Cloud governance has improved compliance and currently optimizes costs across providers
The most valuable features that Flexera Cloud Management Platform (CMP) offers are cost visibility, policy-based governance, and optimization insights. It helps identify unused and underutilized resources and enforces policies to avoid unnecessary cloud spending. The centralized view across cloud providers is a big advantage. We have saved money with Flexera Cloud Management Platform (CMP) and using the software has been very helpful for us to remain compliant. Since I have been in this organization, we have been using Flexera Cloud Management Platform (CMP) and I have not used a different solution before. Flexera Cloud Management Platform (CMP) improved compliance so effectively. For example, work that usually took 10 hours to complete now takes four hours, so we are saving six hours of time. Flexera Cloud Management Platform (CMP) impacted us positively. It supports optimization efforts and helps enable better financial planning and governance, matching our cloud consumption with business and budget goals. The centralized view across cloud providers helps my team by improving visibility into cloud storage, usage, and spend, enabling better financial planning and governance. It supports optimization efforts and helps my team align cloud consumption with business and budget goals.

Infrastructure as code has standardized multi-environment provisioning and reduces manual work
The best features I found most useful in IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management are reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure as code with version control, and automated provisioning across environments. I also appreciate the plan and apply workflow because we can review infrastructure changes before deployment and maintain a clear history of what changed. I rely most on the infrastructure as code feature because it gives us a consistent way to manage infrastructure through version-controlled configuration. It also makes changes easier to preview, reproduce, and roll back compared with making changes manually in the cloud console. One thing I wish I had understood earlier regarding the features is the importance of designing Terraform modules and state management properly from the beginning. I also find the integration with CI/CD and policy controls valuable because it helps us enforce standards without adding too much manual work. IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has mainly improved consistency and reduced the time needed to provision and update infrastructure. We have also seen fewer configuration issues because changes go through a standardized version control process instead of being handled manually.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"On the cloud management side, this product works well and there is nothing that our customers have mentioned they would like to have improved."
"With RightScale we now have the ability to provision an entire Data Center and Application stack in less than an hour."
"The most valuable feature is Optima, which is something that we use quite extensively."
"With this platform, users could migrate to the cloud on the go and use public cloud services like Oracle database while integrating with their own local storage."
"Flexera Cloud Management Platform (CMP) impacted us positively; it supports optimization efforts and helps enable better financial planning and governance, matching our cloud consumption with business and budget goals."
"Our customers are getting an ROI after 9 months and increasing productivity five-fold."
"Overall, IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has been a practical solution for standardizing infrastructure management and reducing manual provisioning work."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has positively impacted my organization by significantly reducing manual infrastructure work."
"Before using Terraform, our team used manual setup to create clusters in AWS using the AWS console, which would extend into two to three sprints for one person to set up all those components, and with Terraform and those reusable modules, we were able to minimize it to two to three days with all verifications included."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management has positively impacted my organization as it has been very beneficial for us for quick provisioning of infrastructure since I have been using it for the last two years."

Cons

"Technical support is an area that can be improved."
"There is room for improvement in the integrations and automation flexibility with Flexera Cloud Management Platform (CMP). In some cases, the learning curve can be steep, especially when dealing with more advanced automation or large-scale environments."
"There is a problem with integration due to invalid private node security certificates."
"CAT creation."
"One area for improvement in IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management would be making the initial setup and learning curve simpler, especially around Terraform state, modules, and workspace management."
"IBM HashiCorp Infrastructure Lifecycle Management can be improved with easier onboarding, as newcomers to Terraform and the HashiCorp ecosystem may find it challenging to understand and complete the workflow."
"I feel it is not a perfect ten because, as of now, I am using only the open source version where I have encountered some tricky options, and I still require some AI contribution while creating infrastructures; as of now, it is very hard-coded and involves other manual tasks, which is why I am choosing eight, not ten."
"For platform teams, I would appreciate an easier way to manage changes across a large set of accounts and clusters."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is higher than an open-source product, or CloudForms, or IBM Cloud Pak, but it is still not very high."
