Shared storage capabilities provide enterprise value with good reliability
Amazon FSx is more costly compared to other storage solutions like EBS or EFS. The auto-scaling feature should be improved, as it currently includes downtime. I need to manually increase the storage, which is not ideal. Integrating FSx with Windows Server is challenging; it's a long process involving Active Directory (AD) setup and synchronization.

Cloud storage has optimized my tiered costs and supports seamless sharing and collaboration
Currently, I think it is okay and easy to use for an individual and to share with another person, so there is no room for improvement for Google Cloud Storage at this time.In the future, I would like to see additional features in Google Cloud Storage such as integrating Gemini to function as a chat for finding information, or OCR, or reading the content in my files for searching purposes.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The shared storage capability is highly valuable."
"On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Amazon FSx a ten."
"We used it for disaster recovery perspective behind a number of resources, like batch services and RDS."
"I rate the stability of Amazon FSx ten out of ten."
"FSx operates as an independent service, not tied to any server, which eliminates dependencies between applications for storage."
"The responses from the technical team are fast...It is a stable product...We do have plans to increase the number of users since it is a scalable product."
"The most valuable feature is that it frees up space in your device by allowing you to store your files on the cloud and provides 15GB storage for free."
"GCS has cut on both development and delivery times of workloads for projects that use mission-critical Google APIs, and the time savings is measurable in months."
"Everything I store in the solution is available on all of my devices."
"The most valuable features of Google Cloud Storage are the ease of use and I can share files with my colleagues."
"The solution's customer service and support are helpful since they are responsive...Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten."
"Google Cloud Storage's most valuable feature is the native algorithms are available. Some of the algorithms are not available for the use cases that we had in Microsoft Azure. We didn't find any native algorithms and that's the reason why we decided to use the machine learning algorithms in GCP."
"On the phone, I appreciate how seamless it is."

Cons

"From my experience, there are areas in Amazon FSx where more performance is needed, as they will be looking for higher IOPS."
"I've been facing a challenge when doing a failover from FSx side. AWS console does not refresh within a half hour."
"Amazon FSx is more costly compared to other storage solutions like EBS or EFS."
"A direct FTP feature would be beneficial instead of relying on transmission services."
"The solution must provide some accessibility features."
"Its security should be better from the data security point of view. It should be more secure, and it should get tightly integrated with products such as Google Docs and Google Sheets. Microsoft covers different kinds of tools such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel."
"The main area for improvement would be providing a local setup or working area. Currently, developers need to commit code to test changes. A lower-cost option for this would be beneficial."
"Google Cloud Storage is stable, although, on two occasions, all of the privileges were lost on one or more of our folders."
"I would like to see this solution made faster, cheaper, and bigger."
"I want the product to be available at a cheaper cost."
"Google Cloud Storage could improve the integrations in a way Microsoft Azure is going about it. For Data Lake integrations, Microsoft Azure has a bunch of native pipelines available. All Google needs to do is add the same set or maybe even improve on the sets that they have. All the analytics, including the Data Lake, would then be able to sit in Google Cloud Storage."
"The price of Azure products is high. In my opinion, the prices of Google solutions should be lowered for businesses."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The lowest price I have paid is $370 or $380 per month, while the highest can exceed $3,000 per month."
"There are no licensing fees."
"Approximately 800 to 1,000 USD is paid towards the licensing costs of the solution. The solution is neither expensive nor cheap, meaning it is moderately priced. There are no extra costs apart from the licensing costs of the solution."
"I use the free version and have never paid for any extra storage. I have been able to manage in whatever free spaces are given."
"If you want a shared file system, you have to buy a server with the minimum capacity of one TB."
"I am paying a yearly subscription fee."
"The price of the license could be cheaper. We are on an annual subscription."
"I pay a yearly subscription fee."
"My company is paying a yearly subscription for the licensing of the solution. It is an expensive solution."
