Locating equipment within facilities is now straightforward and efficient
We mainly use Meraki Location Analytics to locate equipment within our manufacturing facilities. We're not a public-facing organization, so our use case involves finding devices like printers or scanners that need maintenance The best aspect of Meraki Location Analytics is its ease of use.…

Centralized dashboards have transformed workforce trend analysis and speed up decisions
Tableau Enterprise helps us to consolidate the data and visualize daily and weekly trends in a clear and centralized dashboard, offering powerful features such as interactive dashboards, real-time data refreshing, advanced visual analytics, role-based access control, secure data, and seamless interaction with multiple data sources and automated reports. This will help us to analyze trends and collaborate across teams and scale analytics across the organization. These features help my team specifically by centralizing all employees' data in one place. This helps us reduce manual tracking and gives us real-time visibility into work from home versus office trends. The interactive dashboards allow quick decision-making, and the automated refresh time saves us a lot, while role-based access ensures data is shared securely with the right stakeholders. Tableau Enterprise has had a strong positive impact on our organization by improving data visibility, speeding up decision-making, and managing reports efficiently. The team can now access and track trends more effectively, and collaboration has improved using interactive dashboards. Overall, it has enhanced effectiveness and fostered a data-driven culture across the organization. The specific outcomes showing this positive impact include speeding up decision-making, which is the biggest impact because it saves us more time. Reporting time actually reduces sequentially since the dashboards refresh automatically. Data security is stronger, and data accuracy has improved, thanks to a centralized data source. Decision-making is also much faster since leaders can view real-time impacts instead of waiting for manual entry.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I use Location Analytics to identify rogue hotspots and find the last location of missing devices."
"The pricing and licensing for Meraki are good, and I would rate it as a nine out of ten."
"If you can afford this solution, it's worth every dime in terms of what you get out of it."
"I like Location Analytics' geofencing features for devices. You can manage thousands of devices with just a push of a button and deploy applications in seconds. For example, in schools, you can deploy an app update for thousands of iPads in just two clicks."
"In general, it is helpful because it allows administrators to see where the Wi-Fi and network services are being most used."
"The stability of the solution is excellent, and I would rate it a ten out of ten."
"Technical support has always been very good."
"The initial setup process is easy."
"Tableau is good for quick visualization once you have the data, but not such a great interoperable tool or getting to multiple sources without a lot of work and know-how."
"Before Tableau, about 15% of the organization had access to information; now with Tableau, about 80% of the organization have access to our data warehouse, and other information sources such as Excel and SQL Server databases."
"It is very easy to build charts and drag and drop the fields that are there, it automatically identifies the dimensions and measures and makes our life easier when we need to build any dashboard."
"Overall, in my short time using the product, I've been largely happy with the results."
"Tableau is pretty intuitive, it has a great interface, and you can get multiple visualizations."
"If you have the budget, go for it; it’s the best money can get you."
"Tableau helped us to provide our clients with data driven decision making power through utilizing high quality data analytics and visualization so that they can continue to comply with the standards and best practices in their field of business."
"It has helped us tremendously with our everyday reporting and things like that."

Cons

"There are no specific areas for improvement as everything is working very well."
"I would like to see all of the features included in a single package."
"The biggest issue is negotiating the price with a client. That's the most complicated part, but the product is worth it."
"The pricing is a pain point for us. It's a bit expensive."
"The technical support before implementation could be better for premium partners."
"My biggest complaint with Meraki Location Analytics is the lack of visibility into the back end. Everything we do is through a customer GUI, and there's limited access to CLI functions."
"Tableau's data blending feature could use some improvement. Previously, I used other tools, such as Alteryx, for data blending because Tableau had limitations."
"We are limited with the Tableau extract functionality, which is causing an overburden on resources."
"There's no mature ETL tool in Tableau, which is quite a negative for them."
"Improvements can be made in template support. The workbook file structure is really hard to version control. If there was some sort of version control support offered particularly for workbooks, that would help big time."
"Tableau is terrible at handling large data sets, and we knew right away that we couldn't use Tableau to do data manipulation."
"Expansion of number of visualisations, as well as potential for straight to dashboard function, rather than design individual visualisation – these are, however, genuinely not priority to amend."
"My only complaint is that they make assumptions on how your company handles security certificates when using SAML."
"Difficulty when moving outside of the norm where workarounds are needed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"They have different tiers of pricing including one-year, three-year, five-year, seven-year, and ten-year."
"The product is less expensive compared to other vendors for gold partners."
"One of the biggest drawbacks of Tableau is the price, it is expensive. The price should be reduced."
"Deployment of dashboards to viewers and unit supervisors can be prohibitively expensive."
"There is a license for this solution and we pay on an annual basis."
"For data extraction and analysis, Tableau is better than any other tool I have used with the same pricing model."
"I downloaded the solution online for free."
"I like the payment model. For the people who need to create, they buy their licenses. Everyone else can use the free Tableau Viewer. This is much better than some of the competitor products, which require full licences for everything."
"It is a bit overpriced."
"For our organization, the cost hasn't been an issue."
