Unified customer identity has delivered seamless branded logins and secure passwordless access
There are some issues I dislike about OneLogin Customer Identity. Customers are still facing performance inconsistencies. Many times users have reported issues such as slow loading times, some occasional browser extension failures, and long session timeout behaviors. There is also complex implementation and configuration. Setting up this product can be demanding, particularly for an organization with a complex application, legacy applications, or larger application data which requires extensive custom workflows or a need for advanced branding. This will take a larger amount of time for deployment. Customization is easy but it takes time to customize, so it depends on the situation. Occasional service interruptions also occur. During my tenure, some users reported occasional outages or connectivity glitches which disrupted access to business applications.

Single sign-on has simplified access while adaptive authentication protects complex user journeys
Regarding areas for improvement in Ping Identity Platform, there is not much. In terms of licensing and implementation costs, it has premium pricing, and it has a very complex implementation. It provides greater feasibility, but it takes a very long time in terms of complete building. There is a very limited number of legacy support, which can pose potential difficulties in integrating with certain older or legacy systems. Additionally, issue troubleshooting can be difficult at times. Sometimes issues can be difficult to diagnose and require extensive technical expertise. There is also a very steep learning curve for administrative purposes and potential difficulties with offline authentication scenarios.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"OneLogin Customer Identity has positively impacted our organization by significantly improving our security."
"For OneLogin, if a customer is looking for a cost-effective solution with faster setup and excellent simple-to-use workflows, then they should go for OneLogin."
"In terms of specific numbers, before we had a very poor pool of security breaches and it was not easy to log into every application in my organization, as we manually logged into every application, however, when we got OneLogin, it really simplified how we log in by using just one password or going passwordless, and we have been able to save at least 70 to 80% of our time compared to our previous tool."
"The biggest benefit of OneLogin Customer Identity for cybersecurity in a banking environment is the ability to manage many virtual machines, servers, and applications that require different credentials and privileges by using single sign-on, which automates the process."
"I would recommend PingFederate as an IAM solution for its no-code environment, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, bidirectional services, and advanced features."
"It gets a mobility portal in place in conjunction with Office 365. It provides very good possibilities and it's much better than other technology that we have used before which was unstable and slower."
"The product's most valuable features include its cloud-based capabilities for handling cloud applications and providing authentication and authorization through OIDC and SAML. It also supports integrations needed for both local and internal applications, including legacy applications requiring web server access."
"The only feature we were looking for in PingID was SSO integration with our existing web app."
"It provides ease of connecting all our devices."
"From a security perspective, I highly value the product's biometric authentication methods such as FIDO, FaceID, YubiKey, and the mobile app."
"The solution is stable. We haven't experienced any bugs or glitches."
"This is a user-friendly solution."

Cons

"Comparing OneLogin Customer Identity with CyberArk technically, I think CyberArk is better; I have had CyberArk for around two years or more, and I know of two or three customers in Ethiopian financial institutions using CyberArk Identity Access Management."
"OneLogin Customer Identity's mobile app is not the best and could use some improvements for easy use on the go or at home or remotely."
"In terms of scalability for OneLogin Customer Identity, I don't think it has great scalability because many times users have reported issues about their loading browser extension and sometimes their session timeout."
"Additionally, I noticed that training is a must. A training and learning curve is necessary for everyone to go through, and I would love the option to skip the training if the user already knows about the system."
"PingAccess can only have one token provider, and you cannot enable two different token providers simultaneously."
"If the solution is going to compete with Microsoft, they need to offer more unique functionality to keep their current user base."
"PingID's device management portal should be more easily accessible via a link. They provide no link to the portal like they do for the service. The passwordless functionality could be more comprehensive. You can't filter based on hardware devices. Having that filtering option would be great. Device authentication would be a great feature."
"In the beginning, the initial setup was very complex."
"They could use some bio-certification. It's just more user-friendly and more convenient than entering the one time passes. That would be an improvement."
"From the improvement perspective, they could bring IGA capability, which right now they only have in their SaaS offering."
"For external customers, they do have challenges, although there are solutions for that available, as well."
"One significant challenge was ensuring smooth user migration during system upgrades in Ping."
