Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The Centerity gives us exactly what we need from performance system monitoring."
"The machine learning feature is valuable."
"Centerity is much more than a monitoring tool — it’s a unified, end-to-end, enterprise-class and multi-tenanted AIOps Platform that is purpose-built to help MSPs and data-centers deliver the highest levels of up-time and performance."
"The dashboards are very well-defined."
"The most valuable feature is the flow map."
"The event alerting feature or the trigger system is what I like most about AppDynamics Server Monitoring. Whenever an issue occurs, the tool automatically generates an even trigger that tells engineers in the company to take action, so it's an essential feature of AppDynamics Server Monitoring. Another valuable feature of the tool is end-to-end monitoring, which means if you need to debug, you can go transaction by transaction, where the issue lies, and how it's linked. For example, if it's a low-performance issue, you can look into it more through AppDynamics Server Monitoring in terms of which area takes too much time to execute. You can also see the SQL queries and the kind of query going on through the tool."
"You have a live view of what happens when something goes wrong on the production or support side. You don't have to scramble and do guesswork. We can identify the query that creates the bottleneck or slows the performance of the database system. It can give you points on how to debug and fix the system."
"We already have examples of an 89% reduction in MTTR for one application and a multitude of examples of money saved in others, including savings of around $150,000 for one particular issue that we were almost set to throw more hardware and software at."
"When it comes to end-user monitoring (where you want to capture or trend back business transactions, or where you want to really view the performance of the tools), it's not just good in terms of managing your production system, but some of the developers use it to tackle performance issues and get ahead."
"The flow map is very valuable to us. Before we installed APM, we had no idea how our application looked."
"We switched to AppDynamics for its capabilities."

Cons

"One of the major improvements should be it implementation as a SaaS"
"They can improve the functionality that provides some numbers related to the behavior of the metrics."
"The GUI must be improved. Graphs must be changed including high level maps"
"Full-stack network monitoring in terms of switches (third-party tool integration should be enabled) should be able to monitor jitter, retransmission, retransmission timeouts, delays, window size, or other network issues."
"Technical support is slow. Basically, we mail, we wait, we mail."
"The overall performance of this solution could be improved. The hot-hot infrastructure features could also be improved."
"A few things genuinely frustrate me about Splunk AppDynamics. First, the UI, while powerful, is dense and not modern compared to products like DataDog or New Relic, requiring a learning curve for new team members."
"It's a highly automated solution but still requires a few manual tweaks."
"One of the key features that are missing is the ability to manage users centrally, which is a real pain when it does not happen."
"Things mostly work well. I would think maybe more integration; pull things together more; integrate this analytics with this dashboard, with that analytics; and so on."
"The biggest complaint that we have at this point is the ability to exclude certain time frames from the dynamic baselining."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The license for AppDynamics is procured by our customers."
"AppDynamics Browser Real-User Monitoring does have licensing cost associated with it."
"It's a very expensive product. Each of the licenses after this month for one server is around $9,000 or $10,000."
"AppDynamics does not usually do monthly payments. They do it on an annual basis, at the very least."
"Pricing is based on the size of the deployment."
"It is a more expensive APM among the competitors, which is fine because it also does a lot more on the auto-detection and the AI side... It is not a cheap product. None of them are. The price is fair, but I could use it on more projects if they had a lower price."
"The tool is expensive."
"AppDynamics Database Monitoring requires a license for database monitoring and other features, while Dynatrace provides monitoring and other features out of the box without additional costs. Sometimes this makes it more challenging to pitch AppDynamics Database Monitoring to customers, especially because you need to buy a separate license. As an implementer, I have yet to learn about the pricing for AppDynamics Database Monitoring. Pricing is taken care of by the sales team."
