Broad perspective on strategic management exists but integration challenges hinder efficiency
The product execution part, such as planning and executing, is done through Atlassian tools, specifically Jira. We wanted to upgrade our ability to understand how all these products and teams are working against strategic goals, tracking expenses and time, but the integration between Broadcom Clarity and Atlassian Jira is very cumbersome and not straightforward. Their integration, even with ConnectALL, is just adequate, but it's never going to be great because they are actively trying to sell Rally. To make Broadcom Clarity a perfect product, I think with Jira, nothing can be done. To be fair, I don't know exactly how Rally integration works as I've only read about it, but I know that in marketing papers, it seems amazing with full-on integration, whereas with Jira, it just doesn't work that effectively.

A project management tool that helps to manage milestones and dependencies
We use the product to design online courses. It also helps us with media production and marketing.  Teamwork has made process management easier and much better. It is very robust and improves by making a lot of changes. It is easy to use and has lots of reports. The product is expensive. It needs…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I love technical support; I love them, they're awesome."
"It is much more streamlined, with a lot more automation, and it’s just easy to use."
"The reporting tools are superior to what was there before, which was someone crunching through an Excel spreadsheet. I've been able to do status reports through the projects, which has given visibility to my manager, and that's an improvement."
"Centralization of all projects into one tool using a standardized way of prioritization improved the visibility of current and planned spending against company’s goals and strategies in the portfolio."
"Clarity PPM is an open design tool that you can design the way you want."
"It's a kind of one-stop shop repository of all of our project statuses and what everybody is doing."
"People or companies looking for PPM tools can go for CA PPM as it is perfect for customizations and is user friendly."
"It's pretty much the source of "the truth." Everything is together, everyone can see all the resources, financial projects, how long a project's going to take. Anybody can go in there and see any information they need about the organization as a whole."
"Teamwork has made process management easier and much better. It is very robust and improves by making a lot of changes. It is easy to use and has lots of reports."
"It is a very stable solution...The initial setup of Teamwork is easy."
"I recommend this solution; it is very good for simple projects."
"The setup was very easy. Deployment was very fast for us. We started using it within two weeks."

Cons

"They just introduced Jaspersoft in 14 and some of the security around Jaspersoft is very difficult to use."
"We see a lot of performance impacts, particularly in the newer versions with Jaspersoft and things like that, so that part has been pretty disappointing."
"The product's stability needs improvement."
"One of the limitations would be mapping our current agile processes in the same tool set without obviously integrating to a different type of tool set within the same portfolio."
"Tech support and customer service on the part of CA is very lacking."
"One of the major pain points for me when it comes to Broadcom Clarity PPM is the new UI. The new UI is very good in terms of functionality and the drag and draw features, but it's not very responsive. When I say that it's not very responsive, what I mean is that sometimes, the tool is not very user-friendly. For example, a user saves a value on the form, but the tool doesn't give any indication to the user that the value has been saved. Some users are moving from the classic UI to the new UI, and end up getting confused because on the classic UI, when you click "Save", it'll save the information and you'll get an indication that it was saved. With the new UI, it auto saves the information, but it doesn't give an indication in the form of a popup box that "this form has been saved", or any type of message indicating that the information was successfully saved. It's been confusing for users who move to the new UI because of that. The users don't understand when the values are being saved or not being saved, even if there's an auto-save feature in the new UI."
"they could improve the mobile app. I think right now it only offers time sheet. If they can integrate a lot of other components into it I think that would be helpful for the users."
"I think it needs better reporting. The reports should be more user-friendly as they're currently hard to understand."
"The screen sharing provided by the solution can be a challenge to a user. Screen sharing is an area that needs improvement in the solution."
"The product could be improved with more integrations and a mobile app."
"The product could be improved with more integrations and a mobile app."
"The product is expensive. It needs to have a more robust and customizable calendar."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing is flexible, depending on the customer and the region."
"The price point of Broadcom Clarity PPM is less than Planisware. If a customer comes to me, and the cost is the main parameter for the selection of a tool, then I'll recommend Broadcom because cost-wise, they are less than other solutions."
"The subscription is not that expensive."
"The price of Broadcom Clarity PPM is reasonable. My customers pay a license to use this solution on an annual basis."
"There are different licensing models with Broadcom Clarity PPM. With the software as a service model, you pay as you go, and if you are on-premises, you can buy a perpetual license and an annual fee for maintenance."
"For all the functionalities of the solution, the price is in the market range, since it is a product which offers governance issues and supports the digital transformation, which is where we will go in the next year."
"Broadcom Clarity PPM costs us $500K, and that's only for the installation and kick off within the first year. For each succeeding year, it could cost $200K."
"Cost-wise, the tool is very expensive and some tools might be able to cater to 80% of the functionality provided by Broadcom Clarity PPM but are not as expensive."
"We negotiate on pricing since we are a long-term user."
"My company makes annual payments towards the licensing costs of the solution."
