Simplifies predictive analytics with useful integration features and helpful plugins
I have used Alteryx Designer to perform predictive analytics that helps in predicting the selling of products, particularly in banking and financial areas The main valuable aspect is the simplicity of use across all features. Additionally, I have developed some functionality to integrate Alteryx…

Streaming pipelines have become simpler and onboarding new data sources is now much faster
One of the best features Upsolver offers is the automatic schema evolution. Another good feature is SQL-based streaming transformations. Complex streaming transformations such as cleansing, deduplication, and enrichment were implemented using SQL and drastically reduced the need for custom Spark code. My experience with the SQL-based streaming transformations in Upsolver is that it had a significant positive impact on the overall data engineering workflow. By replacing custom Spark streaming jobs with declarative SQL logic, I simplified development, review, and deployment processes. Data transformations such as parsing, filtering, enrichment, and deduplication could be implemented and modified quickly without rebuilding or redeploying complex code-based pipelines. Upsolver has impacted my organization positively because it brings many benefits. The first one is faster onboarding of new data sources. Another one is more reliable streaming pipelines. Another one is near-real-time data availability, which is very important for us. It also reduced operational effort for data engineering teams. A specific outcome that highlights these benefits is that the time to onboard new sources is reduced from weeks to days. Custom Spark code reduction reached 50 to 40 percent. Pipeline failures are reduced by 70 to 80 percent. Data latency is improved from hours to minutes.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The features I found most valuable are the preparation features – the Join and the Transform."
"When you open a raw Excel file, it can be hard to look at everything in detail. Alteryx makes it much easier to go through the data, summarize it, and use different tools for analysis."
"Alteryx is quite easy to use, learn, and understand as a product."
"The tool's most valuable feature is its API connections. Its predictive analytics feature has helped us pass some ETL processes to analysts rather than developers."
"It has great UI."
"Alteryx Designer's user interface is great, as it is very user-friendly."
"It helps them to create customized workflows, transform data, perform calculations, and consolidate multiple data sources into a target database."
"The product offers very good analytics."
"It was easy to use and set up, with a nearly no-code interface that relied mostly on drag-and-drop functionality."
"The most prominent feature of Upsolver is its function as an ETL tool, allowing data to be moved across platforms and different data technologies."
"A specific outcome that highlights these benefits is that the time to onboard new sources is reduced from weeks to days, custom Spark code reduction reached 50 to 40 percent, pipeline failures are reduced by 70 to 80 percent, and data latency is improved from hours to minutes."
"Customer service is excellent, and I would rate it between eight point five to nine out of ten."

Cons

"For smaller clients with ten to 15 employees, Alteryx can be expensive. The server capabilities are costly too. The technical support could also improve by being quicker in response times."
"For smaller clients with ten to 15 employees, Alteryx can be expensive."
"The major concern in Alteryx Designer stems from the high costs attached to the product."
"I would like to be able to include small snippets of code inside of the solution. The tool has only drag-and-drop features to make it easy to use, but sometimes I feel like this makes it more complicated."
"The product could offer more connectors and more databases with support for the in-database function."
"Improving the key-based sign-on process and making it more user-friendly would be a benefit."
"Alteryx's data science and machine learning capabilities are where it loses out to DataIQ."
"When configuring the Logix, the UA could be improved."
"I think that Upsolver can be improved in orchestration because it is not a full orchestration tool."
"There is room for improvement in query tuning."
"On the stability side, I would rate it seven out of ten. Using multiple cloud providers and data engineering technologies creates complexity, and managing different plugins is not always easy, but they are working on it."
"Upsolver excels in ETL and data aggregation, while ThoughtSpot is strong in natural language processing for querying datasets. Combining these tools can be very effective: Upsolver handles aggregation and ETL, and ThoughtSpot allows for natural language queries. There’s potential for highlighting these integrations in the future."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate Alteryx Designer a six out of ten for pricing."
"The licenses are expensive, making it difficult to consider acquiring additional licenses to the existing ones."
"It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
"Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution."
"The solution is expensive. It has license fees, which are renewable every year."
"The pricing is bit expensive."
"I rate the price of Alteryx Designer as a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is a highly cheap product."
"I rate the price of Alteryx Designer a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
"Upsolver is affordable at approximately $225 per terabyte per year."
