Ensures streamlined management, simplified infrastructure, and efficient data handling
It has effectively managed our unstructured data, including audio and video files. We've experienced smooth operations without any complaints regarding uploading or downloading videos. While video usage isn't as frequent, we primarily utilize it for downloading videos related to specific incidents for administrators or our police department. We've encountered no issues uploading files of any kind. Transitioning from VMware to Nutanix has highlighted the overall flexibility of Nutanix's platform. Unlike VMware's three-tier system, Nutanix simplifies the learning curve by streamlining operations. The update process, in particular, has been favorable, with no critical issues encountered. The resiliency of Nutanix hasn't been thoroughly tested in our environment so far. However, I routinely check fault tolerance settings to ensure they meet our requirements. During the update process, I've observed critical errors occur as hosts restart, but Nutanix's self-healing mechanism handles these issues seamlessly. The benefit of using Nutanix is evident in several ways. Firstly, we've effectively compressed our storage while significantly expanding our overall storage pool. Previously, our service had a capacity of twenty-five terabytes, but with Nutanix, we've scaled up to a hundred and twenty terabytes physically and approximately fifty terabytes logically. This expansion has been accompanied by noticeable improvements in performance, particularly with reduced latency and IOPS well within the boundaries of our equipment. All our resources are centralized in a single location for managing and running storage: our data center. We operate three Nutanix nodes within this center, effectively managing everything from one central location. We don't have any other locations outside of our data center running a Nutanix cluster. Nutanix's capability to eliminate silos within our organization's storage infrastructure was discussed during our recent call with the engineer. Although we haven't explored this feature extensively yet, there's a forthcoming project where we anticipate leveraging it.One thing I'd appreciate is having a desktop application similar to what VMware offered. With VMware, I could download a separate client program onto my computer, allowing me to log in directly rather than accessing the host through a browser.

A workhorse that enables high availability but support has room for improvement
There is always room for improvement. When a product is marketed, many claims are made, but in reality, it does not always perform as expected. The usability and real-time capabilities could be enhanced. The product can be difficult to use compared to how it is marketed. Technical support also lacks a timely response.

Pros

"Nutanix Unified Storage is easy to use. New employees are able to come up to speed fairly quickly with regard to the day-to-day administration processes."
"The best Nutanix Unified Storage features are its recovery and data speeds. It has resolved the issue of accessing information quickly."
"Nutanix technical support is excellent, with swift responses based on priority."
"Nutanix Objects is reliable."
"The most valuable features are the interface and support."
"Some of the features that we use include replication and snapshot capabilities, especially from remote locations to our data centers. The main benefit our company sees from using Nutanix Unified Storage is simplification. In the past, we used three-tier solutions with a lot of complexity and operational overhead. Now, we want to focus on the layers above. I want to have storage available, but I don't want to have to think about it. I want it to work without any issues."
"The product's initial setup phase was simple."
"We use it mostly in the cloud. It is stable, requires high availability, and works with large datasets seamlessly."
"The solution's most valuable features are its speed, unlimited space, and simplicity of use."
"The most valuable features of the tool are scalability and security."
"It is stable, requires high availability, and works with large datasets seamlessly."
"The technical support for the solution was very nice."
"Oracle Cloud Object Storage is valuable for storing unstructured data, such as text documents and word documents."
"One key feature is that you can make buckets private, requiring pre-authentication and using a specific URL for access. Additionally, the buckets are encrypted by default. The flexibility of public or private buckets and how you grant access are vital security features."

Cons

"Pricing can always be better."
"The GUI is not user-friendly for new users and has room for improvement."
"Another aspect that needs improvement is continuous protection against security threats such as ransomware and potential data leakage."
"Improving quota policies would be advantageous, particularly by offering the option to implement blocking instead of just issuing warnings."
"The solution is very expensive."
"The only thing I would say is missing for us it is FTP protocol compatibility."
"While they are good and they do work, some of the snapshotting and tiering features are not as simple to set up as they could be."
"The graphical user interface could provide more detail. It would be nice if we could click on the service and get some expanded definitions of them. When hiring new people, it's difficult to teach them how everything works, but if they can access everything, they can teach themselves."
"The product can be difficult to use compared to how it is marketed. Technical support also lacks a timely response."
"Sometimes, there are glitches with applying policies. Even when the policy is correct, it might not work consistently. We need to troubleshoot to see if it's a user error or if the policy itself needs adjustment. It usually works after refreshing, but that inconsistency is a minor complexity."
"Cost-wise, it is not an affordable tool if you allocate space, and try to use it some other day."
"I could not find a load balancer in OCI similar to the support provided by Microsoft Azure and AWS."
"The usability and real-time capabilities could be enhanced."
"The solution should provide more customization and the possibility of doing more manual tasks."
"Oracle Cloud Object Storage needs to have an additional bucket for security."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product has an annual licensing fee."
"Compared to other solutions, NUS is cost-effective and efficient. It also has good performance."
"The solution’s pricing could be cheaper."
"Nutanix Unified Storage isn't expensive."
"It is quite expensive otherwise as it comes with three-tier peer underlying hardware."
"Nutanix is very competitive."
"If we compare the cost of Nutanix Objects Storage to other solutions such as VMware licenses, our current choice is Nutanix Objects Storage. This solution is more cost-effective. However, adding VMware to Nutanix would not be a cost-efficient decision, which is why we do not use it anymore."
"The price can always be improved. As a customer, you always seek reasonable solutions within your budget, and they give us little to do a lot. My IT team always has to justify that we are choosing an optimal solution, so the price could be a little lower Maybe the prices could be a little bit lower."
"We have a yearly subscription for the product."
"Disaster recovery (DR) can be expensive."
"Oracle Cloud Object Storage might not be that expensive compared to on-premises solutions."
"During the billing cycle, if I use the tool only for a day, I still need to pay you for a month."
