Centralized governance has simplified multi-cloud management and improves compliance monitoring
Cloud8 Platform does not have a lot of improvement areas, but I have a positive experience with it, and one area of improvement would be to provide more customizable dashboards and reporting options so teams can tailor the platform to their specific operational needs. I would also like to see more AI-driven recommendations for cost optimization, security, and compliance, along with deeper integrations with more DevOps and ITSM tools. As an example, I would like to see deeper integrations with tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, GitHub, Azure DevOps, and Slack. It would be useful if Cloud8 Platform could automate ticket creation and remediation workflows when it detects compliance or configuration issues. Additionally, expanding APIs and providing more out-of-the-box automation templates would make it easier to integrate Cloud8 Platform into existing DevOps workflows and reduce manual effort.

The solution reduced our operational expenditures and is able to identify points before we even noticed them
The management interface seems to be designed for high-resolution screens. Somebody with a smaller-resolution screen might not like the web interface. I run a 4K monitor on it, so everything fits on the screen. With a lower resolution like 1080, you need to scroll a lot. Everything is in smaller windows. It doesn't seem to be designed for smaller screens. When I change the resolution to 1080, I only see half of what I would on my big 4K monitor. It would be annoying to have to scroll to see the flow chart. They have a flow chart that goes top to bottom like a tree. On a lower resolution, it might be nice if that scrolls horizontally because it's long, narrow, and tall. It's only three icons wide, but it's 15 icons tall. I think it would be helpful to have the ability to change that for a smaller screen and customize the widget.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cloud8 delivered real savings of 16.5% within 45 days, with zero downtime, and supported an architecture redesign."
"Overall, these features help our team work more efficiently and maintain a reliable cloud environment."
"Customer Service is excellent; I have yet to open a ticket and not have my problem looked at right away, and 99% of the time, the issues were resolved right away."
"You could take the number of hours per tech that no longer has to administer and babysit machines and resources, add the money saved by maximizing the hardware you have to its fullest potential, then add the labor saved in forecasting and the product pays for itself in the first year easily!"
"Within a week of running Turbonomic we were able to see clearly which guest systems needed to be resized and, especially, moved to other nodes within our clusters to obtain the optimal performance."
"The notifications saying, "This is a corrective action," even though some of them can be automated, are always welcome to see. They summarize your entire infrastructure and how you can better utilize it. That is the biggest feature."
"Customer support has been excellent, as I encounter an issue support is responding in a very timely manner and has been very easy to work with to solve the issue."
"It has allowed me to manage over 19 sites with one person after losing two supporting staff members without a negative impact on operations."
"This has saved us a great deal of expenses by better balancing workloads across ESXi hosts."
"It has increased the utilization of our hosts without sacrificing performance."

Cons

"I would like to see integration with Datadog for billing and cost analytics."
"Cloud8 Platform does not have a lot of improvement areas, but I have a positive experience with it, and one area of improvement would be to provide more customizable dashboards and reporting options so teams can tailor the platform to their specific operational needs."
"We are looking forward to the HTML5 interface."
"The automation area could be improved, and the generic reports are poor. We want more details in the analysis report from the application layer. The reports from the infrastructure layer are satisfactory, but Turbonomic won't provide much information if we dig down further than the application layer."
"The flash interface looks dated and is a little cluttered making navigating the portal less than optimal."
"Had 1 issue during a service pack that required me to redeploy and lose all previous history."
"Licensing is easy to understand when you have an existing environment but determining growth or greenfield implementations may be difficult to get the right amount of licensing."
"The interface could be a little cleaner and navigation a little easier."
"Training was a bit disjointed at first, but the second session was improved."
"It does not fully understand our DR/SRM (active/standby) infrastructure as we have hosts with nothing on them."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"What I can advise is to trial the product, taking advantage of the Turbonomic pre-sales implemention support and kickstart training."
"The pricing and licensing are fair. We purchase based on benchmark pricing, which we have been able to get. There are no surprise charges nor hidden fees."
"Everybody tells me the pricing is high. But the ROIs are great."
"I have not seen Turbonomic's new pricing since IBM purchased it. When we were looking at it in my previous company before IBM's purchase, it was compatible with other tools."
"The product is fairly priced right now. Given its capabilities, it is excellently priced. We think that the product will become self-funding because we will be able to maximize our resources, which will help us from a capacity perspective. That should save us money in the long run."
"It is an endpoint type license, which is fine. It is not overly expensive."
"I know there have been some issues with the billing, when the numbers were first proposed, as to how much we would save. There was a huge miscommunication on our part. Turbonomic was led to believe that we could optimize our AWS footprint, because we didn't know we couldn't. So, we were promised savings of $750,000. Then, when we came to implement Turbonomic, the developers in AWS said, "Absolutely not. You're not putting that in our environment. We can't scale down anything because they coded it." Our AWS environment is a legacy environment. It has all these old applications, where all the developers who have made it are no longer with the company. Those applications generate a ton of money for us. So, if one breaks, we are really in trouble and they didn't want to have to deal with an environment that was changing and couldn't be supported. That number went from $750,000 to about $450,000. However, that wasn't Turbonomic's fault."
"Licensing is per socket, so load up on the cores rather than a lot of lower core CPUs."
