Unified security and sd-wan have improved uptime and cut wan costs for multi-site branches
Users report stability issues in certain versions, which requires regular updates. Real-world attacks have also highlighted the need for urgent patching of vulnerabilities.Fortinet FortiGate, while a powerful and feature-rich web firewall, could improve in areas like firmware stability, documentation, and ease of use. The learning curve can be steep for some users. For beginners, support quality can vary, and frequent updates with occasional vulnerabilities call for careful patch management. However, once Fortinet FortiGate is configured, it remains highly reliable and efficient. Customer support needs improvement, as I find it very slow, with reports from other users reflecting that customer support is inadequate.

Cloud security has unified hybrid policies and now protects critical energy workloads continuously
I would say Check Point Cloud Firewall (formerly CloudGuard Network Security) is valuable due to its hybrid cloud security features. It offers granular policy management across the on-premises and cloud environments, giving administrators consistent control for configuration drift. We need to change the policy and the inbound and outbound traffic settings, indicating what traffic must be blocked or allowed, and this capability with Check Point provides significant input into our security strategy. Check Point Cloud Firewall (formerly CloudGuard Network Security) provides unified security management across both hybrid clouds and on-premises environments. Unified security management affects my security operations positively, as we maintain critical systems on the cloud that require strong security and air gap networks. This cloud-native routing and policy installation helps close gaps in protecting critical applications and environments from exposure to the public cloud. From an administrator's perspective, Check Point Cloud Firewall (formerly CloudGuard Network Security) enhances our organization with clearer and more intuitive logging, making decisions easier to understand without deep investigation. In the CloudGuard UI, I can see which threats have triggered alerts, and this information is available on the unified dashboard that provides details of the threat analysis upon alert. As a small team, we log into the console to check specific alerts for high or low network usage or machine shutdowns. If needed, I tune the configuration policy, and the visualizing tools with reporting functionality simplify tracking changes made on the firewall, including the relevant source IP or device names. We ingest logs into our SIEM for detailed oversight, which allows us to monitor any administrative changes. Check Point Cloud Firewall (formerly CloudGuard Network Security) has significantly reduced our organizational risk. We clearly understand our threat landscape and the associated risks. Onboarding the CloudGuard solution directly into our cloud environment has significantly lowered the risks throughout the network and it is easy to launch. When we assess our security posture with third-party assessments, we gain granular visibility into our network pre- and post-CloudGuard installation, showing how we have addressed significant risks and secured vulnerabilities.

"Fortinet FortiGate has a very stable Linux-based operating system that is easy to use."
"The product offers very good security."
"The solution is very, very easy to use."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are the ease of use and the UI; it has always provided me with what I needed and I have no need for additional costs that other solutions have, such as Sophos."
"We managed to reduce the effort and workload as well as the attack surface across our infrastructure. We now have a more continuous policy."
"CloudGuard Network Security provides unified security management across hybrid-clouds as well as on-prem."
"Check Point CloudGuard is proving to be a good solution for both the profit of the company and for deployment for the customer."
"These powerful capabilities position it and allow us to increase cloud security elastically while keeping up with the dynamic requirements of our business."
"Check Point CloudGuard is quick to deploy and easy for the customer to use."
"We get good insights into security, and we are more secure because we have more insights than we would get from other products."
"CloudGuard has closed a significant gap that we had in our environment."
"Its centralized control, ease of use, and flexibility are the most valuable for our data center security."
"I would rate the stability as ten out of ten for IPFire."
"IPFire has prevented any kind of hacking and enables us to comply with customer requirements."

Cons

"The scalability could be better."
"The performance could be a bit better. Right now, I find it to be lacking."
"The support is very poor with FortiGate IPS and they need to look into fixing it. The senior support agent does not honor their commitments when ordering products."
"A couple of things I've seen that need improvement, especially in terms of a hard coding. The driver-level active moment really is out-of-the-box and we have to have contact the customer support and sometimes it is difficult to resolve."
"The issue lies with features available in GUI versus CLI during configuration. When using GUI, I want to accomplish everything there, but sometimes it requires using CLI to ensure proper configuration."
"The UTM filtering control could be improved."
"We have experienced a number of failures when trying to upgrade firmware and the process takes a long time."
"It should have a better pricing plan. It is too expensive."
"The business and product development team should introduce a high-end feedback collection mechanism and analyze the customer requirements constructively."
"The main issue that I have noticed is that for deployment, it still requires a dedicated management server, and the gateway is completely different. That sometimes can cause issues."
"The API integration is complex, which is an area that should be improved."
"Micro-Segmentation functionality for EAST-WEST traffic is not native and requires integration with a third-party OEM."
"Areas for improvement include other Security Features like AntiVirus, AntiSpam, DLP etc."
"If you compare the GUI with the Palo Alto and Forcepoint in the Cisco, they're very easy. Check Point, due to its design, is a little bit complex. They should make the GUI easy to use so that anyone can understand it easily, like Fortinet's GUI. Many companies end up using Fortinet because the GUI is very easy, and there's no need for training. They just deploy the box and do the configuration."
"The solution is not that flexible when deploying on-prem."
"Support is one area where efforts should be required from Check Point."
"The graphical interface could be much better."
"Accessing the internet was a bit complicated."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We purchased a five-year bundle package, which worked out cheaper than competing solutions."
"The pricing is perfect."
"For the performance that we get, the price is reasonable. There are cheaper options, but they may not deliver the same kind of performance that we want. For the performance they provide, the price is acceptable."
"Fortinet FortiGate IPS' licensing is quite simple to understand."
"It is expensive. You need to pay for the subscription every year, which is very expensive. The subscription includes technical support and hardware exchange in case of failure."
"It's a year based license."
"The price is okay."
"Go for long term pricing negotiated at the time of purchase."
"It's not very expensive. It isn't very cheap either. Its price is okay. It depends on how much money you have. It might be expensive for some companies. Its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"It is fairly priced, but it can be a little expensive from time to time."
"The tool's pricing is been higher than other solutions, but it seems like it's turning downwards."
"We are using our BYOL. We are using our existing Check Point discounts to work with licensing. Overall, it is very competitive. Its pricing is reasonable to me."
"The product is expensive but also valuable."
"Generally, it has been fine for me. I can find my way around the price list, and it is pretty simple."
"I do not have too much to compare to, but if I compare it with Azure Firewall, Scale Set is quite good. It has quite a good price."
"We pay approximately ‎€150,000 ($166,000 USD) per year."
