Weekly insights and risk analysis facilitate informed security decisions
I appreciate the weekly insights Zafran provides, which include critical topics for networks and IT security, allowing us to evaluate which insights apply to our environment. The organization score feature is valuable to keep the leadership team updated on how our infrastructure fares security-wise. The applicable risk level versus base risk level feature is beneficial because prior to Zafran, we only used the base risk level, but now understand that risk depends on the asset itself. Zafran is an excellent tool.

Evolved cloud security with active monitoring but needs interface consistency
The user interface needs work. Sometimes, it is a transition from the old tool to the new CNAPP Two that I currently have, and remnants of the old environment can still be detected. I require consistency in the user interface to ensure everything is streamlined into the same look and feel. More work is needed in fine-tuning the threat data towards your CSPM and activity logs, aligning them with business intelligence, which requires a cohesive console interface. My assessment of CloudGuard CDRs in intrusion detection and threat hunting capabilities is that it still needs some work. All the threat data that comes in, you need to fine tune it a bit.

Makes vulnerability management efficient with a single pane of glass and daily report generation
There are areas for improvement. Initially, when onboarding Vulcan Cyber, the setup and configuration was more complex than expected with a user-friendly approach. This aspect can be enhanced. An important area is performance and speed, as Vulcan Cyber often lacks speed when exporting reports. The team might have to work on scaling up servers. When we click on a vulnerability, it takes ten seconds to pop up a window and show the entire content. Instead of that, they can put a down arrow, and all the details should be shown on clicking the arrow. This will prevent that ten-second delay. Another area for improvement is providing support and documentation for their tool. Users should have access to easy-to-understand trial documentation for reference.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We are able to see the real risk of a vulnerability on our environment with our security tools."
"Zafran has become an indispensable tool in our cybersecurity arsenal."
"We saw benefits from Zafran Security almost immediately after deploying it."
"Zafran is an excellent tool."
"Overall, we have seen about eighty-seven percent reduction of the number of vulnerabilities that require urgency to remediate, specifically the number of criticals."
"This solution provides threat prevention and detection of anomalies automatically and investigates the activity of each one of them."
"The identification of misconfigurations, maintenance of compliance in a centralized way, and visibility across all the multi-cloud tenants are the key functionalities."
"The two most valuable features for us are the central firewall administrator and the real-time cloud compliance monitoring."
"CloudGuard's best feature is real-time detection. We can detect incidents and vulnerabilities in our code with one click."
"Visibility is a key feature. It helps me to validate my overall network posture."
"The cloud security posture management identify the risks that are the most critical to our business. We can define certain key assets that are your crown jewels. And whenever something hits on these crown jewels, you get a very high score. So you can really fine tune towards protecting your risk based assets in the cloud."
"We like the GSL Builder feature. When you're running a security operations center, you spend a lot of time monitoring endpoint activity to ensure there is no malicious traffic or anonymous access in the environment. The GSL Builder is helpful for deep investigations of a particular reason for an incident. You can use it to get more information."
"I can take proactive actions based on an alert without having to interact with the platform directly."
"The automation capabilities using the Vulcan API platform or the API feature allow me to easily automate scripts and reports and schedule them."
"I was part of the initial deployment. It was pretty easy. To fully deploy, it took about three or four weeks."
"Out of the three solutions I've used, Vulcan Cyber is the superior option."
"Vulcan Cyber is a very good tool."
"It has allowed us to bring together multiple sources of information from different signal sources into a single point."
"Now that the solution is onboarded, we are saving a lot of time. We're saving roughly four to ten hours a week."
"There is a lot of flexibility in exporting, making it a really good feature. The exporting flexibility based on application type is commendable and provides significant value."
"The most notable aspects include having prioritization capabilities and custom scripts."

Cons

"The dashboarding and reporting functionality of Zafran Security is an area that definitely could use some improvements."
"Initially, we were somewhat concerned about the scalability of Zafran due to our large asset count and the substantial amount of information we needed to process."
"I think the ability to have some enhanced reporting capabilities is something they can improve on, as they have good reports but we have asked for some specific reporting enhancements."
"The tool should incorporate more use cases like improving security scores. It should also improve documentation."
"Dome9 should also support deployments that are on-premises and in a hybrid cloud."
"I strongly advise that the multi-layered security system of Check Point often undergoes updates and new versions keep coming."
"The impact analysis that they perform can be improved. It is currently lacking. It should be more detailed."
"I would like to see improvements in the vulnerability assessments in terms of how the solution discovers vulnerabilities or compromised workloads. Also, customizable reports would be nice."
"I don't have any notes for improvements."
"I would appreciate a way to receive periodic updates, like through email. I am the kind of person who likes to receive data passively."
"Check Point tools need to improve the latency in the portal since they take a long time to load."
"Improvements are needed in providing more concise details on how to apply remedies for particular vulnerabilities."
"We wish we had more insights into how they weigh the risks associated with the threat intel."
"It was a rough year in terms of setup. I had to set it up and onboard it. It was a significant effort from my side at least."
"If there was a way for me to connect to the vendor directly from the application, it would be helpful."
"The fact that we cannot use it for our reporting leads me to rate it three out of ten."
"An important area is performance and speed, as Vulcan Cyber often lacks speed when exporting reports."
"We've faced situations where we required support on a Friday, and support wasn't available."
"Mainly, what I would like from them is more maintenance of the different connectors they have in the platform."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The license for CloudGuard Posture Management is about $80 a year, and it's based on your cloud footprint, not the number of users. So you could have a million users, and it doesn't matter."
"I would advise taking into account the existing number of devices and add a forecast of the number of devices to be added in the coming year or two, to obtain better pricing."
"The license fee is high."
"The price is on the higher end."
"Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management is always known as a good solution but an expensive one. When you're using Cisco, Check Point, or Palo Alto, you know that you will pay more, but you know that it will work."
"CloudGuard is fairly priced."
"Licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads within one license and no additional charges."
"It is a very straightforward licensing model that is based on the number of assets you are discovering and managing with the solution."
"Our leadership knows better about the pricing. As per my knowledge, which might not be accurate, its price can come down."
"Its pricing is quite fair compared to what is out there in the market, especially compared to the tool from Microsoft. It is a SaaS platform that has an annual cost, so it is something that is already used by many companies. It is quite affordable."
