Expandable with good real-time live interactions but is very expensive
Initially, Blackboard had problems for faculty members who were forced to use it to try to get it set up and running. That said, over time, they improved that. Unfortunately, due to its licensing requirements on standalone systems, like at a university on our servers, we run into problems where we can only set it up in one way. The way you teach a biology class is not the way you teach a social science class, for example. It's not flexible. Often you are forced into compromising in such a manner that neither group would be happy. If you need help, the help desk in-house will provide 24-hour help to both students and faculty. That means you have eight people, eight hours a day, supervisors, and an overall manager. It takes at least 12 people to handle maintenance for a 10,000-person campus for 24-hour coverage.

Offers affordable beginner courses but can improve by providing courses on the latest tech launches
Udemy Business can improve by providing courses on the latest tech launches that might have been released in the last six months. The solution can witness a steep jump in subscribers once it includes more basic courses on the latest technologies or trends; it takes at least a year in most cases for professionals to get started learning with any new or latest tech solutions. If Udemy Business can offer courses before the marketing understanding of the latest product flourishes or the demand for specific product skills increases, then the platform host can capture a major market. Most of the market is moving towards SaaS or cloud platforms, and many users don't have access to the cloud for the cost, so Udemy Business can offer shared platform services where users can avail of practice sessions on specific products or tools. Along with the tutorial, if Udemy Business is able to partner with solution providers to provide the users with a hands-on experience, then it will be a complete package.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is scalable."
"One of Blackboard's strengths is its historical prominence as a leading LMS for universities in the US and Europe a decade or more ago."
"One of the most important features is the possibility of creating unlimited subdomains."
"The solution is easy to use."
"It encompasses various components, including course delivery modules, content management, community engagement features, digital classrooms, and mobile integration."
"Blackboard enables instructors to collectively gather all the grading data into one place. If students upload content or post it to a Google Doc, I can do my grading and calculate the grades. It is an excellent holding place for all of that data"
"The modules and courses are flexible."
"The platform is user-friendly and straightforward to navigate."
"The solution provides platforms for hands-on practice."
"The Udemy Business platform has a list of courses and a dashboard."
"What attracted us most to Udemy Business was the content. The amount of content on the platform covers all our requirements. Secondly, I would mention the structure of the e-learning platform. Those are the most important things to me. It is also easy to use."
"The main advantage of Udemy Business is its region-based learning. For example, if a learner from India wants to learn technology, they can find instructors from India who understand their learning style and thought process. This makes learning easier and more relatable. Additionally, Udemy Business is a global platform, so learners can access courses from instructors worldwide. A person from the USA or someone with a higher skill set can create videos. Another advantage is the range of available courses, with no limitations on what you can learn. You can get the right content for the specific technology."
"A great platform to start the learning curve for certain categories or topics"
"Udemy Business makes it easy to explore resources. It is easy to integrate with other platforms."
"The solution enables us to train our users."

Cons

"The solution is not flexible."
"Blackboard could benefit from significant improvements in its data storage and software functionality to remain competitive with more innovative LMS solutions."
"Blackboard has limitations in terms of delivering content and assessing student assignments because it can't handle large file sizes. It's also limited in its ability to track student activity. Instructors can see the student's most recent login, but they can't follow the activity."
"It would be ideal to create a more responsive or more intuitive template for access from telephones or tablets."
"The solution must provide better integration with third-party software."
"The system falls short in terms of managing assessments and exams effectively."
"The product must provide fewer updates."
"One area for improvement is ensuring that courses are updated regularly. Often, courses are not updated according to the schedule mentioned by the instructors. It would be beneficial if Udemy Business had a process to evaluate and ensure timely course updates."
"We can have something like an organization account. Even for small groups, if we can have some account where we can create a group. Right now I either purchase a course license or attend free courses and then send the link to my team members to join from their accounts. Instead of that, maybe we can have a corporate or group account where we can add people and assign courses to them."
"The tool needs to improve courses on recent advancements."
"I want the tool to improve by providing more learning opportunities in various dimensions or purposes. Additionally, it would be beneficial if there were specific examples related to our domain, as it would help us understand how to apply what we've learned to our business."
"Udemy should offer more courses on network troubleshooting and provide easy lectures for everyone to understand, starting from the basics."
"Most of the courses that I would also like to enroll myself in are not free."
"The tool must be made easier for new users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"At the beginning, you can choose a basic plan. As your users grow you can buy a more expensive license."
"The product pricing tends to be higher than alternatives."
"We have individual subscriptions for five to six users."
"The tool is very affordable."
"The platform offers decent pricing"
"I suppose there is a license for the tool at the company level, but not for individuals."
"The tool's pricing is good and reasonable."
"The system provides good value for its cost, as evidenced by its widespread adoption across organizations of various sizes. Whether it's mid-level or high-level organizations, many are implementing it. Pricing is based on subscriptions and the number of users."
"You can purchase individual courses and complete them at your own pace. If you want to explore more topics, you can purchase additional courses. It's a one-time purchase for each course, not a monthly subscription."
"I didn't take any licenses. I purchased courses."
