Proactively address issues with seamless monitoring while enhancing custom metrics functionality
We use CloudWatch for monitoring and logging. It helps us monitor our applications' performance, particularly in ensuring that every API hit returns a response within four seconds, which is our SLA. We also monitor invocation errors in Lambda and use CloudWatch alerts to notify us of any issues…

It is a stable solution, but they should make the user interface easier to understand
The solution's initial setup takes work. We have to organize multiple paths and many features. The deployment process takes less than a week. But it takes a month to complete if we want to make the solution smarter by integrating it with various devices. I rate the process as a six out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Amazon CloudWatch's best feature stems from its ability to monitor app performance."
"The monitoring features are valuable."
"The solution effectively monitors golden signals like CPU, page requests, and queues."
"The detection is the most valuable feature."
"CloudWatch immediately hooks up and connects to the KPIs and all the metrics."
"The most valuable feature of Amazon CloudWatch is collecting the logs from Lambda."
"The tool enables live monitoring."
"You can automate actions or use AWS functionalities like auto-scaling, where you can configure the metrics to add more nodes if the threshold is exceeded."
"Incident management is its most valuable feature."
"Their technical support responds quickly and are knowledgable."
"NetWitness Platform is valuable for creating rules that the solution must detect."
"The most valuable features are the threat prediction and network forensics."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to write rules and triggers for network communication, and then being able to investigate based on that."
"The packet capture aspect of it is a valuable feature because it is quite different from a traditional SIEM solution that only carries out investigations based on captured logs."
"The most valuable feature of RSA NetWitness Logs and Packets are the alerts and correlations tools."
"The most valuable feature is the security that it provides."

Cons

"What would make Amazon CloudWatch better is if it includes more on-site checks, particularly status checks on the CPU, network input/output, etc. It would also be helpful if there's built-in swap space, disk, and memory monitoring in Amazon CloudWatch because, at the moment, my team has to configure it manually through a shell script."
"Improvement of SSSD logs would be beneficial."
"I do not know whether or not CloudWatch can be integrated with on-prem services."
"When customers want to see the CPU or memory utilization there is a cost. This should be free to see the utilization."
"The solution's auto-scaling could be improved."
"Maybe Amazon Web Services can improve by providing a library for CloudWatch with some useful features."
"CloudWatch's scalability could be improved."
"The dashboard and the UI could improve in Amazon CloudWatch. Additionally, they should focus on visibility inside the servers with AI and machine learning integrations. This would allow users who are using the solution to see what is happening within the system better."
"We have encountered issues with unresolved crashes."
"The system looks like it is a mix of a bunch of different systems, and nothing looked like it was quite together."
"I'd like to see improvement in its ease of use. It's basically unusable. It's overly complex."
"More customizability is required, which is something that they need to improve on."
"Security needs improvement."
"RSA NetWitness Logs and Packets can improve the threat level aspect, it is lacking compared to other solutions. Whenever any hacking activity or any other threat factor occurred they used to provide the coverages very fast when comparing RSA NetWitness Logs and Packets. I heard the other three solutions, from a discussion with my team members who had experience in other solutions, they used to say that. Whenever any issues happened across the globe RSA NetWitness Logs and Packets are a little bit slow improving those detection mechanisms."
"The initial setup is complex. There are other solutions that are easier to implement."
"If we have the ability to run a dynamic analysis through malware in the same suite, it would be great to have a sandbox solution to analyze malware through dynamic analysis."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a free-of-charge service."
"Amazon CloudWatch is a cheap solution."
"The pricing is average."
"The tool is not expensive."
"Amazon CloudWatch has very cheap pricing, and it hardly costs my company $25-$30 a month for fifty systems, so it's pretty affordable."
"We have monthly licensing costs. The licenses are probably in the vicinity of about $300 - $350/month."
"It’s an open-source solution."
"Its pricing is reasonable. It is sometimes tricky, but it is reasonable as compared to others."
"We are on an annual license for the use of the solution."
"Many clients are not able to purchase the packet capability because there is a huge amount of data, and the cost depends on the number of EPS (Events per second), as well as the number of gigabytes of data per day."
"In comparison to other SIEM solutions such as Splunk, NetWitness is less costly."
"This is a pricey solution; it's not cheap."
"We have yearly licensing costs. The license fee can be based on the volume of EPS. Some organizations may have, as a gentlemanly gesture, 10,000 EPS and get a 3,000 EPS license but actually use 5,000 EPS."
"The new pricing and licensing mechanisms are fair. I would advise always to get the full solution (i.e., not only Logs)."
"There is a licensing fee and the customer can choose whether he wishes this to be subscription-based or perpetual."
"We have a perpetual license, so the total cost of ownership is not very expensive. It's a good investment."
