High-density servers have maximized compute efficiency and have powered critical workloads reliably
Regarding how Dell PowerEdge C- Series can be improved, I would highlight a couple of areas. While it's excellent for dense and scale-out workloads, it isn't perfect for every scenario, and the complex I/O and component upgrades pose challenges since each server node is compressed into a narrow removable sled, making physical space inside the node tight. Replacing components requires pulling the entire node out and dismantling the protective casing. PCI expansion is also limited compared to standard 2U single-node servers such as the PowerEdge R700 series, which can hold up to eight PCI slots. Dell PowerEdge C- Series typically supports only two to three slots, restricting the addition of multiple specialized network interface cards. Finally, the initial capital expenditure is heavy; acquiring a PowerEdge C chassis and its multiple sleds requires significant upfront commitment, making it less cost-efficient if you need one or two nodes now, as you generally need to commit to the ecosystem upfront.

With a perfect record for uptime, the solution ensures a return on investment
Since it is a legacy tool, there is a need to change it for flexibility. I think now it has improved because the security is very good. It is very secure for the performance of the machine critical application service, and it is very good. I don't know how to speak more on improvement needed because it's a good enough tool. However, depending on the application, it's limited. Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop. It is not flexible because I know that because of the compatibility of Java with HPE NonStop. When we are using Java, the performance is not good.

"The initial setup is not complex. It's a user-friendly tool."
"Using Dell PowerEdge C- Series has helped to reduce unplanned production downtime because we configure it redundantly with redundant configurations."
"I do not see any regular issues coming up from Dell PowerEdge C- Series, and even though we run them on virtualized platforms, they are quite consistent, and we do not find many issues with respect to hardware."
"Dell PowerEdge C- Series has strong features including easy implementation and configuration, and it consumes less power compared to other devices."
"So far, the product has made us more efficient in terms of energy usage and space usage utilization."
"My experience with Dell PowerEdge C- Series is very good and positive."
"It's a good product. Virtualization on it is good."
"Implement it. You will never regret it."
"The stability of HPE NonStop is good."
"Because we're able to get immediate support, this prevents downtime and directly impacts cost savings."
"They've been very reliable since we started using them in 1978, but we're going to replace them in a few years."
"Technical support is A++. If there is a problem, HPE will fix it."
"If you are contemplating a fault-tolerant, high uptime transaction processing machine with above normal transactions volumes - to act as a transaction server with infrequent changes to code - and you simply must have bulletproof performance - this might be the ticket."
"We don't have any issues with the stability of HPE NonStop."
"This is the standard for reliability and fault-resilience."

Cons

"They could automate or simplify it more."
"There is no return on investment or cost reductions in the long run after implementing Dell PowerEdge C- Series."
"Customer service and support have been generally helpful but can be slow due to the need to navigate different specialists."
"Its customer service could be better."
"It should be improved in terms of future expansion. We should be able to have additional free slots for future extensions in terms of memory."
"The price must be improved."
"A feature that needs to be added is the ability for full container storage."
"It would be better if the solution provided simplified storage and hardware with an integrated one-tier architecture."
"Currently the NonStop platform doesn’t support virtualization of servers or CPU’s. Only storage."
"If pushed, then the only thing I can think of would be utilities provided by the vendor."
"It is not flexible...Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop."
"HPE NonStop could improve by having infrastructure management."
"The NonStop Support Center is very good, with an occasional bump in the road."
"The NonStop system is well priced, but the software that runs on it is quite pricey."
"The initial setup is complex. You need the help of a consultant for it to go smoothly."
"I would never advise someone to buy or to implement the new NonStop because it's hard to find skilled people."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't handle the financial aspects, so I don't know the exact costs, but in terms of the value it brings, it's worth it."
"The product costs can be high, especially for disks and other components."
"The price could be reduced."
"The cost depends on the configuration."
"We buy licenses for the solution's advanced features."
"PowerEdge C is a reasonably priced product, and the pricing depends on how many years you need the product. The cost also includes the support."
"Despite the slightly higher price, we prefer Dell due to the high quality of their products."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"The price of the solution is too high. If they lowered the price substantially it would open up more opportunities. It's considered a replacement for the old 9000 boxes of HP. If it had a lower price, we would be able to compete in the financial, and other sectors and other solutions such as Terraform. Having a high price makes other solutions more attractive."
"HPE NonStop is definitely on the higher end."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap, and ten is very expensive, I rate the pricing an eight."
