Has enabled efficient big data processing and querying but remains complex to manage and configure
Cloudera Data Platform should use fewer tools and remove the complexity between them. It should make it easier for the end user to change the configuration and understand it better. The UI tool for jobs in Cloudera Data Platform can be improved to provide a proper image of ETL jobs and detailed consolidated graphs to monitor Spark-based Hue jobs.

Regarding points for improvement for Palantir Foundry, I see that they are improving day by day. In the last one to two years, I have seen many improvements compared to the two years that I have worked on Palantir Foundry. There are many things that come up, but a few things are not intuitive enough. Now that we are in this AI phase, Palantir Foundry has created some wrappers around the models, allowing us to create using a no-code application, chatbots, and LLM functions. The problem is that interaction with outside applications can be difficult with the current setup that Palantir Foundry has. There are ways to do that, but it is not that intuitive, which is what I feel.

Pros

"Ambari Web UI: user-friendly."
"Hortonworks is 100% Open Source."
"There’s not only one, the all-stack of Hadoop is valuable, the distributed file system HDFS, Spark, Kafka, HBase, etc. Hortonworks has certainly got the most up-to-date version of each component of Hadoop."
"From a product standpoint, their Ambari UI is incredibly valuable for cluster monitoring."
"Cloudera Data Platform has significantly improved our data management."
"Integration with other tools works well for us and we successfully scaled the solution after two to three years without any issues."
"Cloudera Data Platform proved to be a highly reliable and powerful solution capable of supporting complex enterprise use cases on AWS with strong governance and scalability."
"Cloudera Data Platform is a perfect tool to manage such vast amounts of big data, store it properly, query it, and move it from one end to another."
"It is easy to map out a workflow and run trigger-based scripts without having to deploy to another server."
"The ease of use is my favorite feature. We're able to build different models and projects or combine different projects to build one use case."
"The solution provides an end-to-end integrated tech stack that takes care of all utility/infrastructure topics for you."
"The virtualization tool is useful."
"The AI engine that comes with Palantir Foundry is quite interesting."
"The security is also excellent. It's highly granular, so the admins have a high degree of control, and there are many levels of security. That worked well. You won't have an EDC unless you put everything onto the platform because it is its own isolated thing."
"The data lineage is great."
"Palantir Foundry is a robust platform that has really strong plugin connectors and provides features for real-time integration."

Cons

"It would also be nice if there were less coding involved."
"There have been some governance initiatives, but they are far from production ready."
"I would like to see more support for containers such as Docker and OpenShift."
"Hadoop, does not provide improved performance, compared to traditional RDBMS, unless processing batches in the TB-PB range, or if the Hadoop platform has significantly more resources available."
"Almost every part of the Hadoop ecosystem has its problems and bugs."
"Security- Although they support Knox and Ranger and Kerberos, they are still missing attribute-level encryption features."
"Hive performance. If Hive performance increased, Hadoop would replace (not everywhere) traditional databases."
"Areas for improvement with Cloudera Data Platform could be the initial learning curve that can be a step for teams new to big data economy systems."
"The solution could use more online documentation for new users."
"There is not a wide user base for the solution's online documentation so it is sometimes difficult to find answers."
"The startup pricing is high, causing concern despite being cost-effective in terms of total cost of ownership."
"The solution's visualization and analysis could be improved."
"Compared to other hyperscalers, Palantir Foundry is complex and not so user-intuitive."
"It requires a lot of manual work and is very time-consuming to get to a functional point."
"The solution’s data security could be improved."
"The frontend capabilities of Palantir Foundry could be improved."
