Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's most compatible with VMware. It can restore single files instead of having to restore the whole machine, once again leading to savings for the company.""The initial setup and deployment are easy. It's straightforward.""It is scalable.""Veeam has a "next, next, finish" installer, and the overall deployment is straightforward. The deployment is easy because Veeam is compatible with all our VMware services and VMs. Veeam Backup and Veeam ONE are integrated into vCenter or vSphere site deployments, so we don't need to deploy each server one by one.""The only thing I really like about it is that you can deploy it from Backup and Replication onto a virtual Linux machine.""The most valuable feature is the ability to pick up individual files.""The ease of use for the graphical interface and the ease of installation are the most valuable features of this solution.""I like the incremental backups and their failover."

"We find the pricing is reasonable.""They are a large company with good best practices, and they give good support.""The most valuable feature involves VMware Instant Recovery, which allows one to do restoration within seconds.""The solution is useful for backups.""Compared to a homemade installation, this appliance is very stable.""The most valuable feature of Veritas NetBackup Appliance is duplication and covers many applications.""The most valuable feature of this solution is that it can be used in many different kinds of systems.""The most valuable feature is that the backup and restoring process is very fast."

Cons
"I would like to be able to install Veeam directly to Linux instead of having to go through a Windows server.""Scalability, if you are talking about Linux, is good. However, if you need to backup more types of solutions or Unix systems, like HP/UX, AIX, etc., it's not compatible.""There isn't much to improve. They just need to follow the trend or the development of other Linux products. Follow in terms of making the product compatible with new versions of Linux. They just need to include as many versions for Linux as possible.""They could be more customer-friendly.""We are currently waiting for the continuous backup process.""It would be much better if more applications were supported on the Linux side. For example, their agent for Windows not only can back up the Windows machine, but it can also back up Active Directory for granular restore, SQL servers, Exchange, Oracle, SharePoint, etc. When it comes to Linux, only Oracle databases are supported. There are workarounds, though.""It's scalable, but it's not scalable on every platform.""The integration needs improvement."

More Veeam Agent for Linux [EOL] Cons →

"The scalability isn't great. Every time you want to add storage, you can't just add a little bit, you need to add a lot.""The only drawback for NetBackup, and of course for Veritas, is that they have stuck to the same environment and to the same UI - User Interface. This needs to be improved in future releases. It needs to be more dynamic.""NetBackup Appliance's pricing is reasonable, but it could be lower.""It would be a better solution if we were able to make more reports in regards to the backup system.""The reporting feature can be improved.""In terms of implementing the solution, it's quite technical. You need to be knowledgable in order to pull off a successful deployment.""We had some problems with the backup of the physical server.""This solution has to have better integration with the cloud, as well as with other solutions such as Business Intelligence products."
