What is our primary use case?
My main use case for CastorDoc is to point out all the data points that we collect. Usually, these are product events. The entire product events catalog is in CastorDoc, so technical or non-technical people can go and check what is occurring there.
A quick specific example of how someone in my organization might use CastorDoc for this is when there is an application that you do not know and another team is working on it. A person can go to CastorDoc and see what kind of data we collect from this application. They can analyze and say, "This parameter and this metric for this product are that."
What is most valuable?
CastorDoc offers deep links as one of its best features, so we can create many deep links, and when you click on one, it directly jumps to the documentation of that specific product or specific table.
Another valuable feature is that CastorDoc has tabs, so you can also have custom documentation where you can explain more about the business logic. Those tabs and custom documentation help my team in day-to-day work because we added our own business logic there. We can share more information on how a metric is calculated, what is included, what is excluded, which customers are the targets, and so on.
CastorDoc has positively impacted my organization by eliminating knowledge silos, back and forth communication, and having to ask questions to different team members. You can simply go to CastorDoc, see what has been collected, how it is calculated, and use that information.
What needs improvement?
I think having AI tooling on top of CastorDoc can be helpful. I do not want to search through multiple tabs or multiple products. I would prefer to ask an AI tool to search for what I am looking for. This feature may have been implemented after I started using CastorDoc.
I chose a rating of eight because CastorDoc is a solid product. However, it does not suggest how you should make your data governance better. In a big technology organization, things get messy. CastorDoc could say, "You could have this template between these two products."

Before CastorDoc, we were using Notion and Jira to have data governance. It was messy and always forgotten to update.

What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using CastorDoc is that if you have a big company and data is important to you, and if you are in Europe, you should have CastorDoc so you can be organized. I rate CastorDoc an eight out of ten.
