Automatic installation for complex deployments and environments, with good workflow support
I like that really complex deployments are possible with it. It's very good. You have everything you need. You can design your workflows for your needs. You can do so much more, it's not just an automatic installation tool. It's a real deployment tool. I can do the complete deployment with everything that is possible.

Real-time monitoring and seamless integration enhance deployment efficiency
The main disadvantage I see is the limited awareness of Nolio Release Automation in other organizations. It is a very nice tool, but its market presence is limited. I heard from the organization that the licensing cost was somewhat expensive. Perhaps focusing on marketing efforts would be beneficial. It is a really nice tool, and I am unsure why many organizations are not using Nolio Release Automation. It is one of the greatest tools for continuous deployment, yet its popularity remains limited. Some organizations are not aware of its existence. This might be an area worth researching and potentially developing new marketing strategies.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The measurement and the display functions make it easy to report all the statuses up to management, and it has helped our customers with their time, costs, and resources."
"The capability to provide visibility to the stakeholders, to management, is the biggest piece that showcases what the solution is about."
"I think on a day-to-day basis, it has increased the capacity to deploy. We don't have to wait for someone to do something."
"The metrics gathered after deployment, for example, the rate of success versus the rate of failure."
"I think on a day-to-day basis, it has increased the capacity to deploy."
"Gives people insight into what's happening during the deployment."
"The main benefit is you can deploy everything with it."
"In first pilot run, we achieved five times faster deployment without human work."
"For my organization, in particular, it’s going to improve our throughput; we're not going to have delays in testing because we had some sort of manual entry error or transposition error, and we should be able to release our software to the customer in a much more efficient fashion."
"It is a very good product and can help the organizations in the long run, which will lead to higher customer satisfaction."
"CA Release Automation gave us the flexibility to deploy multiple components in multiple environments."
"The release time has gone down from a number of days to a few minutes."
"The UI makes it easier for non-engineers to understand."
"Improve my team activity in 75%."
"The frictionless end-to-end, automated deployments remove manual handovers between different parties, making it fault-tolerant without human errors, technology-agnostic, and consolidated on one tool instead of multiple solutions with manual implementations."
"The release deployment pipeline in CA RA is the most valuable feature of them all, as it shows the environment and the release version currently deployed for each application."

Cons

"key thing is support for cloud-based deployment. That is lacking."
"There needs to be better error handling and error descriptions. It should be more clear what the errors are and what we can do to fix them."
"If you have a technical problem and need development of the tool, the support team is terrible, because they cannot help with the technical details."
"The first time setup can be very complicated."
"File transfer is not very efficient. It takes a bit longer than some other methods and when you send the file from one platform to another, especially from the mainframe, the results consumption is quite high compared to other methods."
"The dashboard should allow you to see the current state of packages in each environment, not only on an individual application basis, but across the entire application platform."
"GUI for mobile phones: Availability to approve and start deployment through mobile phones."
"If you have a technical problem and need development of the tool, the support team is terrible, because they cannot help with the technical details."
"Initial setup cost is more expensive, but the day-to-day cost is only for maintenance, design and for people development."
"The UI and the design can sometimes be a little flaky, and that is a little frustrating at different points, but overall, it's definitely a solution, if you're looking for an enterprise product to do your releases for multiple types of deployments."
"What I personally want to see is more features for data warehousing deployment."
"We did have stability issues. The tool slows down often."
"The challenge that we've got within our company at the moment is that we're in the process of trying to roll out a cloud. It's trying to understand how Release Automation fits with that because I think it's getting very on-premise focused until now."
"It is possible to have a lot of execution servers, but you can’t put them in a balanced pool of servers."
"We use two versions – the older version (4.4) is very unstable, while the newer one (5.5) is much better."
"When I started using Nolio around eight months ago, a challenge was the lack of relevant information and related support for learning."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I can save time and money more quickly."
"If you have a fixed contract, it has limits to spreading out. If you have a flexible enterprise license contract, then you have a lot of scalability for this tool."
"We increased our quality and reduced our time costs."
"Customers often complain about the price."
"Nolio is a pretty much good tool, though its pricing is relatively high in the market. It's more expensive than other tools."
