Used to manage Kubernetes infrastructure, but it doesn't have support from OCI
Spot Ocean is deployed on the cloud in our organization. I would recommend the solution to other users. You need to have an experience with Kubernetes, or else this product is of no use. It is not difficult to learn to use Spot Ocean. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Streamlines virtualization and has features like high availability and vMotion
The primary use case is for virtualization, including the implementation of vSphere, vCloud Foundation, vCloud Director, and cloud automation with vSphere My customers, particularly SMBs, mainly utilize High Availability (HA), DRS, and vMotion features. The vMotion feature is beneficial for…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution offers both block access and file access, making it a nice solution for customers."
"The solution helps us to manage and scale automatically whenever there is a limit to the increase in the application workflow."
"The most valuable features are that it's stable, easy to use, and it's flexible."
"VMware Tanzu (container) is the most valuable addition because you get an efficient solution to manage the VM and container in a single pane of glass."
"Most valuable features are quick provisioning, High Availability, and DRS for balancing workload."
"The UI is very intuitive, you don't have to spend hours before you figure it out. All in all, compared to other environments, like Hyper-V, we find vSphere a lot more user-friendly and intuitive to use."
"It's easy to use, and it is flexible."
"It is a powerful solution that enables us to take a snapshot and clone any version of machine."
"Security-Features; vSphere does offer quite a bit of security stuff built-in. It is nice to know that we can have the virtual machines encrypted, so that if somebody were to get a hold of any of those files, we don't have to worry about them actually being used. Since we do have so many different departments and areas with a lot of people that need access into the solution, we can use the role-based access controls to really restrict and control who can do what, so everybody can do what they need to do, but they can't do anything else past that."
"The most valuable features are the vMotion, the storage vMotion, the DRS, and the high availability function."

Cons

"The solution doesn't have support from OCI, and it should start working to onboard OCI."
"There are no particular areas for improvement I can identify."
"It would be nice to see it a little more tightly integrated with the patching solution so you could do it in one pane of glass. Right now, you have to jump back and forth. It's still not difficult, but you have to jump back and forth to do your update definitions and then go back and actually do the updates themselves."
"The reporting could be improved."
"The solution could be more stable."
"Reducing the cost of vSphere would be an improvement."
"There are some limitations with the solution regarding migrating."
"The installation can take a long time, they need to improve on the simplicity and length of the installation."
"The initial setup is quite complex."
"I would like to see a little bit more visibility regarding errors. When an error does occur, there are times where it says "Unknown error" or something to that effect, and it doesn't necessarily give you a lot of metrics. If you go online and you give a description of it, normally the VMware forums can help you find out what it is, but I'd like to see a little bit more visibility from the software itself regarding what's going on: "This went wrong, this is why.""

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I currently use the yearly licensing option, and I think that the pricing is fine for this solution."
"There is an annual cost for the use of this solution. The price is a little high in developing countries. If they were able to reduce the price they would receive more customers now and even more in the future."
"It's a monthly subscription model."
"The price of the solution could be cheaper compared to others."
"You get what you pay for."
"Pricing needs to be competitive since Microsoft Hyper-V has come a long way; they are both around the same price range."
"The license growth of vSphere depends on the growth of the visual environment and the addition of more hosts."
"Our customers typically use permanent licenses, not subscription-based. However, there are subscript-based licenses."
