Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"BigID integrates well with our other products.""I like BigID's in-depth discovery and scanning capabilities, especially for unstructured data. This feature is a standout compared to competitors. The tool's data classification capabilities are impressive. It offers custom classifiers and a blend of regular exploration and artificial intelligence, making it a next-generation solution. This enhances data security, and its security posture management is straightforward and user-friendly.""The features that I have found most valuable are the user experience, the credentialing, and that BigID is user friendly. Additionally, you can deploy to several other Microsoft platforms and you can use it for other things, like a bigger element or a report.""BigID's scanning feature is its most valuable component.""One of the most valuable things in a data-focused world is a tool, a technology that's data-centric, not trying to master data management or whatever else. It's a source of truth for what data an organization holds, giving it the ability to catalog, categorize, and understand its data."

"Dome9 wraps our FTP infrastructure with its network security configurations, and this also gives us the ability to monitor FTP activity.""The way they offer container security is a big highlight that I have noticed. The solution is also agentless, so the scanning, runtime, really everything is offered directly by CloudGuard.""The feature that I value the most about Check Point CloudGuard CNAPP is the possibility of checking compliance with different standards. This compliance check can be performed for each subscription or service that we have on all the different cloud providers that we use.""We can monitor each activity from our mobile devices, so there is complete visibility of our cloud traffic flows, with threat intelligence provided by Check Point.""The ability to integrate it with Microsoft Azure Sentinel allows us to validate the logs in an even more complex and meaningful way.""The two most valuable features for us are the central firewall administrator and the real-time cloud compliance monitoring.""The most valuable feature is the ability to work with the APIs to integrate into our own backend systems.""The new scanning function is a valuable feature that wasn't available until recently."

Cons
"Improvement could be made in data consent management and data privacy impact assessment.""The tool currently lacks security features.""BigID is expensive. I prefer McAfee.""In terms of what could be improved, when you're looking in a BigID file, you cannot really get the whole file. You have to export it to download it to another platform that allows you to completely view it, or run a program. That was one of the things that was really a disappointing point for me. Not to be able to view everything. There's a lot more data, but you can't get it all at once.""BigID is making some forays into the GRC space, and that's a natural progression. I'd like to see that improve so that data governance is better, data risk is identified, and the ability to control and mitigate it."

More BigID Cons →

"I'd like to see more advanced encryption for local features, which is not present right now.""The biggest thing is the documentation aspect of Dome9 is a little lacking. They were purchased by Check Point about a year and a half to two years ago. When they integrated into Check Point's support system, a lot of the documentation that they had previously got mangled in the transition, e.g., linking to stuff on the Dome9 website that no longer exists. There are still a lot of spaces with incomplete links and stuff that is not as fully explained as it could be.""The accuracy of its remediation is a 7.5 out of 10. Before, I would have given it a ten but now, to handle remediation for fully qualified domain names, it's not working as it did in the past. We're finding some difficulties there.""The solution could be improved with a greater analysis of its Microsoft Security score.""It does not support on-premise deployments such as VMware Tanzu, and this has been a major drawback when it comes to integrations with some applications.""We were demotivated by the lack of native automation modules for the Terraform and Ansible tools.""I’d like to see more integration with third-party tools. For example, it would be helpful to have an integration between Dome9 and ServiceNow to manage security incidents and security changes.""The reporting has a lot of opportunities to continuously improve so that we can continue to show value."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing depends. If you have thousands of data sources to connect and manage, and you struggled with an MDM package in the past, you'll find BigID valuable and even cheap. But if you're a small business, it's probably not the right tool for you."
  • "I think that BigID's pricing is very reasonable."
  • "The solution is not licensed per user but rather based on capacity. For instance, organizations with large amounts of data, such as 50 GB or more, are the ones that typically qualify for BigID."
  • More BigID Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "They support either annual licensing or hourly. At the time of our last negotiation, it was either one or the other, you could not mix or match. I would have liked to mix/match. "
  • "I would advise taking into account the existing number of devices and add a forecast of the number of devices to be added in the coming year or two, to obtain better pricing."
  • "It is a very straightforward licensing model that is based on the number of assets you are discovering and managing with the solution."
  • "The licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads (number of instances) within one license with no additional nor hidden charges. If you want to have 200 workloads under Dome9, then you need to take out two licenses for that. Also, it does not have any impact on cloud billing, as data is shared using the API call. This is well within the limit of free API calls provided by the cloud provider."
  • "I suggest that you pay attention to the product pricing because while there are no tricks, and the licensing model is transparent, the final numbers may surprise you."
  • "Right now, we have licenses on 500 machines, and they are not cheap."
  • "The pricing is tremendous and super cheap. It is shockingly cheap for what you get out of it. I am happy with that. I hope that doesn't get reported back and they increase the prices. I love the pricing and the licensing makes sense. It is just assets: The more stuff that you have, the more you pay."
  • "Licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads within one license and no additional charges."
