Reliable traffic management with good cost reduction and a straightforward setup
In terms of the system, I love the functionality of a NAT Gateway. For instance, when I was using it, it was easy to refuse certain traffic from penetrating into my other availability zone. I had to use a NAT Gateway to transition traffic only to the desired portal. Due to using Amazon VPC, it was reliable, efficient in operations, and cost-effective. For scalability, it was beneficial when one instance was down in an availability zone, as we had a standby instance. This ensured that when an availability zone in South Africa went down, another one in the US was available. We used methods like backup, restore, and pilot standby to recover data, and AWS Trusted Advisor guided us on cost optimization. We achieved an average of 70% cost reduction through savings plans for reserved instances and Spot Instances for short-term development servers.

Used to manage Kubernetes infrastructure, but it doesn't have support from OCI
Spot Ocean is deployed on the cloud in our organization. I would recommend the solution to other users. You need to have an experience with Kubernetes, or else this product is of no use. It is not difficult to learn to use Spot Ocean. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The documentation is very clear."
"You can get a direct link to AWS to your data even if you are a large organization with a huge data center."
"Compared to that of on-premises solutions, the performance of Amazon Virtual Private Cloud is much better."
"The product’s most valuable feature is allowing us to control access for specific workloads or traffic within a particular region."
"One important tool we use is Transit Gateway, which helps connect different parts of our network. We also use Internet Gateways, NAT Gateways, and Route Tables to ensure our applications run smoothly on AWS. While most people use these basics, some specialized tools, like Transit Gateway, are useful for specific needs."
"The main feature I like about Amazon VPC is its security capabilities, including security groups and subnets."
"The product’s firewall is very good."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"The solution helps us to manage and scale automatically whenever there is a limit to the increase in the application workflow."
"The solution offers both block access and file access, making it a nice solution for customers."

Cons

"From an improvement perspective, the product's initial setup phase should be easy for those who are not experienced in creating VPCs."
"When we create instances without public IP, the paid services provided by the solution, NAT gateway, are costly."
"In Amazon VPC, there's room for improvement. For example, when we create security groups, I think we should be able to restrict outgoing traffic to secured websites. I know there's a method to restrict that, but we should also be able to design outgoing traffic restrictions at the system level. We should use that to deny ports instead of relying solely on network access controls at the subnet level."
"If something needs to be highlighted, peering must be maintained."
"The tool is not scalable."
"There is always room for improvement. It can be in support."
"They could improve the platform's ability to establish VPN connections to interact with resources outside the network."
"This solution is not fully compatible with every vendor that we use regarding firewalls and networking equipment. They provide you with the option and details on how to configure this on your premises but it would be good to have an easier way to do this."
"There are no particular areas for improvement I can identify."
"The solution doesn't have support from OCI, and it should start working to onboard OCI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We can use the tool for free."
"The solution is pricey but worth its money."
"The solution's pricing is on the higher side so is rated a five out of ten."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
"Amazon VPC is generally affordable. There might be costs if you need to reserve specific IPs. Otherwise, it's cheap."
"Compared to the other products in the market, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud is available at a low price."
"The solution is not very expensive."
"VPC itself is free to create and use."
