time malware is written to the time it's discovered and a signature is created for it. The only advice that I can give is for them to shorten that timeframe. I don't know how they would do it, but if they shorten that, for example, cut it in half, they'll make themselves more famous.""The cost of this solution could still be improved, in particular, giving product discounts for charitable causes.""Our main concern is that everything has to be synced with the WildFire Cloud and has to be checked through the subscription.""Management and web filtering can be improved. There should also be better reporting, particularly around web filtering.""The support is good but they could be faster."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Cisco, as we all know, is expensive, but for the money you are paying, you know that you are also getting top-notch documentation as well as support if needed."
  • "This product requires licenses for advanced features including Snort, IPS, and malware detection."
  • "This product is expensive."
  • "For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive."
  • "The price of Firepower is not bad compared to other products."
  • "The solution was chosen because of its price compared to other similar solutions."
  • "The price is comparable."
  • "It definitely competes with the other vendors in the market."
  • More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing of CloudGuard is pretty fair when you have a single account. It's comparable with other cloud providers. But for our use case, it got really pricey when we had to deploy multiple CloudGuards on multiple accounts in different regions, because you can't have CloudGuard protecting multiple regions. That's the big thing."
  • "The pricing and licensing have been good. We just had to do a license increase for our portion of it. We had that done within a couple of days. Given the fact that it's purely a software-based license, it ends up being even quicker than doing it for an on-prem firewall."
  • "It is not expensive, but it is a little bit above the middle range. There are other solutions that are a little more expensive than this, but they also have some interesting features."
  • "The price could be better."
  • "You get charged only for what resources you choose and how much traffic actually passes through the firewall, which in turn saves a lot of money."
  • "Although I don't have specifics for pricing, based on my overall experience, I can conclude that Check Point provides the best pricing when comparing to other vendors."
  • "Licensing is available on a monthly or yearly basis."
  • "The cost is on the higher side, as it is based on workload, hence we need to decide which VPC or workload needs to be part of CloudGuard."
  • More Check Point CloudGuard Network Security Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The price is a bit higher than the other products such as TrendMicro, or FireEye."
  • "Pricing could be improved."
  • "We are on an annual subscription. When we purchased the firewall, we had activated this solutions license for a minimum of one year. The price of the solution is fair."
  • "It depends on the features. Additional features cost additional money as well."
  • "The solution is overpriced."
  • "The price of the Palo Alto Networks WildFire license is expensive. When it came time to renew the solution the price doubled."
  • "WildFire is a little bit pricey. Sometimes it's difficult to sell it to customers at the current price."
  • "The physical appliance is around €3,000 or €4,000, and then, you have the licensing for a year for around €3,000."

Cisco NGFW automates security tasks like impact assessment, policy management and tuning, and user identification.

    Reviews from Real Users

Cisco NGFW stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its extensive discovery abilities that enable you to constantly see what is happening on your network and take action when necessary, and the high level of protection it provides.

Mike B., a director of IT security at a wellness & fitness company, writes, "It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective."

Zhulien K., the lead network security engineer at TechnoCore LTD, notes, " The most valuable feature that Cisco Firepower NGFW provides for us is the Intrusion policy. Again, with that being said, I cannot shy away from giving kudos to all of the other features such as AVC (Application Visibility and Control), SSL Decryption, Identity policy, Correlation policy, REST API, and more. All of the features that are incorporated in the Cisco Firepower NGFW are awesome and easy to configure if you know what you are doing. Things almost always work, unless you hit a bug, which is fixed with a simple software update. "

Check Point CloudGuard provides unified cloud native security for all your assets and workloads, giving you the confidence to automate security, prevent threats, and manage posture – everywhere – across your multi-cloud environment.

WildFire™ cloud-based threat analysis service is the industry’s most advanced analysis and prevention engine for highly evasive zero-day exploits and malware. The cloud-based service employs a unique multi-technique approach combining dynamic and static analysis, innovative machine learning techniques, and a groundbreaking bare metal analysis environment to detect and prevent even the most evasive threats.
