Reliable backup tool ensures quick restoration and peace of mind
I use Acronis for backups. I use it to back up to other drives on the network, back up the entire system, including system images of the Windows C drive and all the data drives. This is for a small business, just myself The reliable tool allows for quick restoration from backup copies, meaning I…

The ability to maintain multiple restore points is critical because it lets customers choose to restore their data to an hour or a day ago
BDRSuite is better than competing solutions because it can protect, back up, and recover data. A feature called live migration allows you to recover the same data in different environments. For example, I can back up the data from a VMware machine and restore it to a Hyper-V. You can also create repositories and back up environments to a cloud platform like GCP and AWS S3 buckets. BDRSuite allows you to back up virtual machines hosted on an EC3 instance or Microsoft 365 mailboxes, SharePoint, etc. The solution allows us to recover data instantly. We can recover all our data in under 15 minutes. In a virtual environment, we can recover a virtual machine and all its data in under 15 minutes. It's the same for a NAS, SAN, or DAS disk. The ability to boot instantly enables customers to maintain their business operations without interruption. BDRSuite's ability to maintain multiple restore points is critical because it gives customers the option to restore their data to an hour or a day ago. They can choose a full, incremental, or synthetic backup. Incremental backup makes sense if you are backing up the same data daily and you want to save space and network resources. It only backs up the differences or updates in every block. I've worked with lots of backup solutions, and BDRSuite is the easiest to use. It's simple to install and create backup jobs. It doesn't require many tasks to install the solution. You can easily back up and restore from one console

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The reliable tool allows for quick restoration from backup copies, meaning I do not have to reload Windows or programs."
"Acronis schedules in the background and does incremental images so it doesn’t take forever to backup."
"The customer service and support are excellent."
"The malware feature is most valuable."
"You can restore all your data or partial parts of it. You can restore a specific version of the data. It has a lot of options for restore, so you can have the correct data that you want to restore. This is very important. You must know what you are going to restore. Otherwise, you may be overwriting correct data with other data. You must know what specific files you are restoring as well as which version. Partial restore is very important because there might be some files which are newer than the backup and some files that are corrupted. You need to restore some files from the backup, but not all the files."
"The network solution is the most important feature, because we have our own backup server and are doing file backups for our customers."
"Adding and removing backup jobs using BDRSuite is easy and also includes great documentation."
"The best part of BDRSuite is how user-friendly it is and how it does not require any maintenance after the initial setup."
"Valuable features include Snapshots and the constant backup for SQL, application services, and Active Directory."
"The main difference I see between Vembu and the other solutions we've tried is that with Vembu, you don't need anybody to tell you what to do. Once you have done the installation you just look at the user interface — it's very friendly — and you can do things yourself without resorting to help from anybody."
"The scalability is good. It can scale. Adding a new server to a foreign location is easy."
"The product is very reliable and works well out of the box; many of our customers are buying it."

Cons

"I had a couple of false positives, but that’s it."
"The configuration needs improvement."
"I originally intended to use Acronis for cloud backup, however, the cloud backup had major problems."
"I originally intended to use Acronis for cloud backup, however, the cloud backup had major problems. After struggling with it for about two years, I switched to Carbonite and have not gone back."
"In the beginning, when we had some hiccups, I would chalk that up more to a learning curve for the product."
"The process is a bit cumbersome when you remove an agent, delete that job, and add the agent to the same server. Even though the agent is already installed in that server, the system does not recognize it. We have to uninstall the current agent, restart the server, install the push agent - a new agent - and then restart the server. I think they should try to avoid that."
"What I would love to see on the dashboard are graphs, per backup job. I want to see the month and the days in it... If a job has failed, when did it actually fail and what percentage of it failed? Did it fail completely, 75 percent or 100 percent or did it only fail partially?"
"The only place where I would really want to see improvement, out the gate, is more granular scheduling... If I want to do an offset or to only do two backups on Friday and Saturday - versus whole hourly incrementals during the week - I don't have that granularity right now."
"The dashboard should more interactive."
"The system died twice and it was apparently the result of corrupted disk sectors. I tried to work with tech support to fix it, but they essentially gave up. So twice, I had to rebuild our server."
"I don't know if it exists, but it would be helpful to get email notifications when there are issues with the backup. I'm sure it probably exists, but I just don't know how to do it. They also have an Azure proxy feature where you can restore to Azure. It's not really well documented. I think they should document how to do that a little better."
"I had a small problem integrating VMware and Hyper-V when customers used a free VMware license to create VMs. This is a problem because many customers use the free version of VMware. There are also some issues backing up old systems. They have a little difficulty but can always get strong support from customer service."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing could have been cheaper."
"It's very affordable. We are very satisfied with the cost. It's very affordable for us."
"It's more affordable than Veeam, so smaller companies can afford to have a solution like this in place, which is very nice."
"The pricing is very good."
"It is affordable. It has value with respect to the features included in the software."
"It's just the license per host with one CPU, but if I did choose offsite cloud replication, they do charge for the data. They charge per gigabyte, or something like that. They have plans."
"We were able to take advantage of a promotional pricing campaign."
"One thing to note is that when you configure which virtual machine you're going to back up, if it's on one physical machine, they license it there. If it automatically fails over to a second machine, the license doesn't automatically move over with it. If they could make that a little more streamlined, that would be an improvement."
