A stable tool that helps identify the complete flow analysis in a network
The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that the complete flow analysis can be identified through the tool. The classification of each protocol and how the bandwidth utilization is happening with the protocols while managing to get SLAs, IP protocols, and QoS metrics is possible because of the product.

Real-time dashboards have improved our deployment monitoring and incident response
We are using Opsview ourselves, rather than being a consultant or a reseller. We do not use its auto-discovery feature. We do not utilize its API driven architecture. I do not know what metrics we use to assess the effectiveness of Opsview's hybrid IT monitoring. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with Opsview as it is good for what it does. I do not know if Grafana has any other advantages besides better stats, as I am not involved in that side. Based on my experience, I would still recommend Opsview to others as it is good for what it does. I gave this review a rating of 8.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For supporting flow-traffic monitoring, this product is the best option."
"The custom report is the most valuable feature."
"Anomaly Detector - This detects the anomaly flows in infra environment and makes job easy to analyze issue."
"It is an overall stable solution."
"This solution has helped our organization by allowing us to have visibility. We deal with cybersecurity, so visibility is very important."
"Despite the low level of support, I would still fully recommend this product, because even when not all the features are used, the advantage of having such a wealth of useful information about the network traffic in real time, together with such flexibility of its presentation, is undeniable."
"I am satisfied with the overall product since it works well…It is a stable solution."
"We use this solution for internal monitoring our own cloud platform because we are a public cloud provider, and we also use it for monitoring purposes on behalf of our clients."
"We now have a single view for all systems monitored within our IT estate, while we previously had three different systems (each configured differently)."
"What was very compelling about OpsView was that we could dial out the noise and have meaningful and actionable alerts."
"Customer service is great; always responsive, within minutes at times."
"Opsview provides all the functionality of NetSaint and Nagios but with the simplicity of a GUI front end, using MySQL to centralize configuration."
"The multi-tenancy that's available through this is one of the most valuable things."
"There are several valuable features for us, including ease of configuration of monitoring of new hosts/services, worker redundancy and load balancing, and the fact that it’s compatible with the plethora of existing Nagios plugins available on the web."

Cons

"Currently, Broadcom Network Flow Analysis does not support high-availability solutions, making it an area that needs improvement."
"Sometimes the custom report jammed in the MYSQL database."
"Enhanced support should be given with APIs that work to maintain collected information."
"I would like to see more security features, like a lost protection package."
"Prefer this product only if the scope of flow analysis is vast and for a limited scope I don’t prefer this product since the product licenses are very costly and it is a waste of money."
"If one is able to find it at all, the documentation is often no help."
"We have had some stability issues, but that is largely because we're using an unsupported database."
"It can be a little bit flaky with the agent on VMware."
"The graphing feature needs work, although it has been rewritten in release 5.0 and we have yet to deploy it."
"In a future release, we would like to have Observ for AI. Any AI and intelligence it can add to the monitoring is obviously beneficial. We would also like to have automated callouts."
"It's probably the priciest option of all its main competitors."
"Reload time: Although there have been major gains in the time to process reloads, I think that there is still room for improvement in this area."
"Maybe the graphical representation can be improved. It can be enhanced for better visualization. It could be a little better. And the graph center can be improved."
"We are starting to hit the limits of how we can scale out."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you make a DX NetOps-based purchase and the complete suite of products that fall under DX NetOps from Broadcom, then you get Network Flow Analysis along with DX NetOps Performance Management and DX Spectrum."
"The solution is priced similarly to other tools offering similar features."
"I would rate pricing a seven out of ten, where ten is the highest price."
"The solution is not cheap. I think that the pricing is a little bit on the high side."
