Merge has streamlined change data capture and supports cost‑effective ELT hiring flexibility
Regarding optimization, I have observed that on the Snowflake side, with Merge being used on a table that has micro partitions and has been well maintained, the statement execution will be very fast. This helps in both cost savings and performance-wise optimization. It would be beneficial if there is a common public community so that people who may not be aware of this will become more aware. Additionally, when we do joins within the Merge statement, there is always a chance of getting duplicates. Snowflake added a feature called QUALIFY that allows us to filter based on ranking and eliminate duplicate records. If such a feature were available in regular Merge statements within any database, that would be helpful. This would eliminate the need to rebuild another subquery inside the Merge statement.

Security and integration features are appreciated but some bugs need addressing
The main feature of Oracle Integration Cloud Service is its budget-friendly pricing compared to other middleware tools such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Workato. Additionally, Oracle Integration Cloud Service provides tools such as PCS and Apex for building user interfaces, allowing users to create UIs with drag-and-drop features. Oracle Integration Cloud Service offers capabilities for data customization and validation, handling different date formats, and API calls using REST and SOAP. With approximately 60 to 70 adapters, it allows integration with systems such as SAP, Salesforce, and ERP. Oracle Integration Cloud Service also comes with pre-built adapters, offering easy setup and security features such as OAuth for connecting with systems such as Salesforce.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One significant advantage is the ability to go with open source and not depend on proprietary ETL tools, which saves licensing costs and allows me to hire broadly for common SQL and data warehousing skills instead of niche tool expertise."
"Merge has positively impacted my organization by being extremely useful and allowing me to review multiple files at increased speed."
"The Oracle integration tool is the most comfortable tool for using those Oracle products."
"My advice to others is if you are looking for integrations with other Oracle solutions, then this is a great choice."
"We are seeing the benefits, it's a digital transformation."
"The return on investment is there, especially in terms of operations part, since maintenance administration or around 40% of the activities or efforts now happens automatically and, because it is ready to use and the majority of the services are available, there is a significant amount of time and labor savings in terms of effort reduction."
"We mainly use the solution's ICS component."
"People are able to scale up, learn it quickly, and start delivering."
"We implemented this solution in an organization that was able to use OIC without having to procure any hardware."
"Oracle Integration Cloud Service integrates well and is user-friendly. If you are not a developer or ops engineer you can still use the solution with ease. You do not need to have developers' knowledge, you can easily adapt and learn quickly to integrate the services. They have good documentation."

Cons

"Merge could be improved in terms of scriptability, as I recall it was not as strong as Beyond Compare in this regard."
"Additionally, when we do joins within the Merge statement, there is always a chance of getting duplicates."
"The solution doesn't currently have a fully fledged workflow feature like they have in OIM."
"At the moment I think, probably small, medium integrations are good. Bigger integrations could be developed, though availability and progressive recovery are not in place yet."
"It works for basic stuff but if you're looking for a turnkey solution, Oracle Integration Cloud would not work."
"With JSON, if the tool provides support similar to XML, then it would be helpful."
"Sometimes, the tech support is slow to get back to us. We have had to wait up to two weeks for a response."
"They need to make tools framework available for implementation partners"
"It's one of the major factors for clients not choosing this product and it should be included in the API CS part of OIP."
"Support at Oracle is good, but not excellent."

"Pricing is not on the economic side since it is a tool for enterprise-sized companies."
"In the case of Oracle Integration Cloud, costs can be "predictable" as far as the platform and infrastructure are concerned."
"The price of Oracle Integration Cloud Service is good. It is reasonable and is priced well for the market segment. The model they use is on a per-package unit and we have a two-year subscription."
"The solution is less expensive than other products."
"The price of Oracle Integration Cloud Service is reasonable to start with, but when you scale it becomes expensive."
"It specifies how much data you use and how much storage you require, among other things."
