Overview
Cisco Session Border Control (SBC) is an IP multimedia security and operational enhancement function for session-oriented IP services, based on SIP/H.323/H.248 signaling. It enables direct IP-to-IP interconnect between multiple administrative domains for session-based services, providing protocol internetworking, security, admission control, and management. It enables direct IP-to-IP peering between service providers, and between service providers and their business and residential customers. The most common SBC deployment is Voice over IP (VoIP) peering between service providers by converting IP to public switched telephone network (PSTN) and using existing PSTN peering infrastructure.

Ingate Systems develops firewall technology to enable global SIP- and WebRTC-based person-to-person communication such as SIP trunking, IP telephony, presence, Instant Messaging, video conferencing, IP-PBX connections and Unified Communications.

Ingate offers enterprises, service providers and carriers elegant solutions that make trusted real-time communications possible beyond the LAN. Among the company’s award-winning products are the Ingate Firewall and the Ingate SIParator Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC). These are widely used to connect service providers’ SIP trunks to enterprise IP-PBXs and Unified Communication solutions and to allow remote users outside the LAN.
