Data management consolidation improves efficiency and user coordination
The licenses are too expensive compared to before, which is why customers are now preferring other data metadata management tools like OneTrust, Collibra, and Azure Purview. As a matter of POC, they are assessing whether their requirements can meet data governance initiatives. The need for skilled professionals is increasing, but cost remains a significant consideration for organizations when implementing CDGC. If a budget is allocated and they are satisfied with the Informatica CDGC license price, then it is a very good tool to implement. Regarding improvements, besides the price, the advanced clusters feature in CDGC needs attention. There are advanced scanners features present in both on-premise and cloud, but the setup isn't straightforward; there are lots of dependencies to consider. For instance, an SAP connector dealing with CDGC isn't simple. There are precautions and prerequisites that must be followed; otherwise, it won't work easily compared to the Oracle connector. Thus, resources need to be handled carefully with the advanced scanner configuration guide.

Semarchy xDM's unique selling point is its quick turnover time, allowing for the rapid development of a proof of concept or minimum viable product. Its low-code approach, essentially a wrapper for SQL, enables easy and quick development. The core features include validation business rules, deduplication, merging, and consolidation from multiple sources.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The serverless capability and the packaging application of the solution are valuable."
"The solution is stable."
"Informatica Cloud is easy for development and maintenance."
"The most valuable features of Informatica MDM are it is cloud-enabled and has all the elements that are supposed to have in terms of MDM as a solution. All the features that are there. It is very well-integrated with any of the SAP and non-SAP applications. It is quite user-friendly. The user experience that you receive in Informatica MDM is quite good."
"Now that we run all the addresses through AddressDoctor, we know what is a deliverable address and what is not, and we see the suggestion list for the addresses which are not deliverable."
"New tools are coming out that will enable you to achieve 90 percent of use cases with the out-of-the-box configuration, but I would like to keep Informatica tight here. Otherwise, you need a Java user edit course and other things to do multiple things that you cannot configure out of the box. They have to go through those use cases to do something if those can also be configured rather than coded."
"The solution has an excellent data profiler."
"The solution allows the complete governance process, starting from the data quality, those definitions, and it can get the data quality in the EDC."
"The flexibility of Semarchy xDM allows for possible deployment on-premises, in the cloud, or both."
"Semarchy xDM's unique selling point is its quick turnover time, allowing for the rapid development of a proof of concept or minimum viable product."
"You get a big bang for the buck with Semarchy."
"Their documentation is excellent."

Cons

"I would like to have the solution in one product and technical support needs to be better."
"Their support should be improved. We have had some trouble with their support from time to time. Its scalability should also be improved. I would also like to have a bit more modern and friendly UI for the end-users. There should definitely be a simplified way to configure and set it up."
"In terms of what could be improved, they need to create a rules repository."
"An area for improvement would be that the pricing model is not very visible, which makes it hard to understand how much things will cost."
"The product requires more polishing and hardening."
"The user interface could be more user friendly with a simplified mapping task."
"Certain shortcomings in the product's UI make it an area where improvements are required."
"I would like to see more API integration to have the capability to build a report using other third party reporting tools allowing things to be streamlined."
"There is room for improvement in terms of local support."
"There is room for improvement in the developer experience, particularly for those who are SQL proficient, as having more direct access would be beneficial."
"They need to make the workflow more enhanced or dynamic in its functionality."
"They need to make the workflow more enhanced or dynamic in its functionality."
