Continuous monitoring and predictive analytics help provide insights into utilization
Continuous monitoring helps me detect anomalies in the pipeline, preplan resource scalability, and assist with cost management by offering good visibility into resource utilization. It also offers predictive analytics and some existing features, including dashboards. The AI prediction feature helps forecast based on current utilization trends and suggests improvements like the GenAI feature for interactive inquiries.

Used for compliance and tagging with cost optimization but have complex workflow
We wanted it for compliance and tagging purposes. They could not satisfy our needs because we were looking for something in a graphical form, like pie charts, and for untagged tech. We were applying various filters that they did not support. It is good for cost optimization but ineffective for tagging compliance and budget allocation. I rate cost optimization as three-point five out of five. I give budget allocation a two out of five. Tagging Compliance is the main reason we decided not to go with it. I would rate it two out of five. The tool charges one percent of cloud users, which is too much based on the capabilities they are providing.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Billing management is self-explanatory. There isn't a specific feature that stands out, but it's a fundamental aspect that needs to be present."
"It is a fully scalable product with the potential to enhance our application and increase our servers. All cloud-based solutions are fully scalable."
"The cost analysis and exportability are the most valuable features of the solution."
"Microsoft Azure Cloud Cost Management is easy to use and we have a lot of insights about all of our goals."
"The solution helps us diagnose and understand why some resources cost more so that we can fine-tune and reduce the cost."
"The features that I have found most valuable, are the trend analysis and the budgetary trigger."
"What I like the most about Azure Cost Management is that it's similar to a native service, and it has very well-defined product features, particularly if a customer is moving to Azure, then it gives proper insight in terms of compatibility and what benefits a customer can get from the solution."
"The most valuable feature is that it helps us to better forecast and reduce costs."
"The best part of CloudZero is the UI for creating dashboards."

Cons

"There are significant issues with Power BI integration at the moment, particularly with built-in applications for course management. Multiple features don't allow for efficient report generation. This is one primary concern. The second issue relates to reporting, even when using Power BI templates for course management. There are problems with data import that require manual entry. So, these are the two main challenges I'm currently facing. Another matter to consider is the removal of the markup option for partners. I'm not sure if it will be added back, but it used to allow marking up Azure usage for enterprise customers. I'm uncertain if there's an alternative way to achieve the same function. Partners need to mark up services when selling to customers, and it's currently unavailable for some products or services."
"The affordability of licenses and subscription fees is a critical consideration, as not all companies can easily manage the cost of expensive licenses."
"The product's licensing cost could be improved."
"The solution's technical support should be faster, more knowledgeable, and customer-friendly."
"It would be beneficial if Azure Cost Management could automatically generate budget rules using AI insights, eliminating the need for manual configuration."
"There are certainly areas for improvement in terms of labeling the inventory. That's because right now, we use a number of services. But it's difficult when you look at the billing limiters and how they are named. We can't correlate those names to the actual services there. So, I can't click on an item and see if I'm still using this service or not. So it just rolls up and gives me values and figures, but I can't really correlate them to actual services on the Azure platform."
"The tool's pricing should be made cheaper."
"The solution could use automatic emailing. That would help improve the product a lot, at least for our purposes."
"I would not recommend it to small setups."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Customers do not need to pay for the product's license, and the product is free of cost."
"Azure Cost Management is a free cost management tool."
"Pricing isn't applicable as it's included with the subscription. It depends on the services used. If you acquire any services on Azure, you pay for the subscription, and the billing or cost management is included for free."
"It's free out of the box."
"I think the solution was free initially."
"I rate the price of Azure Cost Management an eight out of ten."
"Compared to competitors, it's cost-effective. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with ten being expensive."
"The solution is free. It's part of having an Azure subscription."
