We performed a comparison between Citrix Hypervisor, Hyper-V, and KVM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Proxmox, VMware, Microsoft and others in Server Virtualization Software."This solution allows the end users to clone, start, stop, or remotely control their VMs."
"Citrix Hypervisor integrates easily and I can manage the infrastructure better. If I need to take a machine down to expand the hard drive, I do not have to physically be here. I do not need to order new equipment or new hard drives. I can shut it down, increase the drive space and bring it back up."
"The feature I find most valuable, is its performance"
"What I find most valuable in Citrix Hypervisor is its licensing policy, because you'll get it for free if you buy a Citrix XenDesktop license. You don't need to spend additional money on the Citrix Hypervisor because you can manage both the Citrix XenDesktop and the Citrix Hypervisor with just one license, so you can save on cost. I also like that the solution is good support-wise. Hardware support is also faster compared to other solutions."
"Scripting can automate procedures."
"The solution's security is its most valuable aspect."
"The solution is easy to deploy. It's very easy to understand problems and read logs."
"The solution is extremely user friendly."
"It helps us build servers."
"The solution allows us to take advantage of our physical environment."
"The most valuable feature of Hyper-V is that it's very intuitive."
"The installation was straightforward."
"I find that most of the competition is more or less the same. However, Hyper-V is, when you compare it to the older platforms like VMware, a little bit more advanced at this stage."
"The most valuable feature is that it is user-friendly and easy to use."
"It is definitely the toughest competitor for VMware. It easily increases memory for our virtual machines."
"The simplicity and intuitiveness of the platform. It was a very simple adaptation, if you have any experience in virtualization."
"I think nine out of the ten supercomputers in the world use Linux KVM, so I think that attests to the fact that it is a scalable product."
"The product is really good...One can get good performance because of kernel-based virtualization."
"What I like most about KVM is that it's very easy to use. Everything is built-in, even when writing command lines."
"The key aspect is that the KVM directly interacts with the Kronos. There's no clear indication of indirect communication with Kronos. It is not linked to Kronos, and interaction is straightforward without any intermediaries."
"Very cost-effective."
"There is a strong emphasis on availability, and they have numerous API interfaces for distributed storage and the solution is quite known for its openness."
"The KVM service is well managed with a central policy interface."
"I find the density of the product most valuable. It is density that a technologist can just assign page merging. This is what makes KVM one of the important players of the virtualization market."
"It needs to have a more robust backup solution."
"I think the technical support could be better."
"The USB support for the virtual server needs improvement."
"It can be useful to have a web management program because we have to install our client-server. We have to properly manage the host, if we had administration tools through a web interface it would be a benefit."
"Live migration is something that can be improved."
"There are several areas that need improvement including the stability of the networking stack and networking management."
"Overall, I can't think of a feature that is lacking. We've been pretty satisfied overall."
"We'd like them to add more automation to the product."
"There are some storage problems which do occur in high load systems, especially SQL workloads."
"One of the network problems I face is I cannot introduce other security layers on top of Hyper-V as you can in VMware. When it comes to the network the VMware is more flexible than Hyper-V."
"I am using this solution with E-Notes. I heard that there will be future improvements in integration of the E-notes systems. This would be very helpful."
"We would like to have a cloning function added to this product."
"If I want to create a cluster of around five to 10 physical servers Hyper-V does not get integrated with any kind of virtual sense, such as vSense."
"Hyper-V could improve by making it easier to manage."
"In my opinion, it would have been better to truncate the site-to-site replication."
"Hyper-V isn't a lightweight solution like VMware. Management could be more straightforward. Even as far as disk management tools are concerned, it would be better if that could be made simpler. The same applies to performance."
"We still occasionally build Interlaced Wireless Protection within our environment. The ecosystem entails areas, where we support agents, and release backup and security solutions. Collaboration with independent software vendors (ITOLs or ITOLED) is necessary to offer these solutions to customers. However, the scope of the ecosystem in KVM is not as extensive as that of VMware's. In contrast, VMware boasts a robust partner network, allowing for comprehensive customer solutions. On the other hand, KVM’s ecosystem is comparatively limited in comparison. I would like to see FT features in KVM."
"The solution should be more user friendly. We are struggling with the command lines."
"Business continuity features need to be added."
"The solution’s user interface could be improved and made more user-friendly."
"Its resource usage can be improved."
"The networking with wireless devices needs improvement."
"The stability of this solution is less than other products in the same category."
"One problem I have is that it's not very scalable when it comes to resizing the VM disk dimensions. For example, if you have initially set a virtual drive to 10 GB and you want to upgrade it to 15 GB, it's not that easy."
