Easy to use with flexible pricing, but needs more flexibility surrounding integrations
The EPA, from what I understand, lacks a lot of features and it doesn't really know how to interface with legacy systems or how to develop APIs for legacy systems. I'm not sure if it is possible, however, we would like to see features that allow for legacy systems so that they can continue to be developed and managed well. The solution should provide some more general studio features. We should be able to manipulate the platform in order to do some integrations on our own. There needs to be a bit more flexibility.

Its data management capabilities include data quality, data integration, data architecture, modeling, and data security, which are very important for data-driven companies. Furthermore, Oracle Database's performance and scalability features meet workload demands, and its continuous updates improve performance and add valuable features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is very easy to use. I can download the trial version and just give it a go."
"The thing that probably stands out the most about Oracle Database is reliability. I have been working with Oracle Databases for over 25 years, and I have never lost any data due to a machine going down or any events that were not stupid human tricks. I've never lost anybody's data using Oracle. It gets the job done and doesn't fail."
"It has good features for performance tuning."
"A really large and very useful language to process data."
"The solution can scale well."
"The solution is very stable with the performance being very reliable."
"The interface of Oracle Database is very workable and easy to use."
"All of the features offered by Oracle, more than meet the expectations."
"There is a lot of functionality in Oracle Database. The reports and the GUI are good."

Cons

"The EPA, from what I understand, lacks a lot of features and it doesn't really know how to interface with legacy systems or how to develop APIs for legacy systems."
"I would like to see more patches."
"It could be slightly more intuitive, but other than that, we really like it as a solution."
"Oracle is very expensive. So if I suggest Oracle to a client, they'll often say it's too costly."
"It is expensive."
"It needs to be more stable, as recently we have experienced some issues."
"There are a lot of bugs in the Oracle Database, and it would be better if the bugs would be solved more quickly than they are today."
"The licensing model is complicated and could be improved."
"The solution’s integration could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The main issue where I feel that Oracle still has a problem is with the licensing. Licensing is still expensive and the reason why today most startups use other, cheaper databases. Those other databases are much less sophisticated than Oracle."
"Generally, when you buy Oracle Database, and if you're buying it for your own data center on the on-prem side, you have to go by the processor cores and the list price is around $47,500 for the enterprise edition per core."
"The tool's pricing is high and yearly."
"It has an annual subscription. It is an Oracle solution, so it is a bit expensive, but that's fine."
"Its price is a little bit high in terms of competitiveness. It is a little bit expensive. For any additional features, there are additional costs."
"The pricing should be cheaper."
"The solution is expensive."
"The product is costly."
