My advice to others is they should try the solution. I have experienced other solutions, such as Fortinet and I feel much better using this solution overall. I rate Sangfor NGAF a nine out of ten.

I rate this product an eight out of ten because we don't know what we may need from this solution in the future. We are satisfied and hope to upgrade to a new version soon. However, right now, our current version is working fine. In terms of advice, we would recommend Sangfor NGAF. But, a company should first prepare an analysis, compare different products, and then decide what they want.

We have six people managing IT operations. We have not had any issues in the first six months of using this solution. If you want to deploy a firewall in your infrastructure, Fortinet, Sangfor and Sophos are the best solutions to protect traffic. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

This product is very user-friendly, and its Layer 7 security is very much improved. It can be customized to a very deep level. I would give this solution a score of eight out of ten.

I would recommend this solution to others. I have clients that are switching from Fortinet to Sangfor NGAF because the price of Fortinet's service is increasing. Sangfor NGAF has good integration with their endpoints which makes it a very attractive offering. Sangfor is arranging much-needed training for resellers. There needs to be better marketing awareness not for the reseller, but for the consumer here in Malaysia. Sangfor needs to do some advertisements to attract more market awareness. Relying on resellers can be difficult when the market is very large. However, resellers do focus on their product, they also try to engage, and hire more. I rate Sangfor NGAF an eight out of ten.

We are Sangfor Gold partners. I'd recommend this solution for the SMB market, as it is cost-effective and reliable. If a company is enterprise-sized, something like Sophos may be more suitable. I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten.

My advice is that if you have a large enough budget then implement Palo Alto. Alternatively, with a lesser budget, I recommend using Sangfor. I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

It's important to note that the performance of the solution depends on the initial pre-working and sizing. The sizing is handled by the company and they know their product, so they normally size it very well. They also put in provision for future growth so there's never an issue of performance. There's no such thing as 100% so I would rate this solution a nine out of 10.

I would recommend this solution. I'd rate it an eight out of ten. Not a ten because it's not so user-friendly and needs better integration.

Sangfor NGAF is a good product. People should try it, especially those who are not using the software. These firewalls are great and everything is becoming properly defined, even the network, the computer, the firewalls, storage, and everything is just waiting to be properly defined. It's a unique combination and people should try it. In the future, I would like to see it being controlled by an automatic, virtual orchestrator to control the firewall and all the data. One a scale of one to ten, I rate this solution a nine.

Hi community,  Is it required in your company to conduct a security review before purchasing a firewall? Also, do you need to perform reviews after (how often)? What are the common materials you use in the review? Do you have any tips or advice?  Any pitfalls to watch out for?

Yes, I recommend doing a security review regularly. Not necessarily before a firewall purchase unless you have not done one lately. Having the results of the review will help you understand what capabilities you need in a firewall. As an example, if you get a ton of login attempts from outside your country of origin but have no customers or partners outside the country you will want to have "country blocking" capabilities. There are a number of tools that can be used for evaluations. We currently use RMM and Security tools from SolarWinds. We have other tools as well. To perform a security review you have to have tools do the work. It simply is not possible for an individual to perform a thorough check without significant automation. We offer this as a service as well. Pro's: SolarWinds has a free version of some of the useful tools such as SIEM Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) Tool. You can rent some tools by going though a partner (such as us BayStateTechnology.com) Con's: Tools to purchase are a bit expensive. Performance checks that RMM uses is not accurate on large busy machines. Support leaves much to be desired.

The only question for a review would be based on your requirements. For example, does the firewall meet Common Criteria standards or other security controls. Generally, we suggest pursuing a NGFW and our initial recommendation is Fortinet. Good news is the NSS results put Fortinet as the #1.
