Enhanced Internal Security and Efficiency
Check Point Security Management can be improved by addressing a negative challenge I face: sometimes it does not show internet utilization in the GUI. When I ask support, they tell me to upgrade the firmware, which happens quite frequently. Since I deployed the device in my on-premises environment 1.5 years ago, I have experienced this issue three times. Check Point Security Management has not impacted my daily work or decision-making in any negative way. As an IT person, I occasionally need to check how much internet bandwidth has been used in the internal network over the past month, day, or week. During those times, when I open the data utilization column, it shows nothing available. Each time this happens, I need to upgrade to the latest version of the firmware, and this frequent updating affects my productivity negatively. If Check Point addresses this issue in the future, it will be beneficial for all customers using Check Point SMBs.

Good discovery and vulnerability features and is easy to use
I think it's a good product for risk-based or exposure-based vulnerability management. It gives me the ability to identify potential weaknesses in my environment quickly. Once those vulnerabilities get identified on the console, it is only a matter of performing those actions. I would rate it nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The interface also makes it easy for us to configure the VPN from the GUI rather than the command line, which makes it easy even for less experienced engineers to work with."
"Check Point Security Management has positively impacted my organization by providing centralized control, allowing us to manage all security policies and gateways from a single console, reducing complexity and saving time, and by enabling faster policy updates, which allowed quicker roll-out of rule changes across multiple sites, improving agility and reducing configuration errors."
"The features we like and find the most valuable are the ways we can manage the policy, create objects, and drag and drop objects in our daily operation. It makes our daily operation on the firewall management much easier than going, for example, to one firewall, then going to the other."
"We love the ability to monitor performance in real-time, and gather critical information about network flows and traffic."
"With the generation and review of logs, we have verified some vulnerabilities and attempted attacks to generate improvements in our infrastructure and policies to help avoid issues in the future."
"Mobile access has helped us cater to more than 4000 users so that they can work from home."
"The additional features offered by the solution are excellent. We didn't have a lot fo these on a previous solution, and they've proven to be an advantage for us."
"The fact that everything starts from the same unified management console makes it very easy to integrate new equipment or functionalities once the operator has become familiar with it, as everything will follow similar management or operation mechanisms."
"I think it's a good product for risk-based or exposure-based vulnerability management."
"The feature of vulnerability management and discovery is what I use."
"The solution is very easy to set up."
"For me, the setup has been an easy process."
"The product gives us a lot of insight."

Cons

"You need some technical expertise to use the solution. I don't think it's accessible to the typical end-user. You need to access the box and use some command lines or the web interface. It would be nice to have a user-friendly dashboard and comprehensive reporting."
"In the last version from 80.20, there are some issues around SSNA Diction. I would like this to be improved."
"I and my colleagues occasionally report glitches or missing data views with the GUI stability and performance issues, and sometimes SmartConsole crashes."
"The tracking of new threats could be improved."
"In my experience, the place they can improve the most is in the technical support where I have had some serious problems that could not be solved in time due to a lack of knowledge of the assigned engineer."
"We would like to improve the upgrade process in order to do mass upgrades to firewalls and to be able to upgrade target firewalls at the same time."
"I would like for users to have more control over the platform in the next release. Right now, the system is very central and general requiring new rules to be created that better-suite our requirements."
"The graphical interface is nice but it is a bit heavy."
"It would be nice if the product provided an agent for enforcing policies."
"The sensor update is a challenge that Tenable needs to address."
"Tenable needs to provide a better way to manage private clouds."
"The sensor update is a challenge that Tenable needs to address. Sometimes they behave abruptly, requiring me to rework reinstalling the sensors on the endpoints."
"The product has limited reporting capabilities and it isn't great at allowing for customization in reports."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing can be estimated around 3 or 4 out of 10 in terms of expense."
"The solution is expensive."
"The solution is expensive and there is an annual license."
"Do the homework because Check Point is rather expensive."
"Price-wise, it is an expensive solution."
"If one will be very expensive, and ten means low price, I rate the tool's price as a three out of ten."
"This product can be used for 25 security gateways on a basic license."
"Check Point is much cheaper than the competition ($4/server as compared to $17/server)."
"The pricing is fair."
