Offers reliability and helps to save on costs
In terms of the impact of container orchestration, I would say that though my company does not currently use a lot of containers, we plan to move to containers. I recommend others to just use the internet than ChatGPT since mostly all issues are already known and very easy to deal with so it is better to use the knowledge from the industry. In terms of the use of Docker for AI projects or workflows, I would say that my company deploys AI applications on Docker, like any other application and pipeline. The tools or practices that have proven to be the most beneficial for our company's AI initiatives are agnostic to Docker. There is nothing special in Docker, and our company just uses it to deploy applications. The value derived from the use of the product revolves around the scalability and the reliability it offers. The product helps with the cost-savings part since it saves time and money linked with the amount of engineers required to spend time on operations. I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

High availability and self-healing mechanisms ensure seamless production builds
The most useful feature of Mirantis Container Cloud ( /products/mirantis-container-cloud-reviews ) for our container management is Kubernetes ( /products/kubernetes-reviews ). It provides a cluster, high availability, and a self-healing mechanism. Its multi-cluster management capability enhances our operational efficiency as it is easy to use, and every deployment is from the CI/CD, which automatically builds and deploys without human interference, reducing our deployment time to a few seconds.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is easy to deploy for clients so it saves a lot of hassle."
"The scalability of Docker is good."
"It is a quite mature technology."
"Docker allows you to run multiple virtual machines independently."
"We find the auto scaling and auto healing functionality of this solution very good."
"The tool helps us in code versioning. I think it's pretty much easy to use and very straightforward. Even if someone is new to the tool, they can easily start using it with a little guidance or theoretical knowledge. Go through the tool and start using it without much struggle."
"I am impressed with the product's independence. We can also deploy it anywhere."
"The initial setup was easy, and you are only required to run commands."
"I like the automation in deployment. I can deploy whenever I want based on the environment, and I can easily roll back to a previous version for testing."
"The product's most valuable feature is cloud simulation to predict application behavior on the cloud."
"Docker is very helpful for taking the code from development and applying it to the end user."
"The most valuable aspect is the excellent support. In addition, the billing system is really easy to understand."
"It is a stable solution. It is nearly perfect. I would rate the stability a ten out of ten."
"The UI is very useful."
"One of the most valuable feature is its scalability because it is easy to work with. Even though I haven't fully removed it before, it's simple to get started and develop further. It's comparable to working with languages like C++ and Python. Python. It is easy to understand and more user-friendly."
"It is a compact, complete solution that performs well."

Cons

"The learning curve with Docker is huge and extensive"
"We would like to see improvement in adding the node into the Docker Swarm cluster, as at present it is a little tricky and requires a lot of manual steps."
"Sometimes, it can become heavy and cause performance issues."
"Docker could improve by having more advanced features."
"Unfortunately, base images are not currently available."
"In terms of communication between services, perhaps the configuration within networks between containers could be improved."
"The solution needs to be more scalable for local machines."
"Stability is an area with a shortcoming."
"With the Mirantis runtime being removed from Kubernetes, which is the industry-wide standard for orchestration of containers, I think it's going in a direction that is not super scalable."
"The initial setup was quite complex."
"Mirantis Container Cloud could improve in simplifying security and compliance management, particularly in vulnerability scanning and patching."
"This solution is open-source and they need to focus on improving the Linux Operating Systems' GUI. It does not have a GUI making it not user-friendly. Additionally, the containers need to improve security and compliance."
"I have consulted Mirantis support for some issues, but the support quality is not good. I suffer from support delays due to timezone differences between India and USA."
"This product will only be useful if it can successfully run legacy applications in the cloud."
"It would be very nice to have a GUI that can be used by any administrator, and not just people who have experience with Docker."
"In my previous years, I have brainstormed about the development of Container software. I have recently shifted focus, but the knowledge gained from those were really helpful. In my experience, Containers have their own complexities and to implement them, open source information is crucial. A software with new features would be beneficial. I suggest to implement a flow-based approach for container sequences, similar to Google Cloud's machine learning. The current process of deploying containers involves too many steps, and a more streamlined method would be appreciated. I've even automated deployment using APIs. Overall, simplifying container management and deployment processes would be valuable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is an open-source solution, so there are no licensing costs."
"I would rate the pricing of Docker as ten out of ten"
"Customers pay for the license through a yearly subscription model, where they pay per license. This means that the license is based on a subscription, and the customer pays annually for each license they use."
"There is a license needed to use Docker."
"Docker is open source. To use a Docker enterprise model, we would need to pay for it."
"Docker is a free tool."
"It's free."
"Regarding pricing, we primarily use AWS for our deployments since we have funding for it. We don't spend much on Docker-specific services, just the containerization product. Docker Hub isn't particularly expensive either, so overall, the pricing is pretty reasonable."
"The pricing and licensing really depends on what your needs are. You could be paying $100 a month to $100,000. It depends on the needs you have from the solution, and the agreement you make."
"Docker is a free solution."
"It is more costly than other products, but it is worth every penny."
"I rate the product price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one means low price and ten means high price."
"We use the free version of this solution."
"With open source, you can use Mirantis completely free."
"The product is not expensive."
"The community edition does not require a license and is completely free."

From a cost perspective, Mirantis Container Cloud is a reasonable choice compared to other solutions. However, for support, it might be better to go with Red Hat, which provides better support. Overall, I would rate Mirantis Container Cloud an eight out of ten.

I recommended the tech guys that haven't used it so far, or if their company is still using the transitional infrastructure, they should give it a try.

My advice is in regards to the security. Many of my customers do not care enough about security, they have a disbelief that once you are in a cloud, you are automatically secure. This sis not the case at all. You need to understand that nothing is guaranteed if you do not follow the right rules. You need proper monitoring tools to keep the work-site safe and secure. It may cost the customer more, but it is worth every penny.
