What is our primary use case?
My main area of interest in testing
VulnCheck was vulnerability intelligence and prioritization. I wanted to understand how
VulnCheck enriches vulnerability records with exploit information and provides exploitation context. This information can help security teams distinguish vulnerabilities that need urgent attention from those that can be reviewed according to their risk and environment.
Exploit details included information about known exploits, proof of concept availability, exploit maturity, and exploitation activity. When it comes to rich risk context, additional information helps determine how urgently a vulnerability should be addressed, such as exploitation evidence and vulnerability severity.
I evaluated VulnCheck's vulnerability intelligence capabilities focusing on exploit details, exploitation timelines, and exploit maturity information. This evaluation helped me understand how exploit intelligence can support vulnerability prioritization.
How has it helped my organization?
VulnCheck has positively impacted my organization by saving time and providing exploit intelligence that adds valuable content when reviewing security findings. Rather than relying on severity scores, the team can consider whether exploitation information is available when deciding what to investigate first.
It has reduced the manual effort required to gather vulnerability information and check exploit availability. This made the triage process more focused, though I have not measured an exact amount of time saved.
The exploit intelligence helps the team prioritize vulnerabilities based on exploitation evidence and maturity, allowing them to focus remediation efforts on higher-risk issues first. I would assess that impact using remediation times, outstanding critical vulnerabilities, and confirmed exposure reduction, which may also help reduce vulnerability backlog and improve security posture over time.
What is most valuable?
The best features that VulnCheck offers in my opinion are exploit intelligence, vulnerability enrichment, exploitation timelines, and information about exploit maturity. These details provide content-based insights beyond a basic vulnerability score and help teams make better-informed prioritization decisions.
The exploitation timelines and maturity information have been useful for understanding the status of known exploits. This content can help security teams prioritize vulnerabilities more effectively instead of relying on severity scores.
The exploitation data provides useful content about exploit availability, maturity, and exploitation activity. This information can help security teams understand vulnerability risk and prioritize remediations, although some technical details may be required as cybersecurity knowledge to interpret correctly.
VulnCheck provides useful exploit intelligence, which can help security teams identify vulnerabilities without any exploitation activity and prioritize urgent threats. Exploitation details and maturity information can support faster, more informed threat response decisions.
I am not currently using the Canary Intelligence feature, but I understand its potential value in providing early visibility into emerging exploitation activity and helping security teams prioritize threats.
VulnCheck's operational exploit artifacts can help security teams understand exploit behavior and improve detection and response planning. They may support the development and validation of detection rules and help analysts investigate suspicious activity more effectively.
VulnCheck's scanless exposure insight feature provides visibility into potential external exposure without requiring active scanning in the environment. Its effectiveness depends on the accuracy and coverage of available data, so findings should be validated before making critical security decisions.
VulnCheck's Initial Access Intelligence (IAI) artifacts provide useful context about vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques associated with initial access. This information helps security teams understand potential attack vectors, improve detection strategies, and prioritize defensive measures.
VulnCheck's EVI (Exploit Validation Intelligence) Index adds valuable context to CVE records by providing information about exploit maturity and real-world exploitation evidence. This helps security teams distinguish vulnerabilities with a credible exploitation signal from those that may be less urgent, thereby supporting more informed prioritization and remediation decisions.
VulnCheck's machine-readable intelligence supports security automation by making vulnerability exploit data easier to consume through integrations and APIs. This information helps automate vulnerability enrichment, prioritize findings, and support remediation workflows, with the actual impact depending on integration quality and how extensively the data is used in existing security processes.
What needs improvement?
A clearer onboarding process and more end-to-end integration examples would help new users get started with VulnCheck. I also value flexible reporting, easier ways to customize vulnerability prioritization, and practical guidance for connecting intelligence to existing security tools.
The documentation is useful for understanding vulnerability intelligence. I would mention that more step-by-step tutorials, practical API integration examples, and troubleshooting guides would make it easier for new users.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have evaluated VulnCheck to understand its vulnerability and exploit intelligence capabilities. My experience is limited to the period and features I actually tested rather than long-term product use.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
VulnCheck appears suitable for vulnerability intelligence workflows, but I have not conducted long-term production testing. To independently verify its stability, I would assess its availability by monitoring API availability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
VulnCheck appears scalable for growing security workloads because it offers paginated API queries, bulk data downloads, and documentation regarding limits for larger workloads, although coaching and higher API limits may be needed.
How are customer service and support?
VulnCheck provides customer support through email, and eligible customers can access a dedicated customer success manager and engineer. Support is also available through Slack or Teams, web meetings, and phone calls, which helps with integration, troubleshooting, and product-related queries.
I have not contacted customer support yet, as we are in a trial version. The initial setup and everything was good, so I have not found the necessity for customer support until now.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I considered a general approach of using public vulnerability databases and existing vulnerability information sources. The key difference I wanted to understand is how exploit intelligence and additional vulnerability context could improve prioritization, and I did not conduct a comprehensive comparison of commercial alternatives.
How was the initial setup?
I have used VulnCheck in my organization to deploy in a public cloud.
What was our ROI?
I have not calculated a measurable return on investment. The potential value lies in reducing manual effort in gathering vulnerability information and helping teams prioritize remediation; quantifying ROI would require measuring time spent on triage, remediation outcomes, and integration costs.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with VulnCheck's pricing, setup cost, and licensing has been limited to evaluation. I have not completed a full paid deployment, so I cannot accurately assess the total licensing cost. Before adopting it at scale, I would review the available price plans, usage limits, integration costs, and license terms to understand overall cost and value.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing VulnCheck, I mainly considered existing vulnerability intelligence sources, such as the NVD and CISA's known exploitation vulnerabilities from the KEV catalog. VulnCheck's focus on exploit intelligence, exploit maturity, and real-world exploitation evidence offers additional context for prioritizing vulnerabilities, and I would compare data coverage, update frequency, integration options, and licensing costs before making a final decision.
What other advice do I have?
I rate VulnCheck documentation as eight out of ten if it matches your experience.
I chose the number eight because the documentation can help users understand vulnerability intelligence and exploit maturity. However, as I mentioned previously, more step-by-step tutorials for practical APIs and troubleshooting guides would make onboarding easier.
VulnCheck's vulnerability intelligence supports security governance by helping the team prioritize vulnerabilities using exploit-related information, while access control, secure API key management, and appropriate handling of sensitive security data become more important when integrated into existing workflows. I would also assess the platform's security documentation, access management, and compliance requirements before adopting it in production.
Accurate vulnerability intelligence and reliable exploit information are important for effective security prioritization. VulnCheck's exploit details and maturity information help analysts assess vulnerabilities more effectively. Findings should still be validated against trusted sources and organization environments, and I would evaluate data coverage, update frequency, and consistency before relying on them for critical security decisions.
VulnCheck is worth evaluating if you need vulnerability intelligence and CVE data for security workflows before committing. Test its data coverage, API integration, documentation, and pricing against your requirements to ensure it fits your use case.
