Has supported dynamic user segmentation and centralized management across campus networks
The best features of Aruba Switches are their stability and reliability. Hardware failures are rare because the switches have been running for years, and it is uncommon to encounter hardware issues or impacting bugs. From an operational perspective, Aruba Switches are stable and easy to configure through centralized management solutions. Initially managed through AirWave and now through Central, the configuration can be managed easily with audit records and visibility to switch health and other parameters. Another advantage is that Aruba Switches work seamlessly with ClearPass as a NAC server. This integration allows for dynamic policies, dynamic downloadable user roles, and enables seamless segmentation of users for network security. The real-time analytics provided by Aruba Switches for network efficiency are valuable when needed. All information visible in the analytics dashboard is truly helpful. With Aruba Central's migration to AI capability, additional value is being provided, offering more information and making troubleshooting easier with user-friendly features where you can search for anything and receive relevant results.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Our head office is in Kuwait, and we manage all the switches and devices remotely through the cloud, which is very easy to manage without any local IT in these countries."
"It's an excellent product. They're high-quality switches, and nothing has failed in the time that we've had them."
"Aruba's SameNet platform allows for a seamless transition from the data center to access switches, unlike Cisco, which has different operating systems for each."
"Aruba switches are very scalable; they can be integrated with other solutions and can be used with either ClearPass or Cisco ICE."
"The most valuable features are the stability and compatibility with other products."
"Aruba has a good switching solution. It has some basic security features and full switching features for the company. It’s not used as a security device, but it has some basic features like configuring ACL. However, it cannot be used as a complete security solution. The primary thing our clients look for in Aruba, or HPE now since HP acquired Aruba, is cost-effectiveness. Aruba is a good choice if the customer has budget limitations. We recommend Aruba switches because they are less expensive than Cisco but provide the same features."
"The initial installation of Aruba Switches is easy."
"The features I find most valuable in Aruba Switches are their flexibility, reliability, and affordability."
"Huawei switches come in small, medium, and large capacities and can be used for monitoring and switching."
"Huawei Ethernet switches have a price advantage over other solutions; you can buy about four Huawei switches for the price of one Cisco switch."
"Huawei Ethernet switches are easy to use and can be managed using either the GUI or via the command-line."
"The functionality is basically the same as Cisco."
"They're straightforward to set up."
"The Huawei switches are stable, easy to set up, and cheap."
"If you're a small one-on-one organization, then cost-effective-wise, I would recommend it."
"Huawei is very cost-effective and they have all the features, so I would not have a problem recommending it to anybody."

Cons

"The price of these switches is high."
"If we compare Aruba and Cisco at the data center layer, Cisco has its Nexus switch. Aruba provides the new 10000 series, but it does not compare with the Nexus switch."
"They should provide training courses for certification, and have it available on the internet."
"Aruba Switches don't need licenses to activate features and work straight out of the box, which is an advantage over some competitors. This implies less room for complaints compared with other solutions."
"The command-line interface could be easier to use, perhaps having voice control."
"I am forced to consider changing products because other solutions have a better dashboard and a user-friendly interface."
"The biggest issue right now is the delivery timeline. It takes too long to get the product."
"Technical support response time could be better."
"Huawei Ethernet Switches have not automated its firmware."
"The tech support is not very good. It's a bit hard to get tech support for Huawei products."
"There is room for improvement in the customer support and services. The response time could be better."
"The OS, features, and usage aren't great. There's a lack of resources and support."
"Devices should have the ability to configure more easily."
"The only thing that could be better is the security module."
"The graphical user interface could be much better."
"Huawei should focus more on security. They need more products on the security side to improve the security portion."
