Automated patching has transformed risk-based remediation and now optimizes security workflows
I can highlight two areas for improvement. The first is better reporting flexibility and dashboard customization. Qualys VMDR has a great dashboard that I can customize, but Qualys Patch Management does not have a specific dashboard associated only with patch management and patch compliance. The customization could be improved significantly. The second area is third-party application coverage. Qualys Patch Management works very effectively when patching servers, internal servers, Windows, iOS, or Linux servers. However, when doing application security with third-party applications that require patches, it sometimes fails to complete the patch. The deployment issue with third-party applications needs enhancement, as even with integration, Qualys Patch Management is not able to deploy patches for some third-party applications. These are the two main points I can highlight for improvement.

An MDM solution for controlling and restricting data on devices
Everyone is using high-end devices, such as mobile devices. If they lose their devices, how about the data copied to other devices? Once the device is lost, you can remotely delete all of the data and block the device, preventing anyone from using or reusing it. This will keep your devices secure.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Patch Management supports various software lists when compared to Microsoft Intune. It is especially beneficial for non-Microsoft applications. I can create a schedule, and various patches can be automatically deployed."
"Qualys Patch Management excels with its automated patch scheduling and retrieval."
"The integration of Qualys Gateway Scanner is my favorite feature."
"I would give it a ten out of ten."
"Since implementing Qualys Patch Management, we have seen measurable improvements in remediation speed, reducing our patch turnaround time significantly from four weeks with a compliance of about 60% to about 24 to 48 hours for critical vulnerabilities with an average vulnerability count per device down to around 10."
"Qualys Patch Management helps reduce our client's organizational risk by 50 percent."
"Approximately monthly we are closing around one lakh vulnerabilities now, compared to only 20,000 to 30,000 previously, showcasing almost 70% productivity improvement and time consumption reduction of around 90%."
"Compared to other tools, Qualys is better due to its automation capabilities, which allow us to achieve high compliance rates."
"Scalefusion is easy to use, and they have a broad knowledge base, so you can quickly find answers if you're unsure how to do something. The articles on the knowledge base are well-written, with clear steps on what to do for a specific scenario. That part is well documented."
"Scalefusion has significantly increased the amount of work we can perform and has made it much easier to achieve our goals efficiently by eliminating tedious work and cumbersome processes."
"Its enhanced support for iOS and Windows devices has been particularly beneficial, expanding our service offerings to customers with diverse device environments."

Cons

"Qualys is definitely on the expensive side compared to other products such as Rapid7 or other tools, and that is the major disadvantage Qualys faces because of the cost factor."
"The availability of Qualys Patch Management needs to be improved."
"Currently, there are limitations in downloading patch jobs to view all associated assets and patch statuses."
"However, when doing application security with third-party applications that require patches, it sometimes fails to complete the patch."
"They need to improve the user-friendliness of identifying how many devices are affected by a particular patch. It is not intuitive, and there should be clearer indicators or buttons to access this information easily."
"We dislike having to pay extra. We don't mind paying for additional modules like Certificate View."
"The interface could benefit from improved user experience and quality of life improvements."
"There are certain integration parts that could be improved. Sometimes, legacy operating systems are not supported by Qualys Patch Management, which is an issue."
"It could be easier to put devices on the blocklist. I would like the ability to block a device with a click of a button."
"One area for improvement could be streamlining permissions during initial device setup, especially for corporate-owned devices, to reduce manual user interaction and expedite deployment."
"It could be easier to put devices on the blocklist. I would like the ability to block a device with a click of a button. Currently, we have to sift through different groups to block a device. It would be nice if Scalefusion allowed me to block without moving the device to a different profile. Another helpful feature they could add is the ability to migrate from one MDM to another. I'd also appreciate more extensive cloud storage. They give you 1 GB by default, but sometimes that's not enough."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is fair and within our budget."
"Qualys Patch Management offers a moderate price point, neither cheap nor expensive, considering its comprehensive functionality."
"Its price is competitive in the market. Compared to other solutions like Rapid7, Qualys offers a favorable price point and robust features."
"Qualys Patch Management is expensive."
"Qualys Patch Management is a cost-effective solution for managing our 43,000-plus assets."
"While the cost of Qualys Patch Management is slightly high compared to alternative tools, it is not excessively expensive."
"The licensing cost is more than 2,000 for the whole Americas region"
"The pricing is reasonable and less expensive than the previous tool."
