Transparency in cost estimation and budget maintenance is enhanced
At the beginning of the project, I estimate the cost and try to be transparent with the customer, letting them know the expected cost with a tolerance of plus or minus ten percent. If the requirement is clear, I estimate it for fifty to one hundred percent depending on their requirements. Any…

Centralized multi-cloud cost insights have driven smarter reporting and proactive anomaly control
In terms of improvements for CloudZero, I felt there could be potential improvements in their budget section. I have used other tools before where the budget feature is a little easier to use in terms of the UI. I also found updating their business mappings quite difficult. When I first started using the tool, one of the first things demonstrated was a YAML config file that was thousands of lines long, which had to be updated and pushed for changes to occur within CloudZero. I would like a feature where you could update elements directly through the UI, as I understand they plan to bring that into the tool at a future date, since using that long YAML file can be very difficult and lead to errors. Although CloudZero's reporting feature is very good, I feel I have used tools that have more feature-rich qualities for their reporting features than CloudZero, which could be something valuable considering their reporting feature is also popular.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like the granularity of the tools."
"The features that I have found most valuable, are the trend analysis and the budgetary trigger."
"The product has helped save costs for the company."
"I recommend it because it helps forecast and maintain the expected budget, setting clear expectations for the customer which is very important."
"Continuous monitoring helps me detect anomalies in the pipeline, preplan resource scalability, and assist with cost management by offering good visibility into resource utilization."
"Gives visibility into the cost of cloud-based solutions."
"The most valuable aspect of Azure Cost Management for me is the cost-saving recommendations based on our usage patterns."
"Our customers use it and like it."
"CloudZero is a great tool; I have definitely enjoyed using it and have seen business benefits from it, so I am very happy with the tool."
"CloudZero's best feature is the dashboarding capabilities."
"The best part of CloudZero is the UI for creating dashboards."

Cons

"It would be beneficial if Azure Cost Management could automatically generate budget rules using AI insights, eliminating the need for manual configuration."
"I would like to see some features included for costing and more information about the components of deployment. Sometimes, it's very difficult to match the component with the solution because the descriptions are not very clear."
"The solution could use automatic emailing. That would help improve the product a lot, at least for our purposes."
"It would be nice if they could introduce connections to other clouds. It would be good to connect to AWS and Oracle cloud."
"The response time of customer support can be improved."
"The technical support could be improved."
"Azure Cost Management should be made cheaper."
"There are certainly areas for improvement in terms of labeling the inventory. That's because right now, we use a number of services. But it's difficult when you look at the billing limiters and how they are named. We can't correlate those names to the actual services there. So, I can't click on an item and see if I'm still using this service or not. So it just rolls up and gives me values and figures, but I can't really correlate them to actual services on the Azure platform."
"In terms of improvements for CloudZero, I felt there could be potential improvements in their budget section."
"I chose a rating of seven because I'm looking for CloudZero to focus more on the optimization side and Kubernetes clustering."
"I would not recommend it to small setups."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The subscription fees are primarily tailored to larger enterprises, potentially leaving smaller and medium-sized customers with limited options."
"The tool's licensing costs are monthly."
"The tool's pricing is yearly."
"I think the solution was free initially."
"Azure Cost Management is a free cost management tool."
"Compared to competitors, it's cost-effective. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with ten being expensive."
"The product is not cheap, but it is not expensive either."
"I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten - the price could be lower."
