They have a good methodology for learning how to use the tool.
Denodo's customer support team is very competent and responsive.
If we raise a ticket, it can be resolved or addressed within a reasonable time frame, so support is good.
I can get solutions quickly, and any tickets I submit to Oracle are responded to and resolved rapidly.
If you keep a high priority issue, such as a production impact, they certainly come and address it in no time.
The level three support is better because they know what they are doing.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
7.5
Denodo is scalable and integrates widely but may require additional management for performance and cost efficiency.
Sentiment score
7.6
Oracle Data Integrator scales well, integrating with WebLogic, while configuration and setup impact its performance in various environments.
Sentiment score
7.4
SAP Data Services is highly scalable, effectively supporting varied enterprise sizes with excellent workload management and expansion ratings.
For huge data requests, it cannot scale automatically; admin action is required.
While the solution scales well on a single machine, I have doubts about its scalability when deployed as part of a Java component cluster.
Its complexity in configuring and the requirement to install different connectors for different sources affects its scalability.
If I were to rate it from one to 10, I would say it has a nine to 10 for scalability.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
6.9
Denodo offers robust stability with minor bugs; high reliability improves in the latest version despite complex scenario challenges.
Sentiment score
7.3
Oracle Data Integrator is stable and efficient, with minor configuration challenges resolved in newer versions like 12.1.3 and 12cR2.
Sentiment score
7.6
SAP Data Services is stable and reliable, with occasional crashes but generally user-friendly across various sectors, including telecom.
I would rate it nine out of ten because it is very reliable, always performing as expected.
If JVM does not function properly, it may cause Denodo to fail to connect to different sources.

Room For Improvement

The system needs comprehensive improvements in functionality, integration, support, UI, scalability, security, documentation, and external tool compatibility.
ODI users seek improved performance, usability, integration, and cost-efficiency, with better error handling, authentication, and automation features.
SAP Data Services faces integration, performance, customization, and cost challenges, needing interface improvements and better multilingual and technical support.
Ensuring data caching is up to date is critical.
Denodo needs better communication on how the product can be deployed for specific solutions.
The system has dependencies on other environments, like JVM, which can affect its performance.
If I use a source system like Oracle and a target system like Teradata, ODI will still run, but it struggles a bit with different infrastructures.
Now, they are coming up with many pricing options, which is tricky; they offer one thing for free, but charge for nine others.
The documentation is not up to the mark.

Setup Cost

Denodo pricing is costly, designed for large enterprises, with complex licensing and costs varying by customer needs.
Oracle Data Integrator has complex, costly pricing with various licensing options; discounts and packages can reduce expenses for enterprises.
SAP Data Services pricing is high, appealing to enterprises, with costs influenced by licensing, maintenance, and usage-based models.
Denodo is considered pricey, limiting its use to large enterprises or government organizations that can afford its comprehensive setup.
Denodo's pricing is not affordable for small companies and is more suitable for medium to large enterprises.
ODI is cheaper compared to Informatica PowerCenter and IBM DataStage.

Oracle Data Integrator features flexible, customizable integration with diverse technologies, enhancing performance and efficiency in data integration tasks.
SAP Data Services offers robust ETL, integration, data quality features, user-friendly interface, SQL support, and scalable connectivity.
Denodo's ability to connect to multiple data sources and perform extract-transform-load (ETL) operations on the fly is noteworthy.
The most valuable feature of Denodo is its uniformity of self-site data access types, which allows it to connect to almost any storage technology and feed it transparently.
Denodo supports SQL base, so if you want to join two tables or two views, you can use SQL, which is an advantage as most developers or business people know SQL.
Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is powerful and strong if my system uses Oracle components for environments like OLTP, enterprise data warehouse, or data marts.
SAP is indeed good at all this now, with so many components such as SAP Signavio, SAP EINS, SAP Work Zone, SAP ALM, Cloud ALM, SAP public cloud, SAP private cloud, and BTP, all of which are essential to meet the latest cutting-edge technologies.

Data virtualization and integration enabled while caching and scalability room for improvement
In terms of improvements for Denodo, regarding performance, in cases where there are multiple virtualizations—such as reading from one Denodo view that is virtualized, and from that view there's also virtualization, and another team is reading from that view—if multiple virtualizations happen with no caching in between, it becomes slow. This occurs because it is cascading; whenever at the top level someone is reading data, that request is getting cascaded to the nth level, causing issues, especially in cases such as Power BI reports. We need to consider implementing some persistent layer in between. The scaling process should improve because many things are getting automated. The scale-out part needs to be automated, though I am uncertain whether Denodo has already implemented that feature.

Offers a very good development environment and supports the use of multiple programming languages
We are using a graphical tool called PowerDesigner to create logical and physical models. From that, we create code that can be run by Oracle Data Integrator, which then maps the data based on these models and sends it to its destination. It is currently very integrated with Oracle The Oracle…

Has consistently provided impressive data handling capabilities and robust security features
Some of the most valuable features of SAP Data Services ( /products/sap-data-services-reviews ) include data extraction where SAP is the best in that perspective, but when it comes to analytics or the reporting tool, I prefer to connect with Microsoft Power BI ( /products/microsoft-power-bi-reviews ), which is a fantastic tool. Typically, from an end-user perspective, SAP has a huge amount of data, in terms of terabytes of data, but when you analyze that, the best form of visualization is always through Microsoft Power BI ( /products/microsoft-power-bi-reviews ). SAP Data Services provides a best-in-class return on investment, as SAP's vision and forecast are absolutely amazing. They are ahead of technology, building an ecosystem that meets the standards of the fast-changing digital economy. SAP is indeed good at all this now, with so many components such as SAP Signavio, SAP EINS, SAP Work Zone, SAP ALM ( /categories/application-lifecycle-management-alm-suites ), Cloud ALM ( /categories/application-lifecycle-management-alm-suites ), SAP public cloud, SAP private cloud, and BTP, all of which are essential to meet the latest cutting-edge technologies.
