Extensive tool features support database monitoring, but support and pricing present challenges
I don't fully understand what improvements could be made in Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. To make it better, more features could be added, but it is already a very complete tool, especially if you know how to configure it properly, as you can use it to monitor other databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server in addition to Oracle.

Everything can be visibly managed, scheduling and state management features are pretty good
We've integrated it with source control management tools like GitLab and Bitbucket. The scheduling and state management features are pretty good using Spacelift. It integrates with tools like Terraform and Kubernetes for policies, but we haven't worked on the compliance part. Spacelift streamlines collaboration among our development and operations teams. We use it for CI/CD as well. It can handle automation strategies. Whenever you put your YAML files and integrate them with Spacelift, it will scan the code and show where you need to make changes.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"It is easier to manage your Oracle Database backups and create email alerts regarding the status of your backups (Succeeded or Failed)."
"From a performance perspective, the management capabilities of the product are very valuable to its customers."
"Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control has improved our organization in many ways: Before implementing this solution, the patching was done manually; now we do the same task with patching management, and before, we used to monitor every server every day, but now we don't have to monitor it because we have an in-place solution and we get alerts so we can proactively monitor every server before a problem happens on it."
"Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (EM CC) is the best product for monitoring many of the Oracle databases and other Oracle applications such as Siebel, E-Business Suite, WebLogic."
"The solution provides very useful insights for application and database performance tuning, and we were able to do away with guess work in determining where the bottlenecks were in application performance."
"The dashboard and reporting help us to do preventative AI and analytics to detect performance bottlenecks."
"The solution is stable. It is great in terms of Oracle products, especially for Oracle databases."
"For those with larger footprints, but with an inexperienced staff, it really helped to cushion the issues brought on by skill gaps."
"Spacelift is like an extension of Terraform, where everything can be visibly managed."
"One key feature is the Spacelift policies, which we can attach to deployments to ensure compliance with our standards."
"A valuable feature of Spacelift is that you can attach labels, and it is a modernized tool for infrastructure deployments. It is pull request-based, and you can see all the Terraform plan and apply logs on the pull request itself, which is not available across any other CI/CD tools."
"I appreciate that I just have to connect to my AWS account with my credentials, and Spacelift handles the rest."
"Knowing the HashiCorp Configuration Language (HCL) makes it easier to use without issues."

Cons

"Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control needs to monitor other Oracle tools as well. It should also improve its pricing."
"The product is good for monitoring all databases, but in some cases it's not easy to maintain."
"The cost for the licenses needs to be improved because they are expensive and scare many customers away from Oracle."
"As the number of databases increased, the tool got a bit slower. Its response time increased with larger number of databases."
"The installation steps are very complex and the documentation for them is very generic and does not make very clear the correct steps from the installation to the addition of the host and database."
"I am not satisfied with the technical support from Oracle, as they often take a lot of time to respond to requests, and I find myself looking for solutions independently."
"The on-premises installation is complex. It should be easier, especially for deploying agents that are running on a Windows machine that is running Oracle databases. It's very complex. Linux based machines aren't so complicated but it's complex for Windows."

"If you are a small enterprise organization, below 500 people, I would not recommend it."
"In the free version, there's no straightforward way to be notified once a deployment is finished."
"Spacelift currently lacks features that can help with complex type deployments and coordination for major deployments."
"The self-hosted version does not have a lot of features compared to the SaaS version, such as cloud integrations for Azure and GCP."
