Has supported dynamic user segmentation and centralized management across campus networks
The best features of Aruba Switches are their stability and reliability. Hardware failures are rare because the switches have been running for years, and it is uncommon to encounter hardware issues or impacting bugs. From an operational perspective, Aruba Switches are stable and easy to configure through centralized management solutions. Initially managed through AirWave and now through Central, the configuration can be managed easily with audit records and visibility to switch health and other parameters. Another advantage is that Aruba Switches work seamlessly with ClearPass as a NAC server. This integration allows for dynamic policies, dynamic downloadable user roles, and enables seamless segmentation of users for network security. The real-time analytics provided by Aruba Switches for network efficiency are valuable when needed. All information visible in the analytics dashboard is truly helpful. With Aruba Central's migration to AI capability, additional value is being provided, offering more information and making troubleshooting easier with user-friendly features where you can search for anything and receive relevant results.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Aruba's centralized management solution is truly helpful, as direct CLI access to switches is avoided in most situations and configuration, reporting, and other features are excellent."
"The most valuable feature is that we can manage everything centrally using Aruba Cloud Central, which allows us to check the network heartbeat, logs, alerts, finances, and more."
"The initial setup is quite easy. Once you know what you do, it’s easy."
"Our head office is in Kuwait, and we manage all the switches and devices remotely through the cloud, which is very easy to manage without any local IT in these countries."
"Aruba has a good switching solution. It has some basic security features and full switching features for the company. It’s not used as a security device, but it has some basic features like configuring ACL. However, it cannot be used as a complete security solution. The primary thing our clients look for in Aruba, or HPE now since HP acquired Aruba, is cost-effectiveness. Aruba is a good choice if the customer has budget limitations. We recommend Aruba switches because they are less expensive than Cisco but provide the same features."
"Aruba switches are pretty good; they are robust, and they do pretty much everything that Cisco is doing."
"The scalability of Aruba Switches is good, and we are using the solution in an educational institute with over 100 to 500 people."
"The solution's most valuable aspect is its monitoring capabilities; it works great for our organization."
"The initial setup of the solution was easy, it took 20 to 25 minutes."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its network monitoring system."
"If you're a small one-on-one organization, then cost-effective-wise, I would recommend it."
"The Huawei switches are stable, easy to set up, and cheap."
"The most valuable feature of Huawei is that it already provides integration with any automation tool."
"My advice for anybody who is considering this product is not to be afraid of it, just because Huawei is not a true American brand."
"It is a very stable solution."
"The solution is very flexible with many different options."

Cons

"There are many options with the modular switch and you buy cards for it. If you want 48 ports of one gig, you can buy a card for that, but more options would be better."
"I would say that the customization of the switches could be easier to configure."
"The initial setup is relatively complex."
"We had an issue with the hardware where one or two interfaces went down after one and a half years. This issue impacted only one or two interfaces, not the whole hardware."
"We have needed to upgrade software to fix some challenges we experienced. After downloading the latest version of Aruba, these were fixed."
"I would like to see them integrate a monitoring solution."
"Aruba's switches are older so I'd like to see more upgrades. The newer ones may have that built-in. The product could be more user-friendly."
"The interface could be more user-friendly and the dashboard could be improved."
"We had a few issues with integration."
"The documentation needs to be better"
"The web interface is poor, it could be improved."
"The durability of the device can be improved."
"The product’s pricing needs improvement. It could be more stable as well."
"The company needs to provide more on hand training on the product."
"The tech support is not very good. It's a bit hard to get tech support for Huawei products."
"Huawei Ethernet Switches should improve its user interface."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is reasonable."
"Cisco has a higher cost than Aruba Switches."
"Our customers may want better pricing but we are a reseller and a partner, and the pricing that we get is good."
"There is a license to use the solution."
"The product is a bit expensive."
"I am paying for the hardware and Aruba Central licenses, but I would like a version of Aruba Central to come out with a light version with a few features turned off. Ubiquiti and other vendors have free tools. I believe they're looking at that, but it's not out yet. I hope they will release that to make it competitive because I'm using an enterprise-class switch for small businesses. We're looking for some of those capabilities, but not all of them."
"Aruba Switches are very expensive."
"There are no licensing costs for the Aruba Switches."
"The price of Huawei ethernet switches is cheap."
"We only pay one-off instead of paying recurring license fees."
"I would say that the product is cost-effective."
"Huawei Ethernet Switches are very competitively priced, almost 4 out of 10.However, the low price point may sometimes raise concerns about quality for some companies."
"The pricing is good so is rated an eight out of ten."
"The solution's pricing is in the middle, but you will be charged when you upgrade the tenant."
"Huawei comes with a lot of features out of the box that you have to pay extra for with other products. They do charge extra in the licensing for certain additional features."
"Huawei Ethernet Switches are cheaper than other competitors."
