Support and connection issues affect user experience
I currently work at TCS in a different domain using AWS and Azure cloud backup. I switched from Cognizant to TCS four months ago, where I previously used Cohesity Data Cloud and Cohesity tools. I prefer Cohesity Data Cloud over AWS. While cloud functionality is similar across platforms, Cohesity Data Cloud's console, options, and web console are superior to AWS. The pricing of Cohesity Data Cloud depends on the data volume and retention period. Compared to alternatives, Cohesity Data Cloud is somewhat expensive. Regarding technical aspects, connection issues need to be addressed promptly. I would rate it eight out of ten, as these issues require immediate resolution to meet client requirements. Overall review rating: 9/10.

Offers near-real-time replication for data consistency and continuously introducing new features through upgrades
There are various advantages. First of all, easy to deploy. The only difficult part is the cost factor, licensing. In other ways, the implementation is very, very important. Like, we have not encountered any major challenges with replication. We were able to achieve near-real-time replication. Also, with the switchover failover, we were not getting any technical issues. It's a pretty stable product. Once you configure it, it goes through the rollback, and then Data Guard introduces this snapshot thing. So once the restoration happens, we can go back to the original thing, and we make that a standard. It's a pretty decent and key function for Oracle. So, enterprise organizations go for Oracle only for features like these.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I rate the Cohesity Data Cloud solution a ten out of ten. It's an easy-to-use product that provides substantial value and security."
"My favorite feature of Cohesity Data Cloud is the setup, as it is very fast compared to other solutions; I have worked in different clouds, and Cohesity Data Cloud stands out as superior."
"We use Cohesity Helios primarily in our data management strategy for backup and reporting."
"It has excellent integration for virtualization, which means we can easily protect VMs, virtual machines, which consists mainly of snapshot backups that are quite easy to recover."
"One of the most outstanding features is forever incremental, which provides immutable backups."
"My favorite feature of Cohesity Data Cloud is the setup, as it is very fast compared to other solutions; I have worked in different clouds, and Cohesity Data Cloud stands out as superior."
"The clone feature is very nice. You can restore workloads onto Cohesity's storage, which is also nice to have when you don't have enough space to restore on the server."
"The hyper-converged architecture and scalability are hugely important for growing service companies."
"One of the most valuable features is real-time replication. The version we're using is reliable and easy to deploy."
"The solution is really very stable. One good thing about it, compared to other products, is that you can just run it and forget about it. Unless you come across some interruptions in the network, it works like a charm."
"The most valuable feature is the application or promotional code used in the production protocol to transfer data to the secondary database, situated on the DR site."
"If you have a problem with your primary site and can't access your primary database, you can continue working with the database that you have as standby on the other site, by changing its role to primary."
"We have found the replication feature the most useful. We use this feature the most. The ability to recover a database with less effort and the use of Oracle Data Guard Broker to administer the complete environment are also very useful features."
"The solution can scale as needed."
"The most important feature is that if I want to test the database at the disaster recovery site, I can take a snapshot, test it, and then revert it back to the original state without needing to restore the complete database from the primary data center to the disaster recovery."
"The solution is quite stable. We haven't experienced any bugs, glitches, or crashes. We find it to be quite reliable."

Cons

"They still have quite some way to go for improving their agents."
"The downside of Cohesity Data Cloud is that it is not supporting a legacy environment."
"The pricing of the Cloud is on the higher side, and it should be cost-effective enough to compete with native solutions."
"There is limited support for legacy systems, which is something that could be improved."
"The initial setup can be complex, depending on the environment."
"The primary drawback is the need to transfer large amounts of data to the cloud via an internet connection, requiring significant bandwidth."
"The only concern I have with cloud implementation is that if you have a presence on-premises, trying to use the cloud may become a performance challenge."
"Their documentation portal is not up to date for newer releases and I strongly recommend Cohesity to increase their efforts on the documentation portal."
"The database administration needs improvement. With Oracle, we have a lot of features for administrating data, but it might be too many. It needs to be simplified. It should be automated. Looking at Enterprise Manager, there are too many KPIs in place."
"They may need to include the monitoring and the alerting part in Data Guard."
"When the data replicates into the standby database there is a possibility of having a microsecond amount of data loss. The data loss occurs when there is a network disconnection between the primary and secondary standby database located in the data centers or if there is a crash in the primary database."
"We would like to be able to see the date time stamp when you execute DGMGRL commands."
"For Italian medium-sized companies, the main challenge lies in the cost associated with licenses."
"The IP implementation and maintenance are a little bit hard to manage across Oracle solutions, including Oracle Data Guard."
"It is a rather complex solution, so it could be more user-friendly."
"The predominant issue lies in the communication link between the secondary and primary databases."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Regarding pricing, it's very costly and I rate it a four."
"Competing products sometimes use deceptive marketing to make their products seem a lot cheaper. Comparing apples-to-apples, DataPlatform wins out."
"It's priced properly for the market."
"The cost of the Oracle license will depend on the negotiations with Oracle."
"The licensing cost is significantly high."
"If you want to have everything automated and done smoothly, you have to add additional licenses."
"The pricing is on the higher side."
"This is the best solution if you want something similar that's less expensive than Oracle Grid."
"It is not a cheap product, but if you look at the price, features, availability, scalability, and maturity, it is a very good product."
"The cost is expensive."
"It's a cost-effective solution."
